No Man's Sky should be in a genre of its own: Discovery.

Those classifying the game into a survival game, space game, first-person shooter, simply aren't doing the game any justice.
It's not trying to be any of those things.

No Man's Sky is a game where the sole objective is discovery for discovery's sake. New species, new planets, new aliens, new languages, new trees, plants, fish, oceans, terrains, atmospheres, it's all about finding new things.

Trade, survival, civilizations, combat, all give your discovery context and meaning, but lead back to the roots of discovery for the sake of discovery, and what a lot there is to discover.

In my hours with No Man's Sky, I have been more immersed that any other game I've ever played, and I have an extensive library. Further, No Man's Sky technical marvels are beyond what I can possibly imagine.

If you have ANY sense of discovery, wonder, and adventure, then this game is for you. If you find that boring, or a silly premise for a game, then, by all means, don't play.

As far as technical issues go, I have faced none and the game plays around 40-60 fps in 1080p with an i7 3770k and a factory 980. Tips and tricks, try turning down the settings to Medium, still looks great and is very smooth, and also make sure your frame limited is set to Max in game.

TL;DR

If you have any wanderlust or adventure within yourself, I can recommend this game wholeheartedly. If you, on the other hand, need an objective, or a concrete point as to why you are doing things, then this game might not be for you.

I didn't know that cricket was big in New Zealand, do you play? Also New Zealand is the top place on my travel list. I had a chance to go a few years back because my cousin went to school there but I missed my opportunity.

You aren't kidding about the level of detail in Syndicate, it's the most detailed game I've ever played. I'll continue my thoughts on this in a message to you.

Hey buddy, just noticed you and I have the same amount of playtime in Syndicate at the moment. I'm loving it so far and it's quickly becoming one of my favorites in the series. I'm not very far into the story yet so my opinion could change for better or worse. I can't get over how incredibly detailed London is, most of my time has been spent running around the whole city. What are your thoughts so far?
