A very simple adaptation of Google Earth into Virtual Reality is a very welcome concept for a free application.
Being able to see your house, memorable locations, famous landmarks or faraway places from a VR perspective is something else entirely.

The fixed human scale setting *really* makes it something else when you can fly around your neighborhood *just* like in that one dream you may have had where you were able to fly freely.
Alternatively, using the default stereoscopic distance scaling with altitude, it can make you feel like you're looking down on a miniature diorama of where you live or where your dream location could be or you're a 100 ton Atlas AS7-D at the right height.

Reality Hazards: Practically non-existent. You aren't going to be swinging and flailing around with this though I will note that it gave *me* motion sickness when games like Project CARS 2 or Minecraft (using Vivecraft) never made me feel uneasy. This probably stems from going between the top-down view where the stereoscopic distance scales to give an impression of size change and using fixed human scale when closer to the ground, the extreme stereoscopic change is what really can upset your eyes (and your stomach). Though, like GORN, the game has a comfort mode enabled by default that tunnels out your vision to a very small amount near the center of your field-of-view so that your brain doesn't get confused at the perception of acceleration without the feeling of acceleration.

Overall opinion? It's a free app so if you have a Rift, Vive, Mixed Reality or whatever else then try this experience out at the very least.

So after an agonizing wait to get the money to buy and set up a Rift, countless hours tinkering with setup to link to Steam VR. I finally got to experience this game and let me tell you that I wouldn't know 90% of the actions with these weapons if I didn't watch the animations in all sorts of videogames (particularly Customizable Weaponry in GMod and the animations for Firearms: Source weapons that taught me things such as loading shells into a tube-fed shotgun's breech then closing it).

The only thing that's obviously missing is the sensation of recoil and shouldering but holding your primary hand as close to your shoulder as possible helps with sighting and there is an option to have weapons shoulder and follow your head for easier sighting when both hands are holding it. That and two-handed weapons, particularly automatic weapons, have a simulated kick that makes successive shots off-target of where your controller is being pointed, encouraging two-handed usage.

I have to give props to Anton's *wonderful* attention to detail on each weapon and how you can interact with it. Using the trigger on specific points of a weapon such as an additional switch or bipods deploys them and it's how you switch the FAMAS F1 between burst and automatic once the safety is off and switched past semi-automatic for example

Compatability with Rift? Pretty well despite the fact that the store does not say anything about Rift compatability, you can use Rift and the controllers show up in game. The game was built around using the HTC Vive but if I can play F-Zero GX with an XBox 360 controller then I can play this game with the Touch controllers. Track pad actions are performed by clicking in the stick and holding it in the various directions (without the locomotion enabled). Backward+Click ejects handgun magazines, Forward+Click toggles safety, etc

The sound design is pretty realistic and credible. Suppressed weapons are not super quiet as you might think, the volume is just reduced to a "PAFF" or "PING" that's not painful on the ears (in real life, anyways). Grenade launcher weapons such as the aptly named M79 Thumper or "Blooper" emits an accurate, if silly, "bloop" or "thoop" rather than a bassy, cannon-like noise (I'm looking at you, Left 4 Dead 2)

The graphical design is rather simplistic but realistic enough that it remains believable and immersive to play. Just try jumping off the top of the Breaching Proto building (enable trackpad movement) and your heart will jump the first time you do it. The resolution, like on most Steam VR, defaults to a very low resolution, making sighting in handguns and weapons without holographic or illuminated sights difficult. Change the resolution settings to somewhere around 150% everything should be more clear (it also helps to wear glasses if you're nearsighted like I am). The physics can be changed between being playful or more realistic where everything drops like you'd expect but, like any game with persistent physical objects, do be wary of leaving too many items piled around. I've crashed the game with too many objects from shooting the stuff in Breaching Proto so make sure to use the Cleanup Scene button (turn your controller toward yourself to show the menu) to remove spent casings, empty magazines and clips (yes, *actual* clips like those used to load many of the bolt action rifles, there is a difference) and other objects, and toss weapons into the bin when you're done.

Unlike most FPS games with varying animations, how you treat your gun is up to you. You can do the stupid reloads like flicking breeches and cylinders closed or you can do it properly. The game even lets you perform HK slaps (not only cool but actually safe to do) on weapons that allow the bolt to be locked back by brushing your controller against the bolt in the expected action. I would vouch that this game is the game people should play before going out onto a real range after they've built good habits and discipline.

Reality Hazards: This is my new review segment for hazards when dealing with objects in reality. Not only should you consider the horizontal area when playing this game but the ceiling height as well. I've smacked the support beams of the basement tossing dynamite around. The threat of harm and damage comes from when you come just a bit too close to the boundaries of your play area and you're swinging weapons or throwing grenades about but typical action of holding weapons close and reloading presents little risk as long as you're using an appropriate roomscale setup.

