Hi-Fi Rush: The Game That Brought back Childhood Memories
VERY LONG REVIEW AHEAD, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
Can anyone explain to me as to why we should even put up with Xbox anymore? Lets face the facts:
  1. Hi-Fi Rush is getting shelved since Xbox shut down Tango with no way of John Johanas to get the IP back or even work on a sequel under a different studio name.
  2. Microsoft is doubling down on AAA games. All smaller titles that are just pc or niche are going to "flop" in the eyes of Microsoft.
  3. COD will be Xbox's main selling point. the gamepass will have another price hike to compensate for the ABK acquisition, just giving us this half baked game with a $20 battle pass and skins that have either celebrities or tv show characters with the same gameplay mechanics.
I ask again, why should we even put up with this nonsense? Shouldnt it be us as the consumers to steer Xbox/Microsoft into what made it great in the first place?

Hi-Fi Rush was a spectacle when it came out, and as someone who has bought it for the fifth time, the story has never gotten old. Playing it first on my Xbox, I thought, "Oh crap, do we have a new franchise? Xbox is back!", but now, all I can think about is how corpo capitalism crushes any creative freedom. All profits, no passion. Games like Call of Duty will remain around due to the sheer incompetency of your average gamer with a wallet. This game, as small as it is, shows that passion can win the hearts of many.

Hi-Fi Rush as a whole is a masterpiece of love with a unique gameplay elements, memorable story, and loveable cast of colorful characters. You can earn brand new combos, upgrades, and cosmetics in-game without having to shill out your wallet needlessly. With the voice talents of Final Fantasy 15's Robbie Daymond and the voice actor who has no limits in terms of range, Roger Craig Smith, along with many others, this cast will make you cheer for them in every scene that they're in.

This game, shadow dropped last year with ABSOLUTELY no marketing won many awards including a BAFTA and from many people who I have talked to, even they thought that Hi-Fi Rush was a second place GOTY. But awards, love, and praise doesn't mean anything when coming up against suits and their love for profit. Looking back recently, I continue to ask myself, "What happened to gaming? Where's the soul?"

This game made me feel like a kid again, turning on my PS2 and playing Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, even Jak And Daxter, and not having a care in the world but enjoying an amazing game rather than a FPS with sweats and cheaters. This game here, folks, had real passion behind it. No battle pass, no multiplayer, and especially no microtransactions for in-game currency. Just knowing that it lacks all of this made me think about all of the games I have ever purchased for the past 10-13 years. For Honor, Call of Duty titles, Halo, Gears of War 4 & 5, Grand Theft Auto, even Destiny. Big name titles with absolutely no compassion, just people looking to make another dollar in their pockets by selling games with numerous bugs, cut content, or in Destiny's case, remove content that you have already paid for.

Im not asking you to think of my as some Pony or nintendo fanboy; I love all games on all platforms, but the shutting down of Tango Gameworks, Microsoft's best studio of 2023, makes me feel disgusted at myself for forgetting that Xbox is still under Microsoft, a tech company, not a game company and in my honest opinion, the only way to properly place Phil Spencer, Matt Booty, and Sarah Bond back into a good light with fans would be to sell the Hi-Fi Rush and Evil Within IPs to John Johanas (wishful thinking, I know).

I urge you, whoever reads this long, exasperating review, to give this game a try from start to finish with a wonderfully witty story filled with phenomenal world building and fantastic cast. This game has changed the way I look at games as a whole, asking myself if they truly bring the passion that we were promised. If theres one thing that I know for certain, Hi-Fi Rush will go down in gaming history.

Also, ♥♥♥♥. You. Microsoft.
