Palia Review

I usually wait until fully completing a game before reviewing it, but Palia is an exception. It's one of those games you keep coming back to, whether for new events, helping new players, or just indulging in its cozy grind. While I may have nominated it for the Steam Awards (totally not biased!), this review reflects my honest impressions based on reaching the later stages of the game.

Gameplay
Palia’s core gameplay centers around grinding, leveling, completing quests, and upgrading tools, your home, and your inventory. Unlike traditional MMORPGs, it only offers one combat style—a bow for hunting—so if you’re seeking intense action, this might not be your game. But the beauty lies in the simplicity: farming plushies, rare potato pods, and cosmetics become oddly addictive, especially for those who love to design and collect.

The romance system adds another layer of grind, but it’s surprisingly worth it. Getting characters to higher friendship levels can be a challenge, but now that romance is an option? Count me in for Team Kenyatta or Tish! And yes, Reth or Einar deserves a mention just to make people squirm, haha. XD

Artwork (Skins, UI, Cosmetics)
Palia’s artists deserve a standing ovation. Cosmetics in Palia are top-tier, rivaling even AAA studios, and they’re the main monetization source. The quality is so high, it’s hard not to splurge on a favorite eccentric outfit. Importantly, the game doesn’t sexualize characters—it’s all tasteful and diverse.

The UI design is clean, user-friendly, and visually pleasing. The dialogue system, complete with dialogue selections, is another highlight, making conversations feel lively and interactive.

Grinding, Tools, and Story
Make no mistake—Palia is a grind-heavy game. If you don’t enjoy grinding, you might struggle to find your footing. The story is rich, focusing on humans’ mysterious return to Palia after they disappeared from the world long ago. Helping the locals, completing side quests, and striving for 100% completion is rewarding, but the game doesn’t end there. Designing and perfecting your home plot can easily become a years-long project for the most dedicated players.

Upgrading tools streamlines the grind, though keeping them repaired is crucial. If you neglect repairs, tools can reset to their basic versions, adding an extra layer of challenge and grind to get back.

The Friendliest Community?
Palia boasts one of the kindest online communities I’ve encountered. Whether in the local world chat, Discord, or in-game interactions, players are consistently helpful and generous. Sharing rare resource locations, flaring items for visibility, and even waiting for others before collecting shared resources are all common practices.

Flow Tree Groves, a nightly world event, exemplifies the supportiveness. Players often collaborate to locate and share the event’s location, turning it into a social activity that brings the community closer together.

Seasonal Events
  • Maji Market (August & recurring every 4 weeks): Decor, recipes, quests, and a festive in-game market.
  • Spooky Moon (October): Seasonal decorations and spooky vibes.
  • Winterlights (December): Festive decor, unique quests, and holiday cheer.
  • Luna Moon (January): Similar to Maji Market, with unique food and recipes.

These events add fresh content and encourage players to revisit the game regularly. The addition of recurring markets after Build 0.184 ensures there’s always something new to enjoy, whether it’s farming friendship levels or snagging limited-time cosmetics.

In conclusion, Palia delivers a relaxing yet addictive gameplay loop, stunning visuals, and a warm, welcoming community. While it’s not perfect (the grind may not suit everyone), it excels as a cozy life-sim MMO that keeps players coming back for more. Whether you’re here for the decor, the story, or the friendships—real or virtual—it’s an experience worth trying.

As of reviewing this, I only have a base hour of 42 in total for Nioh 2, whilst having more hours from playing Nioh 1 before Nioh 2. This review is solely based on my personal views on the game and is not influenced by anyone or anything else, nor a paid advertisement.

My review of Nioh 2

Gameplay: 8/10
It felt like Playing Nioh 1, but with more improvements to the original systems in place for combat and abilities. A lot of problems with the keybinding made the experience pretty bad from the get-go and having to manually tweak them again was a long painful road. It feels wacky still, but I'm managing with what I have and I hope I'll get back into how I experienced the gameplay in Nioh 1.

Weapons: 9/10
It got more weapon additions than it had in Nioh 1, and it has actual Melee weapons now (aka fists). Sadly, as a weeb, the way it works instantly made me feel in love, as it feels nostalgic whenever I combo with it. I have not got the chance to try out the others, but I hear a lot of late-game builds run Rage and Axe combo, which seems a bit OP. But, right now I am just loving how much KI management you'll need to have to use the Fists and not instantly die.

