This is X3 with a modern control scheme and really fantastic UI.

The combat is great, there is tons to explore, everything looks amazing.


I scanned someone and found contraband spacefly eggs. After relieving the individual of their illicit goods, I found a black market trader and sold the eggs. I undocked happily and started making my way to the nearest shipyard to begin refits, but got attacked and murdered.

So that's the story of how I got and lost my first 400k.

Space engineers has had a pretty rough and tumble early access experience. Seemingly originally designed as a way to simply smash deformable ships together in a mathematically accurate way, the game has molded into something entirely different.


The massive feature creep has meant that the game used to run like garbage and multiplayer was a whole field of bugs and it every client simulating the entire server caused large offerings to Clang as client and server synced up, teleporting things into one another.


Now however is entirely different. The game runs smooth as butter in single player and you are free to smash massive stations together to your hearts content.

While there is relatively little to do other than a large sandbox environment, mods really shine here. Mods such as exploration enhancement mod add trading, traffic, empty bases, everything. I currently play with a log string of content mods and I must say that screaming across the Martian desert at 130m/s swerving erratically to avoid gunfire while a hostile gunship is on my six is really intense.


As with any sandbox, user experience is entirely user dependent. I implore you to challenge yourself, spawn on a planet with no uranium, disable ion thrusters and atmospheric thrusters for bonus points, then combine with digis wing mod. The culmination of these mods means flight is no longer free and guaranteed, fuel (hydrogen) and power (batteries) is limited and you are constrained to your main base as it is where you can safely create a large enough solar grid to feed your machine. I like to add deep ores or a variant of it to even make mining challenging.

Planes are much more fun to fly than VTOL craft, hover engines are much more fun than wheels, and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mining is hard when you have to dig 200m down and have no magic thrusters.

Oh sweet a replacement for my No Man's Sky disappointment? Hooray!

Nope. This game is so early access it's basically everquest.

It's the lovechild of Ark: Survival Evolved and Space Engineers, except during the pregnancy Ark came down with a severe case of drug abuse and alcoholism and the baby was upside down in the womb while Space Engineers continued pounding that poon until the resultant cranial impacts forever debilitated the child.

I absolutely wish this game was what it looked like in the trailers. It's not.

EDIT: Its been updated a ton and is actually pretty fun.

The game was a pile of ♥♥♥♥ upon launch, it was basically the worlds first early access title without actually being called that. Basically, Kerberos ran out of money, so they launched prematurely, and of course this caused a massive ♥♥♥♥ storm with what was basically a fresh out of alpha game hitting store shelves.


They pretty much fixed it now, though. I've never had it crash on me, and it's the deepest, most autistic total war copy out there. It's honestly one of my favourites and if you want to dump 20 hours into one 20 star (theres 300 star systems) map, this is the game to do it.

I recommend naming your dreadnoughts and leviathans, it really gives it a cinematic feel when you see the SS 420 vent reactor plasma into the aether and you drive it towards the oncoming fleet in a climactic last stand.

THIS ♥♥♥♥ GIVES ME A BONER.

This is my favourite game ever and it totally and completely tickles my autism in such a way as to satisfy all of my primal urges.

Do yourself a favour and buy Supreme Commander Forged Alliance instead, and then download Forged Alliance Forever.

This game is so gloriously vulgar and gives infinitessimal ♥♥♥♥♥ about it, the game is all about ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ off and having fun and it delivers gloriously.

Really not much else to say, ♥♥♥♥ everything else, this game is the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ arma-mother-♥♥♥♥♥♥♥-derp-ageddon.

Even the great gary spivey himself was mystified, shocked, and outright bemused at the concentrated levels of raw awesome and badassery his fragile psychic mind was exposed to upon playing this game.

If the savior of Mr. Fantastic couldn't even handle this game, could you?

If you have any testosterone in your body, you will absolutely love this game. You play as what is essentially six foot five of solidified handsome in power armor, and smash the ever loving ♥♥♥♥ out of everything not caucasian. Some might say it's racist, some might say it doesn't matter, but most will simply never notice.

Apart from rudimentary demographics, the game is a balls to the wall third person action movie complete with as much tits as there is blood, gore, and forcibly injected testosterone, amphetamines, and synthetic adrenaline.

Playing this game taught me what it means to be a man.
