Early Access Review
Pretty good! a lot different but somewhat better in some ways than i was expecting, very high quality I will definitely be checking out the second chapter. keeping in mind i played the EA it on day 1, here's my thoughts and criticism. (this is more of a my review to the developers)

While I don't have a great computer it was still enjoyable even with how it runs on mine with just a few visual and audio bugs that could be a bit debilitating sometimes, all the cutscenes at the start I did not get to see because it was all just black, some doors would open to darkness and only load when i enter while it would freeze for a bit and some horrible audio crackle that would only show up around when you first run into the chickens around the electrocuted water, it make all audio unlistenable. all this i think primarily could be just for poor computers like mine.

For the actual gameplay I found the melee aspect rather choppy and annoying, i'd have to be practically making out with an enemy to hit it and even then sometimes it just would not hit, the devs may have made it that way for a reason but its just not fun to have to be THAT close and still somehow miss a hit, blocking attacks felt fine though, but another thing that was annoying was the fire extinguisher, when you throw it, it's physics are way to wacky and would bounce around everywhere and when colliding with entities like the player or enemies it would just fly off, explode elsewhere and be useless. just the player walking over physics objects was really buggy most the time, like gmod but more extreme type of buggy.

Sneaking was pretty fun! however my main problem is with actually the flare item, i got around sneaking fine through like %90 but the few times i did try the flare to distract or maybe lure enemies away from a path it would just feel like it did nothing, the enemies never run over to it or anywhere close enough to be useful, most enemies would just ignore it completely and not move an inch, i think every time i used the flare it made me get caught because the enemies would get into an alerted state or something where they are looking for something and just ignore the flare and somehow see me when they couldn't before, flare felt really useless at its job.
Also I was able to sneak up behind an enemy and charge a full swing at them without getting noticed but I don't think there was anything extra to doing that, i think it could be cool to have maybe some extra damage or maybe even outright kill an enemy by sneaking up on them.

I think lastly I think there was too much chicken scp with the level design, while i think they where well placed in the levels, more than half of the chapter was just sneak around chicken and do a thing, nothing else, no other scps which was ngl a little disappointing with just chickens. I felt a little underwhelmed with having no other scps really there or mentioned or alluded to or anything. I would have loved to be hyped up a little bit in chapter 1 for other monsters or entities but never got that feeling. was all just chickens

I liked seeing the first big chicken walk off into the level ahead and was actually a little scared about when it would jump out and attack me or something but having that big area to kill it off first thing was also really under whelming, and then going to the run sequence when i just killed one before didn't feel right and was not really tense because i just killed it really easily before and was not scared of the big chicken all. I feel like an opportunity was missed back when i was actually feeling tense about anticipating the big chicken, especially in that bathroom area with the radio, i was scared to have to fight it there and was expecting it to jump out at me at any second. the pretty slow cutscene reveal for the big chicken didn't really do it for me.

Everything else was very cool and solid stuff, I will be happily playing chapter 2.

A very charming and adorable game with some fun to be had running around as a kitty,
very well made and animations are so adorable and feels great because of it.

however this review i nearly wanted to mark as negative. there are a lot of bugs, i find myself clipping into walls, jumping is somewhat unreliable/buggy and i've been getting stuck a lot. the game is just way way too short to the point where idk if the price tag is worth it. the core of the game is great! but god is there nothing to really do in this game, the playable area is so short i don't get why you can even fast travel, and the little quests you do are really really boring, but i do love games like these, heck i play games where there quite literally is nothing to do but go around but you can't have that kind of fun with the insanely small play area,

this game needs to be bigger, in pretty much every way for it to really work, it feels like a demo if anything, almost no replay value at all too. this is the kind of game i would have liked when i was maybe 4-10 years old, where i could spend hours catching birds but, having a big adult brain this game just kinda has nothing for me, i can do something like knock someone over, catch a bird or any of the other things for achievements once, (achievements seem to be broken and don't track too btw) the amount of interactables need to be scaled like ten fold, these kind of games need detail but like don't get me wrong it has some detail but i can count all the ways to interact with the humans in this game on one hand, legit you can play this game for 30 minutes and see all it has to offer, maybe even less than 30. there is no other way of saying this it literally just needs to be a bigger more ambitious game.

i've been following the games development for a while before it released and i know the effort and how long it took for doubledagger to make this game but, i think this small studio just can't really realistically turn this game into anything but a demo sized experience.

My review should be marked as negative but, idk its hard, this is just what i think personally. ig if you have some kids and need a cute little game for them to play, this will do the trick.
