Note: this is a review of 343's PC port of this game, not the original game released in 2010. This was also copied and changed from another review I saw that I mostly agree with. When this game gets some patches this review will hopefully change but right now MCC has issues.

343 promised a no-compromises PC experience, and this is about as far from no compromises as you can get. The strength of the original game and the nostalgia that many players have for it has resulted in many positive reviews, but this is one of the worst feeling PC shooters out there today due to a plethora of technical and control problems. I am mostly concerned about the multiplayer, so I will list the ongoing issues in any order I see fit.

1) Input delay. This it is better than on flight three, but definitely still noticable. 343 claims that this can be alleviated by capping the frame rate at 60, but 60 fps feels terrible on a 144hz monitor, which kind of defeats the purpose.

2) High framerate is fake. If you feel like the game is running at a lower framerate than your counter says, that's because it is. Framerate above 60 is duplicated. This means if you want true 140 fps, you need to run the game at 280 fps so it'll feel right. I really hope this can be fixed but with how broken the engine is I'm not hopeful.

3) Netcode/hit reg. There is a lot of trading kills half a second after, shots not registering, etc. Although i'm sure under ideal conditions with less server load it will improve somewhat, right now it feels like I am playing on peer to peer servers with 2010 net code. Co-op is peer to peer so it is unplayable.

4) Delay on actions in game. Actions like picking up weapons and entering vehicles are delayed. This was like this on the Xbox and I guess it was acceptable with controllers but not on a keyboard.

5) CANNOT CROUCH WHILE MOVING. I am not kidding. you must be perfectly still to change stance when on keyboard, regardless of toggle or hold setting. This is kind of a bug or unintential design at least. With a controller you kinda let go to crouch or at least slow down to do so and it works. With a keyboard you can't slow down. You have two speeds stop and go so you can't slow down to crouch, this needs to be changed.

6) Lack of basic PC features. You cannot double bind actions, you cannot change push to talk keys, you cannot change text chat key. You cannot change ADS sensitivity for scoped weapons like DMR and sniper. The sensitivity can only be adjusted in 0.1 increments, even through the config file. There is no reason not to allow people to change their sensitivity more precisely to match other games.

7) Slow matchmaking. Matchmaking takes forever and you can even get timed out for being afk while waiting for people to join.

8) Terribly mixed audio. Everything sounds garbage and muffled, and I noticed in action packed scenarios the audio can even become delayed and overlap over itself.

10/10 would drink soda again

The game no longer running red shell software, so disregard the recent negative reviews.

I picked this up before hand and its well worth a go, especially during the sales