Another positive thing about this game is how, despite the simulation, it doesn't take itself very seriously. The enemies are goofy ranging from flying bots to armed soldier hot dog robots. There are no human enemies that spill blood and the assortment of misc items like tippy toys, fireworks and attachable flags bumps the silliness scale to 11.

Rift or Vive, this is one of my *must-play* games for any VR owner as it has content for varying degrees of intensity from a relaxing day shooting cans and clay pots to intense combat situations where you're fighting enemies that can shoot back.

A sequel to the amazing Jedi Outcast that has you play as a new character who would become a major character in Legends novels: Jaden Korr (canonically male human with brown hair).

This game gives a more freeform approach to the mission selection but done so in a tiered manner, complete 4-5 missions in a tier and you move through a series of story levels. Each mission taken allows you to advance in a rank of either a Light Side or Dark Side power but, unlike Jedi Knight, your choices do not affect the ending (minor spoilers). This does lead to the game becoming absolutely broken by acquiring powers such as Rank 3 Heal so my self-imposed challenge is to only advance powers to the rank of the current tier of missions (I.E. you cannot have Rank 2 Grip until after getting to the tier 2 missions)

Some of the new saber mechanics are also a big draw of the game and probably capitalized on the Prequel Trilogy depiction of sabers. At the start of the third tier, you can construct a double-bladed saber ala Darth Maul, wield two sabers or (canonically) construct a single saber and unlock the third combat style. There are also new moves to be performed and you can look them up via the datapad on how to perform them such as saber katas, long jumps, etc.

I didn't cover this in my Outcast review but before you start playing either this or Outcast with a widescreen monitor, go to the console (Shift+`) and type these three commands:
r_mode -1
r_customwidth [Screen width, typically 1920]
r_customheight [Screen height, typically 1080]
videorestart (this restarts the rendering and applies the custom settings)

If that doesn't work, locate the SP/MP executables, go to properties, then compatibility and tick "disable video scaling at high DPI settings"

This game, along with Outcast, is a *must-play* for Star Wars fans.

*This* is where the Dark Forces saga shines brighter than the core of the second Death Star.

Moving onto the extremely popular idtech3 engine of Quake III: Arena meant that this game and Academy has a massive multiplayer following and a ridiculous amount of mod content and ease of content creation.

The first half of the game, however, is extremely painful without a lightsaber. Even when you reacquire the Force and your saber, the game puts you in the worst possible level for saber combat: surrounded by Rodian snipers and Grans slinging thermal detonators to blast you into the abyss of Nar Shaddaa. However, once you start reconnecting with the Force a little bit more, you can do some rather fun things like using a stream of bolts from a turret to mow down a squad of Stormtroopers with Rank 3 Saber Defense.

This game also gives us, in my opinion, the *best* control scheme for a lightsaber in an FPS Star Wars game. The elevation of your cross-hair and directions of your movement keys affect the type of saber swing you will do and your attacks can be chained into a combo. This makes the saber combat oddly visceral with all sorts of clashes and parries that can be performed when fighting Sith Reborn. I've had cases where I've broken a saber lock against one foe, only for his buddy to parry my blade before I could finish off the first guy.

This game, and Academy, is a *must-play* for any Star Wars fan.

The whole dgVoodoo thing is required for this game as with Jedi Knight. Read my review there.

I remember playing the demo to this game a lot but playing the whole game was an exercise in frustration at times, some of the puzzles are really cryptic and hard to figure out without a walkthrough and the final three levels are just plain *painful* to go through (for context without any spoilers, none of your weapons work, leaving you with just your fists and saber, and all of the enemies are either physical attackers or saber-wielding, meaning your shields amount to squat)

I also do not understand why the bitrate for all of the sound effects are worse than they were in Jedi Knight. I guess this has to stem from limited disk space at the time and chances are this game had even more content than Jedi Knight which probably led to a compromise.

Some positive things I can say is this game has two notable voices I remember. First being Terry McGovern voicing the base commander, various pirates and the stormtroopers and maybe more. He did a *boatload* of voices for other Star Wars games back then and he's also the voice of characters like Dominic "Gunner" Paine of MechWarrior 3, Connor Sinclair in MechWarrior 3: Pirate's Moon, Bill Ding and Studs Lincoln of LEGO Island, Launchpad McQuack in Ducktales and their related works among *many* others.
The voice for Kyle was done by Rino Romano who went on to voice Alexander Munro of the Star Trek: Elite Force duology. The first game of which was developed in part by Raven Software who would go on to develop the next two games of the Dark Forces saga, Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy.
Funny how two space franchises with a fandom rivalry have a lot in common with the videogames, huh?

I cannot recommend this game, it's brutally unfair even on the easiest difficulty.

