This game is and unbelievably fun rogue-like. It's worth every penny. Don't miss out.

Lots of characters, lots of builds. The shop reroll mechanic paired with item merging is amazing. If you play/like the core of Teamfight Tactics, you WILL love this game.

The only 'issues' I have with the game:
-Late game items. They are insanely strong but, once you know what you are doing, you will find these often and the builds seem to merge a little bit
-Lack of crit chance giving items to enable more builds. You have to specifically take crit chance pre-game and then keep floor 1-2 equipment

good game but incredibly short. for £5, its good though.

8/10 experience
2/10 length
3.5/10 scares
2/10 story

games lasts 100~ minutes and is more of a creepypasta than a horror game. it's got a little cult following so if you stream you'll get roleplayers in the chat, like undertale, but undertale has a fully fleshed out story

game has 2 actual "horror" sections but they last 1-2 minutes each that are suspenseful and actually really cool, but, again, they are so incredibly short and the "scares" are suuuper lackluster.

i feel like the dev has some really amazing foundations for this game, similar to doki doki lit. club but it needs a slower burn or more minigames. the way it interacts with your pc is amazing as well.

I'VE SPENT 120 HOURS OF MY LIFE GRINDING KILLS AND SPEEDRUNS FOR LEVELS ONLY TO FIND OUT LATE GAME SUPER EXPENSIVE AND TIME LOCKED MASKS AND WEAPONS CANNOT BE CUSTOMISED. THERE IS LITERALLY NO REASON TO PLAY THIS GAME BEYOND COMPLETING EVERY HEIST TWICE (one loud one stealth, they even play out in the same ways lol!)

Do NOT buy this game for another year. MINIMUM.

Starbreeze is employing the No Man's Sky tactic of not getting involved after server issues and will likely remain silent for months until a large DLC/update to the game. Don't expect ANYTHING from them. Approach this the same way as No Man's Sky, wait.

PD3 player count is around 3k and PD2 is around 50k now. This game has unofficially been boycotted.

Personal note: I have searched for multiple hours, potentially days, for a Roman combat game that is actually interesting mechanically and is also satisfying overall. This is one that is both visually and mechanically great. If you're looked online for Roman era games and keep seeing Total War or (for some reason) Civ 5/6/7, then look no further, Brother. The only other game I would consider a great Roman era game for combat/depth is Mount and Blade 2 with specfic mods installed to "Romanise" it, although I haven't played it yet myself due to $$.

No other gladiator game compares to this. It's one of one. So much love is put into it and the *devs actually actively listen to the community*. This is the closest in quality and fun to Ryze: Son of Rome that you will get. Domina/Total War, which are (at times) fun management games but aren't you actually fighting with your OWN character in the heat of battle. Better still? They have added little combat missions/events for you to do where you are actually ON A BATTLEFIELD FOR THE EMPEROR! These aren't massive in scale but, by the gods, is it cool.

We're in a time where AAA games are almost all awful, this is a gem "indie" that people cherish, don't miss out on this game. *At least* try it for 2 hrs on steam refund, you're gonna get your ass kicked a couple of times but after an hour, you'll be up to speed and maiming! :D

Update:
New armours, maps, weapons, starting classes have released at an average of 2-3 large content updates a year (which is increasing due to the dev team expanding!). These updates all include the same content I just listed and more I didn't, MANY bug fixes and SO many QoL improvements.
I'm personally just waiting on the ability to have your own ludus where you can train others who fight by your side for some added depth, although the dev (I don't think) has mentioned this being a current focus as of 01/02/2025.

game is a little bit difficult to get into (first 2-4 hours) but its always engaging with quests that can give exotics etc.

anyway, give it a chance, its not pay to win. its also free (buying the season pass will give you more epic loot and trigger that dopamine you want)

Guns don't feel like they have any learning curve
Enemies don't look scary or attempt to stalk you to add to a scary atmosphere
Taking and dealing damage feels empty as you get tapped with weird bolts of light
For £30 this game is not a good game. I don't care about early access. Massively overpriced with no progression system and the game doesn't scale from player size.

This game just puts weird crawling things with crystals on them to run at you in a zerg rush fashion and just feels cheap as they don't really die most of the time from headshots considering you have like 3 mags of ammo and the scariest thing about this game is when you start it up, something screams at you for a cheap jumpscare.

