This game used to be a game that I would look forward to playing day after day, week after week. Friend groups were built around this game in its prime. Community servers were plentiful and varied with healthy communities. The base game being able to be enjoyed regardless of circumstances with little to worry in terms of cheating or exploitation.

Now, Team Fortress 2 is a husk of what it once was. A neglected, deteriorating, rotting corpse of what was THE video game to play on Steam. It's astonishing to see how little attention the game is receiving in terms of even basic maintenance.

Seasonal events are boiled down to micro transactions that rely solely on the workshop. Official servers aren't a matter of "IF" you're going to play with or against a cheater. It's a matter of "when". Weapon and class balancing having become so stale its grown a thick layer of mold. Community servers are shutting down every day as this game's once loyal and vast player base has gotten to the acceptance stage of grief. I cannot even begin to imagine how a new player can begin to learn the ropes of this game with the amount of problems it has.

It's truly disheartening to see what is/was one of Valve's poster children games get completely abandoned by all but a single employee. I loved Team Fortress 2. I think about it all the time and all the memories I've had inside of it.

I absolutely do not recommend investing a single minute or dollar into this game in its current state.
