Definitely a must-buy VR game, right up there with Alyx, H3VR, FPS shooters, etc. This is probably the only good survival game we will get until CM Games makes the sequel. This is the type of game that also benefits from its modding community, although without proper tools it is a bit slim. I played the game to D E A T H, took about 60hrs before I got 'tired' of it and took a break. Came back and even on the hardest difficulties, it was a bit tiresome in the early areas. The looting can be memorized and farmed to a degree but it takes a lot of time and absolutely no social life is allowed.

The thing that brought me back though were the mods, specifically the STALKER mod. There are others that can be good for the less hardcore players like weighted enemy spawns and random loot, but for me, a bird who needs a real challenge, that mod breathed all new life into the game. Without it, 60hrs of content for $30 is about 50 cents an hour spanning over the course of months. That blows many modern games out of the water, and since I usually get tired of something fast, its probably much longer for the majority. So far I have 124hrs, and don't see myself getting bored soon.....nor have I even really beaten the game or even visited Castle once, so there is still content to be seen. That in itself is a testament to the game because I found all those hours of enjoyment in the first 3 areas, if any game is considered to have maximum replay value, it is this one by a long shot.

$30 is a steal, but if you're broke like I am and get it on sale, you can always get the supporter pack some time. I never usually bought those kinds of packs unless it had a skin I wanted, but despite not really seeing myself using it, I will probably get that too just to help fund the sequel. I'm also taking the time to write out a thought out review that will probably not be seen just to help the game in a minuscule aspect, and I'm not even upset. <3

Game is fun, deceptively unfinished and is not worth its current price.

Mechanics are just like the original subway scene, feels like a resident evil or Lies Beneath and the game is fun, the problem lies in the campaign. I am fine with a short and sweet game, but this game was supposed to be so much more and its very obvious it was cut short. This whole experience seems like a tech demo or a teaser for a full-length game. I spent all of my time looking for bonuses, admiring stuff, taking it slow and seriously on Hard mode, and i finished it in 3 hours. It feels like a 6 chapter game yet what we got was chapter 1...

I had such high hopes, and I know the team is small, but this is unacceptable. At least be honest about what this is, Chapter 1 out of ???, this game was the equivalent of going on a date, hitting it off and having fun, then after you drop your date off they say they're married and never wants to see you again.

The game is quite good, it deserves a fair amount of criticism but not blatant hate and full disregard. For the average player who likes customizing street racers, violently ramming other racers/cops off the road into traffic, fast and exciting races, etc. This game is worth it, especially on sale. Granted, I waited until it was 40% off to buy it but that was because I don't religiously play racing games, though if it were launch week and I paid full price, i would be very happy with my purchase.

The cartoon effects are fine, I like the wings when jumping but i only use the first effect in the list, a simple red one, the extravagant effects are too much for me but i don't really notice them all too much. They do make the car feel faster and the game more exciting though, I must admit that.

The game's focus on being woke and trendy does get annoying, the fact that the street art collectibles consist of like 90% black people makes me think whoever came up with that idea is a race-focused white person or an old CEO type trying to pander. Having spent many years enjoying local street art, I can attest that rarely do i see murals of two black babies fighting over a gold chain, or a high res old black man who looks grumpy, its quite racist and full of negative stereotypes imo but ehh, its to be expected.

Car customization is phenomenal, while some cars have less parts and you can't edit pointless things like a stereo system in NFS: U2, I still quite enjoy making a sexy 370z with a nice metallic eagle wrap. They added a lot more shapes and designs to the paint shop and while they aren't as deep as Forza, you can still easily make very cool cars and designs. Street racers usually have simpler wraps, the ability to make HD photorealistic anime isn't really needed in a game like this. Compare the paint shop to past games and it is a welcome addition, you can make the perfect car relatively easily without needing to find one that someone else made.

Handling and other physics are fine, I'm not a sweat lord who plays racing games every waking moment so to me, it is perfectly acceptable. Tuning works well though I must admit it is a bit complicated to learn if you know nothing about cars or past NFS games. Trying to get your car to accelerate faster while keeping your car class low is harder than you think, and there arent detailed stats that show what some parts do like brakes and the different turbos, but oh well.

I played and loved Heat for about 30 or so hours, beat the game, made my dream cars and got tired of it. Without the progression and the short story Heat had, I lost interest despite it being a very good game (I also got it for $3 so that mightve contributed). In Unbound, at the 30 hour mark I almost got through the campaign but I enjoyed taking my time, making my cars and grinding for things i didn't need which made some of the races difficult as i couldnt afford a usable S+ car...so i had to restart...heh...but having started over I can gladly say I'm still having lots of funs. 50 or so hours in and I still look forward to playing the game. I know online is a bit meh at the moment so hopefully it gets better, but for a single player only experience I easily got my $40 worth. I wish they allowed an easier way to restart the story though, having to delete and backup save files is annoying.

Overall, the game is fun. Its no Underground 3, but as a bird who loved that game to death, I can almost look at this game as a spinoff to the Underground series, like an Underground 2: Episode 1 sort of deal. They took pretty much everything in Heat and improved it, the game isn't perfect but no game really is. I quite enjoy it and if you get it on sale, I'm sure you will too, but even paying full price it is a decent purchase. ^v^

Game is just fine, the problems people are whining about are a bit overplayed.

Bad:

Slight bugs that will be fixed easily,

Lack of direction which makes progression confusing

6-ish hour campaign (which was fun but an 8-10 hour campaign would be better)

Slightly clunky shotgun and rifle handling - melee combat is too but that might just be a Marrow issue

Moon level

Good:

Physics are just as good as Boneworks

Lore is deep, especially if you know about the backstory regarding the void, Dead FM, duck season, cryptids, etc.

Arena mode and other side activites are very fun and replayable

Avatars are wonderful (Except the cat) and fit very well in the game

map design is much more detailed and engaging than Bonework's 'Tech Demo'-esque maps.

new enemies are quite fun, omni projectors are as annoying as they always were and skeletons are a dream to defeat as the Heavy

Pistol gunplay seems more refined and much improved over Boneworks

Potential for mods means this will be close to a VR Gmod

Overall, worth $40 on day one, worth $80 on day 30 once mods come out. Story is decent if you pay attention and read stuff, melee combat and two handed weapons need work along with some grabbing and controller issues some people have. A few hints here and there to show where to go in the story wouldn't hurt, and hopefully the map creation SDK is simple enough to use so everyone can make maps, maybe even a few campaigns.

Arena mode is probably where the most replayability lies, next to parkour and the other modes. new maps for these modes will go a long way and be easier than making extra story content, though perhaps modders can do such a task.

Not for the faint of heart, or hater of dongs. Had it since Zombies were in Legacy, which makes me about as OG as they come. ^~^