Don't bother at all with this. Wait a few months or a year before checking it out because it's just dead and the player base numbers show you this. Trailers are misleading to make you think there are character communications when I never heard any and it's as scary as the f***ing muppets and the worst part is, I scare pretty easily.

"But you didn't play much of it!". You don't need to play much of a game to get whats going to be a constant throughout. The opening sequence of a game is meant to grip a player and make them want more, I just got a sense of confusion and boredom.

MAY THE GODS STRIKE ME DOWN FOR THE HIDEOUS AMOUNT OF TIME I HAVE ON THIS GAME

its good with new dlc but i DESPISE the paradox dlc formatting. the subscription is a nice addition for this to be fair to them though.

i have months away from the game and come back, only to rekindle the addiction again until im burnt out. for sure you should get this if youre looking at a strategy game.

Single player lasts maybe 4+ hours per game if you know what youre doing (depends on who you play etc though)

Multiplayer now uses steam invites and likely needs to run in 4 speed and might last 7+ hours just based on that. if you plan to play with friends, either coop or play nations that compliment eachother because if someone dies, they will just have to sit and do nothing. hint: they will leave

10/10 game. No microtransactions. Amazing maps, monsters and hunters. Open to all skill levels.

You HAVE to try this game for yourself as it is mainly a skill based game but anyone can still play. Just be aware that there are really good players who play this game often and know exactly what to do and when to do it. Your first games will not be the best if you've never played/seen gameplay because 1) you want to look at the stunning world around you and 2) you just don't know the mechanics of this 4v1 game. Don't think I'm insulting you - the player - this is just anybodies reaction to such a beautiful game. Noone has gone into a new game and not stopped to admire their environment for even a minute.

Gameplay:
4 people track a solo player (the monster) down and desperately try to exterminate the threat before it grows into it's next stage were it's talents become more vicious and un-forgiving. The monster must hide it's tracks from the bloodthirsty hunters and eat the surrounding wildlife to gain energy for evolution so it may fight back bigger and harder. Note: the role of monster takes a lot of skill if you are opposed by skilled hunters. But you must stay determined! (some will get that)

An honest opinion of the game and it's current state:
This game is astonishing for a free to play. The characters have a story behind them all so you aren't just playing as a cardboard cut-out with guns. The monsters are all unique and do NOT share any skills other than smelling their environment for prey to devour. All their other skills range from terrain altering to fire spitting to trap laying to even self-destructing!

Again, be aware that this game is in the development stage so please for the love of God don't post a negative review saying that this game has bugs. The fact that 'beta' is all over the game literally screams to the player/s that it has issues that may be removed/tested/altered. I've seen reviews claiming that the player couldn't find the monster and that meant it was a boring and unfair game. It's hard to believe that someone would not realise that the player they were against was of a higher skill group but what's worse is that this particular player has spent 1.3hrs on record!!!

Bugs are common, especially for a game that has been comepletely re-worked to support fair games on a free to play level and also allow people of many skill groups to partake in the loveable game that is now Evolve Stage 2. People suggested that they add cars to the game so it's easier for hunters. Just let that one sink in. Cars... against a monster who tears through flesh and metal for surviaval. They also asked for the maps to be cut down. I can see why they want that but to be honest, the map size isn't just for a good gameplay area, it's also for immersive games. Where you feel like you are actually on a different planet entirely that has a HUGE surface area.

Another great thing is that there are NO MICRO-TRANSACTIONS! That's right, folks! Now you can play a AAA game for FREE with absoloutely 0 corner cutting rich kids who buy their way to victory.

Turned into very slight rant there. I do sincerely apologise but I can't just sit here and watch the overall opinion of the game decrease just because someone couldn't find a monster on their 1st game. See how ridiculous that sounds?

I've played Evolve 1 since it's first week of release and to be fair, I am a strong fan of this game. However, I am not a die hard, must protect this game kind of player. I only wrote this review purely because a few people decided to down vote this game for reasons that stupidity cannot fathom. All in all, this game is amazing. I enjoy playing solo, however as with most games, it is a lot more enjoyable with your friends.
