I used an action to take off my boots, throw them at an enemy outside of melee range, then put them back on after the fight.
The player freedom is daunting. This game exceeds any expectations I went in with and has been an incredible experience so far.

Highly recommend.

After a year of development I've returned to update my review. The game, while still unoptimized in several places, is great fun and is starting to show signs of growth, similar to Vermintide 2.
I have faith in it again.

I couldn't look at anyone named Elizabeth the same way again.
Picked up this game after being an enormous fan of the first two.
Played through it, learned a lot.
Decided to forgive anyone else who was named Elizabeth.
Still hate my ex, though.

10/10 would reconsider life choices again.

For a game that has stayed my favorite game of all time for two years, and held itself at the top-5 list since, it's hard to write a review capable of describing the sheer joy I felt playing through it. Since there are so many improvements from the first game, I'll just point out some of the things I noticed.

-Improved story, gameplay, characters, diolouge, levels, and everything else you can think of since the first Portal game came out.

-Better graphics, puzzles, and movement compared to the first one.

-An average of 5-6 hours longer than the first game (based on how I played through it)

Overall, this game is amazing and definitely worth playing. If you have already, I salute you for your good choice in games; if you haven't, change that.

Despite the bad reviews and harsh scores given to this game, I found it quite enjoyable and worthy of a recommendation. Although the gameplay was a bit slower than most zombie-slasher games, the storyline was hard to catch onto at first, and the combat system wasn't easy to tackle at first, Dead Island is worth the time in the long run.

Singleplayer can become addicting and the co-op option only adds to the fun of being on a zombie-filled island with the soul intention of hacking and slashing your way through zombies.

To bring a short recommendation to a quick closing, I'd highly recommend this to a friend if he / she is interested in zombie games and has the time and patience to let it grow on them.