Menu + In-game UI: 8/10
Not much has changed, it is still the plain old map and quest interaction as ever. UI has to some extent changed, but at least for the better. It is better and more straightforward now. Having to look for an option is easier in this game than it was in Nioh 1.

Skill tree: 10/10
For once they managed to make something that fits perfectly with the game. It looks a bit messy to start with, but in comparison to its predecessor, this version of the game has nailed it. Though it still feels new to me what invokes to get a specific skill in said tree.

New Weapon Elements: 8/10
The new addition of Purity and Corruption elements that will invoke this element after building it up is amazing and it also fits the theme, Purity for Yokai and Corruption for Humans. Whilst most of the story is probably more the player fighting against Yokai, Corruption is still viable, though probably mostly useless depending on what build you need it for. But compared to Nioh 1, where this was not available I find it a great addition to the game, it allows more Elements to be applied and also at random... Which the ladder I'm not too fond of tbf.

Yokai Ability / Anima: 10/10
Unlike Nioh 1 where this was not even remotely a thing nor mentioned, I do find it confusing why having such a feature before Nioh 1's story was even possible to implement into the game. But, the reality isn't always needed, as this feature still hits home with what it does, having Humans/Yokai drop Soul Cores was a good addition and Soul Fusing? Man, another reason to spend years grinding again is to get the right traits and create the most epic build. It's an intriguing feature and a genius idea.

Yokai/Dark Realm + No instant restart on death: 10/10
Having played Nioh 1, knowing how hard some Enemies were, having an additional Realm on top of that which by no surprise disrupts the KI flow... Why am I not surprised that these evil developers want us to suffer so? At the very least, it allows us to regain some bar when playing CO-OP online, which was not a thing in Nioh 1. Furthermore, on the ladder of the title, you no longer restart the instant your CO-OP partner dies, which is a huge improvement, as it can sometimes be hard to carry your friend or be carried, and just it all ends because the boss just wanted to see your friend/yourself dead no matter what and let you go back to the title screen. Honestly, it's a blessing that these evil developers aren't that evil, still not gonna forgive them for all the hours spent dying and restarting entire maps because of a bad teammate or myself dying over and over to some trash lowlife Yokai scum.

My overall game score: 9/10
It doesn't feel worse than Nioh 1, but rather the opposite. It took everything that Nioh 1 did wrong, improved, made it even more confusing, but still has a static storyline where only difficulty and monsters change and item drops rarity. Sadly, it feels like Nioh 1 gameplay-wise, except for the new weapons, abilities, and items added though and that Story is so short you can speedrun it within half a day if you are tryharding it or skip every enemy. But regardless, my friend made me fall in love with this game, so I might as well stick to continue playing it, despite my lack of being good at these sorts of games.

As of this review, I've played it for around 11+ hours after my friend recommended it back when it was named Splitgate: Arena Warfare. This review is solely based on what I've experienced so far and not before the official 1.0 release of the game, nor is it a paid review. As a legacy player of the game, together with my friend, we queued a few games starting a few days ago, which were the first games on the official 1.0 version. We both were shocked at how much has changed, for better or worse. A lot of the latter, see below for why that is.

My review of Splitgate

Gameplay: 6/10
This gets a solid 6 in score because it is simply just built differently. Using the environment to your advantage is everything in this game. Having the best portal placement and the luck that enemy spawns don't suck. You can dominate in this game. Spawn killing has been a day zero problem, but it still seems somewhat untouched nor addressed in a good way. This lowers my overall gameplay score as it is a big issue with the game. It also impacts new players, which are perhaps forced into matches with good people and their entire day is ruined in a single match.

Sound & Music: 4/10
The music is fine and okay as is, both lobby and match music. However, the enemy footsteps are kind of weird in this game. As you can hear them a mile away with a good headset, but poorly on a lesser headset. My friend and I have different headsets and everytime I hear someone waaaay before he does, which has often saved his life. I use a Corsair HS60 Haptic gaming headset, while he uses a Ryzer Kraken. It might just be a fluke, but I don't believe I should be picking up on sound queues way before him. This does drag the score below average, due to the way passive enemy movement in this game seems a little bit off putting.

Cosmetics (Skins & Weapons): 2/10
This is what either makes or breaks a game when it comes to popularity and income. This game focuses too much on cosmetics, but < completely > < utterly > < disgracefully > < miserably > fails at this at all levels of the game. There is only 1 female character, which in itself costs paid currency, while all the male-related skins can either be obtained or purchased in some form and with paid currency. And the skin details and emotes are on par with a low-tier game, sorry. This seriously dragged it down to an 2 in score, this seriously needs to be addressed. More female characters, better designs or give up on releasing anything, especially if they are more half-baked characters/weapon skins.

