When I played through the game and finished it. I cried.

Not a lot of games can do that to me.

You can put into words how this game makes you feel, but at the same time it's better to just not say anything and just experience everything it has to offer.

GRIS is a magical experience. Something that exemplifies the non-narrative experience. Everything is told through visuals and sound. Everything is absorbed in this surreal feeling that penetrates the eyes and ears.

Conrad Roset, the Art Lead for GRIS, is a wonderful artist and rightfully so. His mastery of color blending and geometric style has carefully crafted the hidden story within the game. Colors and shapes are wonderfully used to create elements that reflect the environment around you as you progress within the game.

The soundtrack. God the soundtrack. The Berlinist, the composer for GRIS, quickly became one of my most listened to artists on Spotify. Just listening to the music moved me into different emotions so easily. From bliss, joy, sadness, or anxiety. It was a piece of a puzzle that I was missing for a long time. Like something I would imagine listening to if I was outside just looking at nature, but I couldn't piece together what it would sound like.

The game was made in 2018 and it was sitting in my wishlist for the longest time. Until I managed to will myself to buy the game during the summer sale of 2020. The game is worth it's price, even if isn't on sale. I wish I had played this sooner. I wish I had this game in my life to help me with my past. Right now in these rough times with the world around us, the game has helped me immensely move through my grief and depression. And I'm thankful that I played the game now than later.

There was more I wanted to put into this love-letter about the game. But all I can say now is play the game. If you haven't bought it yet, I hope you do in the future. If you have bought it, please play it. Sit down and enjoy it with either a loved one or by yourself.
