Awesome DLC as always by FromSoftware. Enemies and bosses are brutally difficult as expected, and lots of fun to figure out the new movesets.

Can't believe there's actual negative reviews because of how difficult it is. It's a souls-like game. It's supposed to be hard.

Most fun I've had with a major release in a long time. Great gameplay, fun mechanics. Gunplay and enemies are satisfying to fight against. The live service model is one of the best and most entertaining, and the roleplaying by the developers is highly amusing.

Let's be honest here..
Please note that this review is for the game's current state as of 12/27/2013
This purchase is not the purchase of a game.
THIS GAME IS AMAZING It's not.. really, as of 12/27/2013, it's not worth the money UNLESS YOU WANT TO FUND THE DEVELOPMENT!

I think this is the point that so many people are missing. If you are buying this game right now, you are not buying the game by any means. You aren't buying DayZ and you aren't buying your expectations(Except you DO get the full game when it's released). You're helping to fund the development of a game that could or could not succeed. In return, you're given an extremely basic, barebones version of the full-release of the game. Nothing is official, nothing should be judged or criticized unless it's to tell people to not help fund this game yet UNTIL it's worth the money.

Also realize that I love this game.. I don't dislike it a bit other than its bugs. But right now it's difficult to recommend to people just because of what's expected from 30 dollars. However depending on whether or not the money is worth it is up to you. I understand that I said that I recommend this game, however this review is going to be entirely neutral.

This is a purchase not recommended by the LEAD developer.
^ In case you didn't read up on this purchase before digging in.

Now for the "Review"

This game is very fun and entertaining in its current state. Perhaps I was more fortunate than others as this game runs much better than the mod did for me. It runs smooth, no problems at all. Although this may be different for many people so if you're worried that your system may not like it, don't expect much.

-The animations and overal look of this version are a huge improvement compared to the mod.

-Melee combat has been improved greatly. (NEVER GO STRAIGHT AT A ZOMBIE. If you strafe around in a circle while constantly clicking, you can take down every single one you encounter with your fists. I've done it before and got out without a scratch.

-Zombie A.I. is a huge improvement from the mod as they don't turn around and walk out of a building when they can see you, they don't just walk in buildings anymore, and they don't get stuck in corners/posts/trees anymore either. However they can go through doors and walls but not up stairs in some houses, so that's something to note.

-Guns are outstanding. They feel excellent and well refined. (Although don't use the pistols yet because the iron sights appear to be off a bit). If you liked ArmA's gunplay, you'll love this as well. The sounds for the guns are very good as well, I about fell off my chair the first time someone sprayed their M4 at me. Which NEVER happens in call of duty. (Btw, if you don't like anything other than COD gunplay, never buy a game based on the ARMA engine unless you want a decent challenge).

-There are VERY FEW guns in the game as of 12/27/2013, however this will definitely change.

-PvP gameplay against other players is very intense.

-Gameplay with the character overal feels very responsive and fun. Especially since you're going to be running long distances, you can help pass the time by enjoying the new animations in third persion view while you're walking (If you're that kind of person. xD)

-Finding loot: If you're in a heavily populated server, have fun. Most of the towns along the shore are probably looted unless everyone in the server has been playing with the same character for more than a few hours.

-Inventory System: I love this new system. I really feel as though I'm limited to how much I can carry depending on how I organize everything inside of my backpack, pockets, vest, jacket, anything you're wearing that has space to put something in, you can. However that also doesn't mean it's realistic as you can fit only 80 bullets or so in the pockets of your pants(But that's if you're wearing the pants with four slots), but you can fit two whole canteens in there. Or, only 4 can openers.

-Mental experience: Superb. I feel a lot more attatched and unwilling to part with my character compared to the mod especially since everythng is a lot harder to find.

-Starting out: Pants, shirt, shoes, flashlight, battery. That's it. Go find the rest. You don't start with bandages anymore, and you start out thirsty. Oh, and you also have to eat/drink more often too which makes it a lot more interesting. And drinking or eating once won't fully replenish it either. You'll need many.

Would I recommend this?
I would recommend this to people who want to help fund the development of the POTENTIAL(which means that it MIGHT BE FINISHED) game.

I would not recommend this purchase (as of 12/27/2012) who EXPECT MORE than the mod.

I would also recommend this purchase to people who don't mind buying it for a lower price now and waiting 6 to 12 months.
