Such a top-notch, high quality remake in terms of truthfulness to the original!!!

This sounds, looks, feels and plays like the original! If you're really courageous, F2 toggles to old-school 2D rendering.

The even ported iMuse over/did General MIDI music - impressive, most impressive!!! Can we now have X-Wing 95/TIE Fighter 95 with proper MIDI music pretty pretty please???

This is gold-standard of how a classical remaster should be - not visual alterations/reinterpretations but a pleasing rendition running on modern hardware with just enough adaptation/innovation like controller support.

This is another really great game, art and story - and it is a game for mature audiences with topics like torture, violence and murder lurking in the air; sometimes shown, sometimes just hinted at.

And yes it's true, the user interface may need some getting used to even with a gamepad. But it is also something fresh and unique that no-one has done before (like LA's coin UI). If you don't have one, do yourself some good and get an Xbox 360 controller. It will benefit you in so many games except you're just playing traditional PnC adventures all the time.

In the contrary to some other re-interpretations of the genre the core mechanics are those of a proper classical adventure - inventory system, combination of inventory items, dialog/dialog options and event-based dialog, exchanging items with other characters.

Some stuff is easy in this game but I'm now having my second show stopper being stumped on how to proceed or what I might have overlooked; the interaction possibilities of the UI like "self exploration" demand some out-of-the-box thinking you may not be used to from traditional adventures.

And please, don't let people tell you you don't need to play the first part and just this one - this sequel spoilers all the important and mysterious plot points and twists en passant at the very beginning of the game without much tension or excitement. Do yourself a favor - don't get spoiled, play the first game FIRST, then enjoy this sequel to enrich your Yesterday experience with more background story and mystery. The first part is genious in that regard because it will disturb you totally at the end of the very first chapter and then start to raise so many questions whose threads just come together at the end of the game.

This is a kind of adventure you probably haven't played before. And I'm not only talking about some design decisions that give it slightly different mechanics but rather that this is a more thriller-like game for certainly a mature audience. Your shock will come right at the end of the first chapter when your innocence will be taken from you ;-)
This game also breathes from plot twists.

Regarding the mechanics it is an almost-classical point-and-click adventure game; things that stand out are:

* inventory interactions are drag-and-drop
* hotspots have a cartoonish zoom-in view as do the dialogs
* There is no "double-click teleport" like in other games, your character is "jumping" (or rather fading) from one location to the other if there is a certain distance to cover. It can feel a bit weird but speeds things up a lot.

And as many already mentioned, it is on the shorter side though I had about two to three stuck-ups where it took me some time to figure out what I could and should do. Busy people like me may even appreciate a shorter game for a change that can be finished with all endings in managable time, admiring the art then moving on to other pastures. (Endings can be varied just by loading your last save then jumping forward using the star-symbol to the end scene; a blessing if you have other games piling up)

Get it if you can handle it ;-) Especially with the summer sale it's a no-brainer to get for adventure afficionados.

A beautiful artsy and touching game. You can die in this but there's always a per-scene rewind option. It's not a classic point-and-click adventure game, more like a hidden-object game/visual novel.

If you like emotional narratives and sci-fi then get this. Recommended.

A great game with a lot of humour and clichés! Yes it's short but this is Indie stuff, they need more money to go episodical. Go buy it and have fun, boyo! ;-)

This is a piece of art. True, it has more from an interactive film than a classic adventure since inventory and item usage only occur sparingly throughout the game. Yet still, this is a must-play. Chapters looks drop-dead gorgeous on modern hardware, sometmes the graphics look like painted. It is funny yet also has a lot darker, mature tendencies like addressing fascism and genocide. It can feel oppressing at later stages. For me it's an emotional rollercoaster ride for mature gamers and I'm proud to be a backer of it. Maybe you need a certain degree of empathy to fully appreciate this game. And do yourself a favor, at least try playing it in English if you're not native. The voiceovers are great except that of Na'ane.
I'll probably go back to TLJ and Dreamfall TLJ some time in the future to fully grasp the story arc. Yet questions remain since in my view the TLJ/April arc is not fully finished.
As I said the only negative, if you will, can be that it transcends the classical adventure genre (which, to be honest, Dreamfall TLJ already did).

It is hard to find words for this. This game is so unexpectedly beautiful and innovative (co-op). Maybe it even improves your eye-hand-coordination ;-)

If you're a savorer of atmosphere, surroundings and sound and are empathic, this game is for you. If you're into action and can't await the next kill then this is not for you.

Go buy, go and immerse yourself and be astounded! Let yourself get carried away.

Edit: After finishing it, I'm just speechless. I'm deeply moved, this is art. This is more intense than you might think at the beginning but I won't spoil.

I'm so sorry - even now with 1.06, read some episodes:

- Tried the new tutorial, how to play; got to the explore derelict task - but the derelict never appeared :-) :-(
- Started a new game and despite in a sector with "low" threats, there were plenty of hostile ships chiming in from time to time.
- I was expanding my base; suddenly I got hails from friendlies. Two new ships/buildings appeared; one docked in the middle of a room building operation leaving it inaccessible; the other docked on a wall that had a ship engine. I could access the latter by cutting a wall and tearing down the engine to free the main entrance, but the former still inaccessible.
- There's a dead raider lying in the room to be the second reactor room. I can not build a power generator since the raider blocks it - seems bodies just don't disappear. I also have a floating dead astronaut in the middle of my bar; he was killed when the room didn't even exist.

I've spent hours in the game but only got frustration out of it - whatever progress I made, disappearing floor tiles, stupid AI, bugs, ... ruined it. Maybe I should finally uninstall it - I'd have had fun with it if it had been more mature.

In my view, the low metascore of around 43 is not justified. I'm a single-player-guy so sorry, can't say much about any potential co-op glitches.

But for SP, if you are at least a bit "trekkish" and liked the movie reboots then you'll certainly like (or love) this game. In my view, this is a very atmospheric and cinematic game, I often sit in front of the screen looking at an in-game sequence that feels like a movie or TV episode shot. Especially the Enterprise model is very well done. And, for soundtrack lovers like me out there, it features a grand score in the spirit of the new movies. Internet says it was done by Chad Seiter, who is working with the original composer, Michael Giacchino. Soundtrack's definitely a treat adding to an epic feel.

Some complain about the AI but for my taste, there can be some very frustrating moments where you have to play over and over again - in case you challenge yourself to get all the commendations. The low-violence/stealth parts can be quite hairy especially at the beginning where you lack XP/upgrades. And you can also go with hard level should you find it too easy.

I also can't see lag or glitches, maybe my machine is overpowered for it (though it is "only" an i7 generation 2). I suppose it was two times in over 40 hours where I really got myself stuck in wall, once jumping around in silly spots on the Gorn planet and yesterday where a dematerialize-maneuver too close to a wall pushed me inwards. Aside that, very stable gameplay for me.

I don't know with what you play, but an XBOX controller or equivalent is highly recommended if not a must - I guess that's also a reason why gameplay feels so smooth for me. Sometimes targeting the "B" stealth spots isn't optimal, depending also on level architecture.

To sum it up, this is a fun cinematic action title to enjoy and the sight and sound of it, including adrenaline rushes - if you define your game experiences just by frag counts and rushing through levels, this is not the game for you.
