Great

Pretty good evolution of Chivalry genre of 1st person medieval online battle games (it does have tps mode too though).
It runs very well optimized even though it says 16 gb of ram and I only have 12 on almost all settings on ultra. I have 980 gtx too.

Nice bodily damage and dismemberment. Nice combat. Overall a great upgrade from Chivalry. No Chivalry issues like Ballerinas. Pretty graphics. Everything they promised, they delivered. Price is ok too.

While I am not surprised because the general formula is the same, this game is the AAA quality to me.

Great fun game, if you liked Prey 2016 or Persistence PS VR, try it. Mod it a little if you want to get better visuals, there are tutorial in youtube. And if do not like constant respawn there is mod for that too.

Brutal Half-Life review
Here I wasn't planning on beating this game again, since I have played Caged, Paranoia and USS Darkstar recently, also beat Black Mesa not so long ago too when it was a mod, then loaded it as a standalone game on steam just to check how much it has improved. Beat Half-life Source when I wanted to remember the original game with its original gameplay. Then Blue Shift and Opposing force as I never beat them as a kid.
BUT, then I saw Brutal Half-Life modification in open beta 2 and decided to give it a go just to try out gameplay. Well, what turned out to be a try out for a couple of hours, made me beat the game once more. And I have to say it was soo darn good I just had to come back to playing this gib brutal fest even though I know the game so well and it didn't feel like enough time has passed to replay it again. But I just couldn't stop.

Gameplay has changed so drastically, it felt so modern and fast paced. More fast paced than Black Mesa. I could say this Brutal mod makes this game rival Black Mesa because it feels like a remake too. You can shoot off any body part off any enemy, make them mash potatoes etc. You can dual wield all pistols, there is deagle from opposing force, you can aim down sights, dual wield mp5s, there are even quake and doom guns but those aren't available in normal game unless you cheat but the game also has a few test levels of Quake and Doom instead of Hazard Course. There is lots of blood. And crowbar pales in comparison to ninja fists and kick of Gordon Freeman.

Hell kick is so useful it was one of my favorite things to do. It is fast, it is very strong and can blow enemies into pieces. Besides you don't have to switch to crowbar when you want to melee with a weapon in hand. I often killed headcrabs with 2 kicks on normal. At the start of the game I went full melee against hounds using fists and legs. It was very fast and effective and cool too. So yeah, this playthrough I didn't use crowbar at all. Unless it is remade cooler than fists and legs then it is not needed. In the final parts of the game after Freeman was abducted, I didn't even pick it up. Also, kick and fists can destroy most anything in terms of interior. And I found it really useful kicking tanks down to 1 health so I could 1 shot them from glock.

The mod has a couple of issues like sometimes weird hitboxes but those were rare and I just needed to learn how to shoot new guns. The worst hitboxes were on barnacles (hanging monsters who try to reel you in) so I just ended up avoiding them instead of wasting ammo into nothing. It also crashes sometimes, especially if you reload during a map change. And sometimes if you save and load while reloading your gun will be stuck until you change it, which is like gun jamming so just avoid doing that or it will be bad for you if you are surrounded.

But honestly these issues are so small, they didn't stop me from beating this game with this mod. It was a breathe. Just make sure to quick save often and you will be golden if it crashes. Saves do not disappear and work even if it crashes during a save. So even when the game crashes on me (which was rare) it only took me 10 seconds to get back in. And as I have played this game before I was like a malestorm running through it. So don't just stand there, get Brutal Half-Life ffs!
