Despite Steam saying I've put only 1.6 hours into the game, I have actually spent upwards of 3 hours attempting to make a character only for it to crash within 10-30 minutes. I have not yet been able to successfully make a character and until they take the time to fix this issue, I'll just have to live without the second iteration of one of my favorite games.

Capcom, get your ♥♥♥♥ together.

Edit: After going through the crash log and looking up the error, it is resolved by editing the config file in the game folder and changing the game from running DX12 to DX11. This shouldn't be necessary, but at least I'll be able to play the game now. Maybe Capcom will take the time to fix the issues and eventually I too can play with DX12.

Hey, I fully completed this game back in September and Steam Awards needs us to support our favorite games. This is me telling you to go buy this and complete it. It is such a beautiful game that brings a bunch of your favorite JRPG mechanics from years past into one seamless package. While you are at it, make sure to show your support on the nominations page. They've put their hat in the ring with the, "Outstanding Visual Style Award," but you can add them to any category you'd like by manually searching it.

I'll see you... in the Sea of Stars.

A great start but feels like a direct clone to Forager in 3D. Can be 100% completed in about 5-5.5 hours and feels decently fleshed out. Biggest issues lie in the lack of consistency between islands and object placement. You can't rotate objects nor can you create platforms for objects so you end up with awkwardly placed collectors and mining pylons that struggle to cover the areas you plant them in.

What a disappointment. Played quite a bit having fun with buddies running forts and maxing them out to grind up gear only to find out the game is 10% of what every other Far Cry game has to offer with a massively disappointing ending that has no real impact to the characters or you as a player.

Worth $5 if you can get it on sale.

After spending approximately 24 hrs to get 100% completion, the game is simple and fun for about 3-5 hours and eventually becomes such a drag to play through. The game was built under the guise that the gameplay alone could save a game with so little story it could be considered prehistoric. If that wasn't the worst part, without multiplayer to pad the dull moments, you find yourself in a map similar in size to other Far Cry titles that is filled to the brim with close to 5 different quest types. This ranges from Escort missions (...yay...) to king of the hill.

If you can get past these issues and avoid attempting to 100% the game, the game has a few great qualities available. Firstly, taming. Spending the time to get every tamable creature is a joy and encourages you to search the map for creatures that will assist you throughout the game or just block every doorway you could ever dream of. Being able to then mount some of them makes travel much easier. Of course this is behind the facade that any of them really have much difference. The stats between the 6 different categories of beasts change slightly as you reach rare ones and each category has its own passive as well. With more variety and more tamable beasts in any future title that attempts this, we could see an incredibly fun way to get new allies.

Secondly, crafting. This game is jam packed with crafting options and village upgrades for any Far Cry fans. While the upgrades are minor, unlocking new weapons through new villagers makes the game much easier as you collect stronger and more interesting weapons. This comes with the caveat that this game is Far Cry Primal and you are hard pressed to find anything more interesting than, "Bow now two arrow, big damage."

In the end, this is a Far Cry game stripped of the decent stories they love to present and left with the shell of a combat simulator and it has left me disappointed and frustrated. The game had far larger aspirations for what they wanted to do and with so much to do it made everything a chore. If you are willing to spend the time exploring everything, you may find a single easter egg and dozens of copy paste locations.

5/10 Urki best character.