Menu + In-game UI: 3/10
This game menu and or lobby is not at all user-friendly. Nor is it any easier for someone who just started the game. It is visually confusing.
Even as a veteran gamer I found myself looking all over for features that obviously should be mandatory in places it was not (e.g stats, level, progress, challenges, etc). It looks like it was just thrown randomly in places and then "called it a successful day and all went their seperate ways". A lot of it is useless and shouldn't even be visible on the lobby screen, it just clutters it with nonsense and takes the focus off the main feature. Also please change the "For the next x (in my case 18,188) minutes, playing Spooky Stadium earns you a 25% XP Boost!". This should be converted into hours and minutes or days. Its confusing and annoying too have to manually convert this on our own to figure out how long it will last for. And please fix the fact you can't do anything if you hold down right mouse button, but you can move the character around with the left mouse button... Small stuff that makes it confusing for the player or seem like the game is broken which can affect new players.

Drops & Challenges: 4.5/10
Drops is in a weird spot right now. Its like they "tried but gave up halfway and went with it". There are numerous ways to make it more exciting and more enjoyable to obtain a "drop". But they killed the mood, made it confusing and now its litterally a "I think I got a new drop? Wait how did I find it again?" type of scenario, at least for new players. The drop lobby is also kind of boring and not visually pleasing place to look at. Also the drop reward tiers are kind of confusing to distinguish as you won't understand what tier it is, before it says "Rare" or "Common". Just make the drop capsules shine a bit brighter and also for GOD SAKE, implement so that you can just press SPACE to spin, open and continue PLEASE...
In overall, this is barely below average because its half-baked and can be improved massivly, but probably not their main issues right now.

Overall game score: 6/10
There are a few reasons for why this game didn't become popular. Here are some: Its just Halo with portals, it is kind of static with content, much of the same gameplay and repeating matches/results. Either you dominate, get dominated or some kid absuses a glitch and another round is ruined. It also has 1 female skin, which looks like a human doll and its litterally not pleasing to view/nor play as. The skins and weapon skins featured are either bad designed or straight up copy-pasted other people's artwork on a gun and called it a day. (Some weebs will understand this, look at Plasma Rifle "Dead Velvet"). This game is fine to play, but I wouldn't reccomend it to someone else I know unless they like this kind of game style and unless they change A LOT of stuff starting with game bugs, female to male ratio on skins, better visually and friendlier UI look and better looking weapon skins. But, I would reccomend it once these are addressed/fixed/looked at. So for now I'll just reccomend it, to not negatively impact their already harsh 1.0 release.

292.4 hrs on record (32.4 hrs at review time)
As of this review, I've played it for around 32 hours after my friend recommended it two months back. This review is solely based on what I've experienced so far by queuing with a duo and a trio.

My review of Hunt: Showdown

Gameplay: 9.5/10
The reason I believe it's a solid 9.5 is that it has this dark eerie vibe and atmosphere that plays a major part in the game's general gameplay.

Weapons: 6/10
I am not a big fan of how the weapon unlock system works in this game. Thereafter my rating reflects mostly upon this fact. While I do like the challenges, they felt a bit messy and out of place.

Menu + In-game UI: 8/10
The UI for the menu is focused on the game's general theme the game wants to appeal to, which is reflected in their decisions to make a rusty and eery feeling, with a tiny tint of an apocalypse-themed vibe.

Menu + In-game sound: 10/10
My score is mainly lifted from a 9 to 10 because I LOVE the menu music.
It's a perfect fit for the game theme, and I always comment on it each time I hear it while opening the game while playing with my friends.
The gun sounds also is a solid 8/10, but the environmental sounds are what distinguishes itself from the rest. You're always looking for a sound cue to listen out for. Most fights I've fought so far have been initialized by listening out for movements then jump the nearby team when the timing is right. Monsters are also a vital part to listen out for while listening to your surroundings.

My overall game score: 8/10
The reason the score is not higher is that the weapon selection in this game is sadly not up to my par. Semi-auto, bolt-action, with one "semi-auto" gun, and game-breaking shotguns, lowers my overall score. But any automatic weapon would indeed break the game, so I won't go any lower because of that fact. Though sniping also feels so odd in this game for some reason.

Eastshade is a beautiful concept of a relaxing game, it has everything from stunning landscapes to interesting quests.
This game's atmosphere is pretty calm and relaxing, you can sit back and enjoy this game for hours at a time.