Despite this game getting modern resolution support when 3D Acceleration is enabled, it still has rendering issues with textures, allowing you to peer beyond the level and trigger the infamous HOM effect. Download and run dgVoodoo to set up this game (namely disabling the watermark and also allowing fast video memory access), this will allow the level-of-detail for textures and 3DOs (3D Objects) to render properly.

If you're playing this game for a story experience then it's fairly solid, if with a bit of daytime soap opera acting.

The saber combat is okay but otherwise very clunky and almost suicidal when facing many enemies at once, it's just better to use your weapons as the game aims for you, making Kyle's signature Bryar pistol one of the best general purpose weapons.

An issue with the JEDI and SITH engine comes in the form of climbing into vents. Holding duck makes you slide away on slopes, making it impossible to crouch jump into vents at times.

I had a pretty solid experience with this game but I can't recommend it for everybody.

I wish there was an option to choose between Yes and No on recommendation.
This game was fun with a few cryptic puzzles here and there but it's a Doom-style game so really you can't blame the maze-like nature.
Really, the only way to enhance the value of this game is if it had a source-port like GZDoom for the Doom games and Aleph One for the Marathon trilogy but this game did introduce more featureful things such as allowing floors to overlap each other for things such as bridges and multi-story buildings along with the ability to look up and down, and secondary fire to most weapons

It also just goes to show how much of an easy time Kyle had getting the plans compared to a certain other group of Rebels in the new canon (make Katarn canon, Disney! ARGH!)

So in short: If you're a fan of the 2.5D maze-nature of Doom then I can give this game a recommendation. Otherwise you may as well skip this game.

tl;dr Version: If you like watching those house flipping shows or enjoy games similar to Viscera Cleanup Detail or Demolition Company Gold then this game would be a good buy.

Full Version: I got both a coupon and this game was on sale so I decided that spending $11 on a relatively new game would be worth it and I've already got my money's worth out of it.
The game can be broken down into two distinct ways of earning money. First being the inbox of various jobs that you perform and are limited to specific tasks or actually buying old, damaged and unloved houses to give them a (literal) fresh coat of paint for potential buyers that fit into distinct stereotypes.
The mechanic of installing new items piece-by-piece is a neat one, it shows you how they would be installed and it certainly fascinates me like the way you remove the bolts on the back of the washer to let the drum hang freely. While that mechanic does get a little tedious, the process is sped up by investing the skill points that you earn for doing this.

Likes: Very fun and unique concept if you're the kind that likes DIY games like I do. It's fairly cheap and even cheaper if you used the coupons and sale like I did. It has that sense of satisfaction seeing an old, dilapidated house turn into a brand new home for a willing buyer.

Neutrals: It's weird that this game got free Day-One-DLC in the form of Apocalypse Flipper but it doesn't detract from my enjoyment because 1: it's free DLC and 2: it was probably added when this game graduated from Early Access as a form of celebration... If reading Protect & Survive is a form of celebration.

Gripes: The game has that awkward Unity feel (if this game isn't built in Unity, let me know), the movement is very stiff and the character models are approaching the deepest depths of Uncanny Valley. The buyer system is hard to figure out as, even after doing what seems like what they want, their price does not increase such as trying to appeal to Chang only for Dolan Trusk (haha, funny) to be the primary buyer.

This game is a *vehicle simulator* and not strictly intended as a simulation racer like you'd expect from Project CARS 2.
Really, BeamNG.drive can be any vehicular game you want it to be: cruising, rock crawling, crash testing, stunt driving, baja, road trip, tuning. In essence: the GMod of driving games.

Some Pros:
While the vehicle selection is limited, the variants that each vehicle series has keeps it diverse.
The fact that the cars are fictional doesn't detract from the game because they're designed so believably and act realistic enough to their real counterparts that you sometimes forget you're driving something that doesn't exist.
This game works great as a teaching tool to vehicle handling, especially with a high-end steering wheel that has a manual stick. It's certainly helped teach me more about how cars work than any other game.

Some Cons:
Most certainly feels empty if you're the only car on the road. I understand adding traffic would strain even the toughest CPUs but I was thinking of traffic consisting of cars that are just one solid object in the physics engine until you colide with them.
Need more national diversity with the cars, we have plenty of Japanese and American made cars but we need to represent Italy, Germany and especially the U.K. more, maybe even Australia for more RHD cars alongside the U.K.
Torque 3D doesn't seem like the game engine to support dynamic loading which is *essential* if the career mode is going to be a big, sprawling map. Examples like Roane County and American Road are big and sprawling but take up a stupid amount of RAM due to loading it in all at once rather than loading and unloading dynamically like most other games such as Test Drive Unlimited (2) would.

Rather than write a review, I made a video review of this game https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Sag8-L6x-A
tl;dw version: A new take on the audio-generated idea but needs some improvements such as workshop and maybe more track diversity (things like pipes, reverse pipes, no edges for more dangerous racing, etc.)
