Broken promises will never be met.
I had so much hope for this game. Take Two reminded me why I shouldn't believe in humanity.

Thank you Arrowhead for making the 2024 Game of the Year. Yes, I'm calling it now.
Thank you Sony for ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ up so bad that you got the attention of the whole internet for the better part of a week. You were damn right to change your minds. Now leave us Helldivers alone and let us dive with our global brothers and sisters in peace.

I'll see you all on the front lines in the fight for liberty and democracy and family values.

It's really high quality and runs great. I was expecting a bit of frame loss as I've come to expect with Train Sim DLC and there is none at all. The team behind this route did an excellent job at optimization.

The model is incredibly detailed, I'll give it that.
But probably too detailed. The performance in-game is abysmal. Any time you look at the train in Exterior View, you lose around 25fps.
If it was better optimized, it'd be a much better value.

I grew up with the P40 and P42. I have two scale P40s that I bring to railroad clubs. So I was dead-set on getting this DLC. And overall, it's good. Wouldn't say it's the best, and it has a bit of a learning curve, it was a good buy. I love that on the Phase 3 livery, it includes the strobes above the cab windows, which were removed during the P40's rebuild. Though I'd be more satisfied with them if they flashed like the strobes you see on the NJ Transit F40PH DLC rather than like the ditch lights on the P42 DLC.

There are two things to be aware of, which I want to address before any reviews come out about the locomotives saying they're "undrivable":
1. The throttle and brake are reversed on this locomotive for some reason. So instead of A for accelerate and D for brake, it's D for accelerate and A for brake. This is reflected in the Throttle/Brake lever in the interface as well. You need to pull the lever down instead of up to get moving. If you push it upwards, you'll go into the Dynamic Brake.
2. When you get the locomotive set up in Quick Drive, the Independent Brakes will be applied by default. Haven't figured out a way around this, so you need to know to press [ to release the independent brakes for the locomotive before you can start moving.

My main complaints (other than the unorthodox control system) are the sounds and physics. They could be more realistic. The horn fits the locomotive, but it's not the old cast K5LA that I was expecting to hear from it (an example of the original horn can be found in this Youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgjTY2uq198). The prime mover also doesn't sound quite like the GE 7FDL16; there's no chug that the Genesis is known for during acceleration. But I'm glad the signature "Genesis whoop" of the air compressor is audible when idling. Speaking of acceleration, it gets going very quickly; way quicker than the 7FDL16 would in real life.
The rolling stock supplied with the P40 is great though. It's incredibly detailed, and the Amtrak box cars can add more realism to any Amtrak train they're a part of. 10/10 with the coaches.

I'm so happy that we finally have the P40 in the game. It's my favorite locomotive, bar none. And now that Train Simulator has the P40, it'll hopefully pave the way to the creation of liveries for other railroads that have used the P40, including NJ Transit and CTRail. That being said, the P40 itself has a few areas that should have been addressed before release. I'm hoping the aforementioned problem areas get resolved with patches, or physics and sound mods for the DLC.

All in all, I'll give the P40/AMD-103 a 7/10 when it comes to its execution, with those 3 missing points representing the future potential of this DLC, once it gets some love from the Train Sim modding community. Once it gets a physics and sound mod (ideally a physics mod that changes the throttle handle to normal), and hopefully some new liveries as well, I'll definitely give this DLC a 10/10.

I don't get how they managed to make a simple reskin of an existing locomotive completely broken (as in literally unplayable, the consist prevents the game from loading), but they managed to do it.
At least I now have the assets to apply the reskin to the existing U34 I have, and maybe that'll work, but at that point, why bother?

Subnautica is one of the best survival horror games I've ever come across. There is an ever-present and overwhelming sense of danger and sheer terror in Subnautica that few survival horror games get right. Subnautica nails it. From the very beginning of the game to the very end, you are in constant fear of everything in the ocean wanting you dead, and you are never truly safe from that. And I honestly love that about Subnautica.
Not to mention the story, atmosphere and soundtrack are all amazing, to say the least.

One of my friends in a Discord server gave me the code for a copy of Rocket League on Wednesday, August 24. As of August 27, I've logged over 19 hours in the game and reached Level 15.

He made a big mistake. I have been seen in Discord very rarely since then.
