Worse than CK2. Maybe it'll be alright in a couple more years.

While this DLC is now "fine" (although very superfluous to the overall experience) when on sale, never forget the disaster of this launch. Read through some of the old reviews that list the issues with the DLC and you will be amazed. How Paradox ever green-lit this DLC in the state it was in I will never understand.

Game stability is solid, only ran into a game breaking bug once. The ending is extremely rushed and poorly thought-out. Prior to the end the game was around an 8 or 8.5/10. I very much enjoyed most of the game (sans some very on-the-nose modern day politics), but the ending just ruined it. Practically a 6/10 for the awful blue balls of an ending. Tons of build-up for an end battle that only lasts a single turn and is no where near as in-depth as WL2's.

Also, imagine not including a NG+. Such a basic feature that was even present in WL2.

Otherwise, the UI is a bit clunky and the game is always real-time (even in menus) which can lead to issues trying to find items before someone dies or bleeds out. The sorting and system in WL2 is honestly more refined in this regard.

Fantastic game. The mods alone make it worth picking up for endless fun.

I have more hours in the console version. This wears the cartoon-y skin of previous Fallout games, without the charm or mechanics that made FNV and F3 iconic for their time. Decisions have virtually been stripped of all meaning. The influx of positive reviews after Fallout 76 is quite funny considering this game was the stepping off point for that disaster of a 'Fallout' game. It was the only natural progression after Bethesda decided to remove everything actually meaningful from the series.

This topic has been discussed at length by everyone else already, so I'm just gonna leave it at this: Buy it for the mods, not the base game content--and only at a steep discount with all the DLC included.

Not recommending because the base game is so trash it made me not want to touch a Fallout game for over 3 years after release.

A great game that is severely underrated. Plagued by some unintuitive PC controls and terrible driving mechanics, underneath it all is a very enjoyable and unique story. It's a shame that a sequel was never made. The developer ended up closing down, after already having had to let go 120 developers from Activision cancelling the game (before Square Enix ended up buying the rights for the game). That's probably the worst part about picking up the game--the fact that a sequel was never made...But all the potential is right there smacking you in the face.

Honestly, for $2 you can get the definitive edition with all the DLC. That's more than a great deal and well worth the entry price.

Very little actual content here. The only interesting additions are expelling minorities and flag ships. Both of which are underwhelming mechanics (to say the least). There are practically no downsides to expelling said minorities (other than the sunk diplo point cost), and they basically add free dev to new world provinces. I would have expected the 'minorities' (often-times far larger than your culture...looking at you Portugal...) to put up some resistance to this, but it seems they are perfectly content being shipped off to the new world.

Flag ships are...well...flag ships? They don't really do much. They are outrageously expensive and really only serve the vanity of obstensibly rich nations to flaunt their vast wealth...and even then you'd be much better off just buying more boats altogether.

Honestly, this DLC isn't worth the asking price at all. Hell, it ain't even worth $5. This is some bare-bones content just thrown out there to make a quick buck. I'd steer clear of this if you don't play many colonization games, as that's pretty much the *only* reason to even consider getting this. Even then, you'd have to be like a solo Spain/Portugal player to get enjoyment out of this.

TL;DR: Stay away. Not worth the asking price, or even half that.

Finally, a true return to form for Paradox DLCs and Expansions. An absolutely great addition to the game, and is well worth the money. That's something that I haven't felt in years from PDX DLCs.

However, I do hope this is the final DLC they make, as I think it is about time to retire the title and move on. This would be a great finale for the game, and finally put to rest the game that was my first foray into GSGs. Almost 7 years old at this point (which I can barely believe), and the wear is starting to show.

Anyways, highly recommend this DLC for any long-time players who are looking for just that little bit more entertainment out of one of the best GSGs ever made.

Fun game and a good time waster. Does get stale after a while, but mods help with that. If you have an interest in Tycoon/Simulation games at all I'd definitely recommend picking it up.

Finally, an expansion worth having. Should have come a lot sooner, and a lot of the features should have been in the game from the beginning, but HoI4 is finally starting to get back some of the features it lost from HoI2/3. Definitely a must have DLC.