However, visiting new places at an slow pase is reccomended to slowly merge into the island's features.
Rushing the progress might leave you bored after awhile, so be sure to take it slow and remember that pase is everything in this game.

This game runs pretty okay at GTX 1060 3GB, but would at times give somewhat jiggy FPS rates.
All from 12 to 30 FPS at some stages.
I would highly reccomend using atleast 6GB of VRAM cards or use NVIDIA's new 30 gen RTX cards for best preformence.

Let me list a few bullet points for why you should play this game.
- In Eastshade you can bask in sights of the beautiful landscape at any part of the game, no need to even leave the starting area.
- Quests are tailored to get into new areas of the game, which in turns allows even more beautiful spots to be unlocked.
- Interesting questlines that doesn't derail from the game's slow and peaceful pase.
- Discover new places, new people, new questlines and new spots to paint across your canvas.
- Shaders in this game is pretty beautiful and is everything about this game. I would reccomend a good card with enough VRAM or a 30 gen RTX card for best preformence and experience.
- Extract your canvas to screenshots at anytime, should you find the perfect spot.
- The game is calm and easy to understand, nothing is too overly complicated and its interesting from the get-go.

In overall, I'd give this game an 8/10 score.
I would've given it a 10/10 if it had even more content and even more storyline.
Progress becomes stall after awhile and you keep repeating the same things at some point in the game.

I know it only says 2.1 hours on record on my profile at this point in time, but I have a lot more on an offline save.
I have in fact completed the game, so my review is purely based on my own experiences with this game.

So whether you decide to play it or not based on my review is souly up to yourself, but I would reccomend testing it out if you love a game's landscape.

Played this game at the right time, as far as the ending goes,
it ended during christmas, just like my gameplay.
In general, the game is great.
However, for more mature players, the 18+ patch, is a absolute need.
You can download it from their Patreon[www.patreon.com] page.
Or check this guide out:
https://gtm.you1.cn/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=550824660

The only real thing this game lacks, is the fact that there is few choices that really impacts the story.
All in all, its a static story line, with limited choices of 2, and with only a few encounters where you'd need to make a choice.

Story line completion time:
If you read all the lines, without taking breaks, its a little over 2 and a half hour gameplay.

My personal opinion:
I really enjoyed the game, also with the 18+ patch, it made a huge impact on it.
I felt that the story line was a bit static, and the choices should've impacted the story even more.
As well as added in more choices and a bit more obstacles for the main character.

Opinion on voice acting/Sounds:
The overall game sounds and music fitted the theme of the game.
As far as the music selection, it was 2 tracks on repeat,
I really hoped that this game actually featured different sounds/music to each situation.
As far as the voice actors are, I felt that they put out the extra effort, and the 18+ patch also impacted by a big part.

Why did I decide to play this game?:
I got it from a friend as a christmas gift, and I really enjoy visual novels in general.
When it comes to Hentai, ecchi anime, love/romanace games/series, I can't resist not to play/watch it.

Art opinion:
The art in this game is purely amazing and well drawn. Also the 18+ patch art, was purely eye candy.
The nude art was on point, however there were only so few, I really wished there were even more scenes.
But in overall, I can say that I enjoyed the art.

My rating:
I would rate this game a 7 out of 10.
- Since it still lacks a lot of stuff that really seperates a okay visual novel from a great one.

I don't feel that I wasted 3.3 hours on this visual novel, but rather enjoyed all of it.
I would recommend this game to people who like Visual novels,
and who don't care too much about what I said above.

This game may not be better then the old classics, but I sure do love this type of game. The zombies mode were kinda facinating with the new system and game objectives. Would recommend it anytime.

Easy to handle map editing, game editing software. Handy to have if you work with for example Pokemon maps! Sad to see a lot of people dislike this software, imo its doing the work it should be doing.

Most people refer this game too the "first game that had zombies mode", but the real deal with this game is not just zombies.
It's also the best secret easter eggs scattered around the campaign. Also, this game featured CO-OP campaign, which was amazing! <3 One of the greater games from Call of Duty franchise!

Stunning graphics, just a bit sad that they ban you for graphic overhoul mods on multiplayer. Imo, the game is okay without graphic mods, but at times it does look pretty trash too... so you wish you had one.
Anyways, I kinda always hated the size of every update file and the times they pull out a new patch for the game.
I stopped downloading updates after last year christmas, which is unusual for someone like me to even do. :|
