Don't get me wrong, I think it's a decent game and can be fun. However, there is an extreme lack of variety, which shouldn't be the case considering it's marketed as a rouge-like.

There are only four classes (three at the beginning, one which you unlock later) and they are fairly straightforward. You get a new ability for the class every so many levels, however it seems like at each tier you choose from one of two abilities which are always the same. The only thing I saw that was remotely rogue-like was that each of your characters can get either positive or negative traits, and that's it. No random powers or weapons, map designs are pre-generated and a somewhat small pool of enemies.

I do like the aesthetic of the game, and it's solid X-Com, however there are many better options.
