Hi T4dd, I had the same reservations. I think it might be wise to wait for expansions to get something really different. As much as I hate to say it, it feels like a Civ5 in space reskin, with a lot less personality... Still a great game but I'd want more if I paid full price ( got a gifted copy).

Hey D&A, how do you like Civ Beyond Earth? I am highly intrigued but cautious... does it seem like it needs more expansions to be truly magnificent?
