I found it to be a decent metroidvania, but nothing amazing. Combat often felt kinda messy and stunlocky, I wasn't big on the writing/atmosphere and certain visual effects were horrible to look at. I was invested enough to complete it, but it was starting to drag so I'm glad it wasn't any longer and I had no motivation to backtrack or really do anything other than directly follow the linear progression path. I'd probably give it a 6/10.

An emotional, heartwarming and funny story with some creative meta-element to both the plot and puzzles.
A world worth exploring for extra easter eggs and achievements just to spend a bit more time there.

Why turn to hard drugs or strong alcohol to destroy your soul when you can have anime girls in a literature club do it so much more effectively?

All these years later and this game is still due an awesome new content update. At the price point it's it, there's no excuse to not own this game.
