First impressions, will update review later

The narration/writing is okay, nothing outstanding so far.
The introduction of the game is kinda boring and confusing, but some of it makes sense when you read the journal.
The DOF is atrocious. It blurs everything that is not in focus way too much to the point of being distracting. I wish there was a slider to adjust it.
I killed a wolf, walked over its body and fell through the map...then had to load and start back at the shelter.

As soon as an idea pops in your head its like you can't ignore it, even if its 3 am and you need to go to bed. This compulsion made me set up a long hypertube from my refinery to my main base, setup truck stations, refine the 5 km tractor path from the refinery to my main base, and make the truck stations look like nice warehouses/garages. There is just so much to do in this game (both content wise and objective wise).

The tutorial is bare bones but honestly learning things organically is the best part of this game. Build the factory rough at first to get parts made, then refine it to continue growing. You'll be thinking of how to improve your factory throughout the day. And when you fix the bottlenecks caused by not using the right conveyor belt or missing something simple, your brain will get a little buzz of serotonin and you'll feel like an idiot and a genius at the same time. You can take your time and work on whatever you want whenever you want... until you want to unlock more and then you force yourself to come up with a way to make more, and make it more efficiently.

One of the most rewarding games ever made. 10/10.

It's a low poly game that borrows the best concepts from Squad, Battlefield BC2/3/4, and other tactical FPS games. Instead of "breaking the formula", it's a class-based FPS where you fight over objectives as a team with simple gunplay mechanics that don't feel like you're drunkenly trying to piss on someone (aka BF 2042 at launch).

There's no wingsuits, gimmicky gadgets, convoluted class system, or bad UI design.
There's no operators, bad map design, or a complete lack of destructible buildings.

$50 is a little much for what is essentially DLC, but this is definitely worth $30 - $40. Story is great, side missions are okay. Only a couple of the side missions really stood out but they were nice to take a break from the campaign. I feel like they toned down the number of base missions which I liked imo. Finding the caches was okay.

The combat is actually even better with a new stealth mechanic and new abilities for this Spider-Man. It was nice seeing Miles struggle with his own Spider-Man journey and the dynamic between him and Peter Parker is really well written.

Should you buy?
Love Spider-Man: Buy it
Enjoyed Spider-Man but don't want to pay $50: Buy it on sale
Hate Spider-Man: ...Why are you even here?

A hidden gem among the star trek style bridge management games. I just wish missions were more free roam than being linear, but everything else is great.

My engineer was repairing an engine and the captain started evading phasmids ... which threw the engineer off into space. Luckily he had enough O2 to survive until we rendevouzed and tractor beamed him back onto the ship. It was intense and amazing

The polish on this indie VR love story to half life 2 is incredible. The climbing mechanics can be frustrating at times but the satisfying combat and impressive world design more than make up for it. Enjoy all the content here and wait for BONELAB to receive QOL updates and mods

If you love Telltale games and want to interact with stories about teens fleeing a country and meeting people along the way, you should stop reading this review and play Road 96.

* Summary *
Digixart somehow manages to capture the magical essence of coming of age teen adventures only seen before in "Life is Strange", and they're doing it in an interesting and new way. Road 96's first impressions, however, are actually... not that great. The characters, story, setting, and gameplay feel very cheesy in the first moments of playing. I think it takes about an hour to better understand how the game plays out and to emotionally connect with some of the characters. It actually shares many similarities with Telltale style games; even the art style reminds me of Telltale's "The Walking Dead" and "Monkey Island".

* Replayability *
The "Episodes" are broken up by you playing as different teens attempting to escape Petria by crossing the border. You might get a glimpse of a few stories with one teen and then continue those stories with the next teen you choose. Honestly, I was happily surprised the game did not technically finish after I first crossed the border. (A game at this price point could very well have done that.)
Actually, the game handles the replayability extremely well: you want to keep playing to see these other stories and discover more about what is happening in Petria. The possibility of each character not being able to cross the border weighs on you as you make choices to balance your energy and hopefully progress the story.

* Politics? *
This game actually doesn't feel like it's pushing a political agenda like other reviews seem to imply. You literally have a choice between being rebellious, political, or apathetic most of the time, and I believe you can choose to support either political candidate, or even neither. The story is politically motivated, but it isn't pushing a political statement/agenda like other games and developers have done.

EDIT: I have since played The Sinking City and I recommend it instead of this game. It has its flaws but they're really minor and can be overlooked. Call of Cthulu is a mess story wise and the gameplay isn't good enough on its own to justify playing it for 7 hours.

Original Review...

Was it fun? Sure.
Did the story make sense? Not even a little.

I actually got this game confused with The Sinking City when I bought it, and was very confused what the **** was going on throughout. All I remember thinking at the end of this was "What the hell did I just play and why did I keep playing it?".
I think trying to understand the abysmal story was the entire reason I kept playing.

Story: wtf/10
Gameplay: 4/10
Visuals: 7/10

Buy it when it's cheap if you're bored and have a surplus of alcohol
