Early Access Review
Whereas Satisfactory looked at Factorio, wondered what it would be like in 3D, and innovated on that idea, FOUNDRY instead takes that inspiration much more literally.

FOUNDRY, in its current state, is very much Factorio mostly copy-pasted into 3D, complete with all of its benefits and trappings, but lacking the massive amount of polish and UX that Factorio had worked towards over its decade of existence (which is understandable. Rome wasn't built in a day, etc). Let me list these bullet points, and those familiar with Factorio should be deeply familiar with all of them:
  • 1-building-does-it-all design (your "assembler" can make 90% of everything in the game)
  • Buildings can be loaded and unloaded from any direction
  • Science packs that are just different colors
  • Research takes certain science packs for certain amount of time per pack
  • An inventory filled with 10 different ways of building, loading, and unloading conveyor belts
  • A Background Crafting system that will build your prerequisite items for you
  • Everything is a square building

Factorio did these things, and thus so did FOUNDRY. This doesn't mean FOUNDRY is bad, as it's hard to say Factorio in a different skin and no combat is bad. What FOUNDRY adds is a 3rd dimension, allowing you to layer buildings and conveyors on top of each other or hide minerals in the ground until you find a way to detect them (because you can dig!), but it has yet to take proper advantage of this aspect in its design.
  • Your buildings may be 4+ blocks tall, but they all only load and deposit materials on the first floor.
  • Your buildings are all big cubes and blocks. No fancy shapes like an upside down L, where minerals need to be input from the top and output at the bottom (or vice versa)
  • All your minerals are just chunks in the ground. They're not scattered or a mix of mineral and dirt or anything, despite not having static miners (you instead have drones that can go a certain distance away)

I greatly look forward to playing this game in the (far?) future, hoping that it grows beyond the game it's cloning its mechanics from (or at least that it starts cloning factory mechanics from more than that 1 game). I look forward to the improvement of item placement (the grid can be funky to work with when you're behind objects or are looking up rather than down). I look forward to a dang Jetpack because I could really use a much better top-down look that this game doesn't really provide right now beyond building a tower and a ladder. I look forward to blueprints (especially since the building is still in the 'feature-complete-but-still-pretty-clunky-and-awkward-stage')

But right now? If you're desperate for a Factorio fix while waiting for Factorio to come out with its new expansion soon, then this might scratch your itch a little bit. If you're looking for something even a little different than early factory building in Factorio in peaceful mode, you won't find it here.

Early Access Review
The game is pretty, it's fun, and has issues in its early access state. In this game's case, early access only means "we'll have lots more content down the road!" Tather than releasing in a feeling-unfinished state, this game already feels very polished, and we may only be waiting for more content now :)

A cute little game where you mix bullet hell with adventure and some Legend of Zelda.

The normal mode can be pretty easy for a while. If you want a challenge from the start, Advanced mode will be there for you, but I still enjoyed the game plenty on the normal difficulty.

You really don't know what dedication it takes to be a truck driver until you play this game

A super charming, cute, and humorous souls-like game!

The physics may be clunky, and sometimes the mechanics can be glitchy (this review is soon after release, so they're still working hard to fix all the issues!), but it's still a fun game and a great time. I'd love to play more. Perhaps a New Game + in the future?

This game is a very nice change of pace compared to the others. It doesn't need to take itself too seriously and the few puzzles you get to do were fun! It does have a few wonky physics interactions, but I can look past that.

A short and sweet adventure. The opening cutscene really paints a contrasting view of what you're getting into. It fits way more with the rest of the series.

Other reviewers have already mentioned it: The gameplay is FTL x Slay the Spire x Into the Breach.

The gameplay will leave you thinking, but I had no problems beating the the game on hard, though it still took about 1 to 1.5 hours each run, with me thinking through how to get through each turn.

If you choose to go for getting all the memories, you'll become very familiar with all of the encounters. However, what will keep you coming back regardless is the banter of the crew. It's very charming, and I always wanted to see more of them speaking with each other. The narrative in this game, in my opinion, seems to be the best of all three games I said it was a mix of, by far, and I love it for it.

A mostly-platformer metroidvania with simple combat. As you play, the primary powers you unlock are movement based, and you can quite thoroughly explore the movement mechanics thoughout the game, especially if you are collecting all of the outfits.

Don't look for a narrative here, though. There's some flavor text, but I don't think it amounts to anything. Play for the gameplay, the exploration, and the movement. And for $6, it's hard to say no.

PS. Thanks, developers, for giving me pants in the options menu

Fun game with an enjoyable story and good characters that follows Portal 2's narrative structure pretty closely. Its puzzles can be pretty devious, especially compared to original Portal 2's. I also really like how they executed the final level. It feels like a better puzzle boss than what Portal and Portal2 did

Fun little Vampire Survivor game. It could use some QoL stuff, primarily making UI bigger for hi-res displays, but it's hard to go wrong with this for $5
