This game gives me the same sense of wonder, awe, and unhealthy addiction to playing that I had when I was younger and I got my first copy of Skyrim for the Xbox 360. This game has to be my definite top 5.

I had a backlog of games I wanted to play. Emphasis on the "HAD" because I have ONLY been playing Baldur's Gate for weeks now non-stop. I have a problem and I refuse to look for a solution.

It works kinda OK on the Steam Deck. Not surprising as Baldur's Gate is considered a next-gen game and is pretty CPU intensive. I hope there'll be optimizations on that side since I can't leave my house without thinking of playing. It'll be worse when I travel away from my computer.

I should have known better that this game was made by the same schmucks who made SpaceHulk: Deathwing.
Amazing art direction and visuals. Poor gameplay, audio mixing/design, voice acting, dialogue, etc. Literally the same for every other game Streum On Studio has made. It's like they take the same dated formula and feel from E.Y.E: Divine Cybermancy and think they can implement it into their other future titles. That's not how it works.
Why is it that a majority of the Warhammer games are hit or miss on elements of their game?
Oh, it's not like devs were literally given a world rich and teeming with lore on a silver platter to work with. Noooo, not at all!

Early Access Review
Put in a tutorial for this game so at least my teammates can be competent on how the game works.

Can't touch online with a 10 foot pole because of lack of rollback. The only exception is playing with friends in private lobbies but EVEN THEN that's locked behind the requirement of having to play a couple of ranked matches which is absolute bull. The only way I enjoy this game when it comes to fighting another person is to go to locals, and not a lot of players have that luxury!

You guys had a major update recently that added an overdrive mechanic in the game and the last character to release for the game was Vira in December 2021! The game isn't dead! The game is literally in the main line-up at EVO 2022! The game is picking up major traction and with covid restrictions lifting we're reviving this game local by local. Now it's up to the devs to give it more life by making it's online scene thrive.

So please Cygames, ArcSys, whoever. Please for the love of Belial himself, add ROLLBACK NETCODE!

EDIT: LET'S GOOOOO GRANBLUE FANTASY VERSUS RISING IS ANNOUNCED CYGAMES HEARD US

No private matchmaking? I wanna have fun with just my friends sometime. Party sizes of just 3 yet the games go up to 32 players. Ok.

I work in a corporate office/tech startup company and I feel very attacked by how accurate this game is to my work life. Especially the slaying Joblins in the basement part.

The game's really fun and all if you actually move around and shoot things.

Because this game has a serious issue with portal campers and people who just camp in general without portals. The grenades need to have a timer in order to flush out corners and rooms instead of it being an impact grenade that is literally only viable for closing portals, don't know if the intention was only that but I've never killed or been killed by a grenade. I have never seen someone camp in Halo, Quake, TF2, Overwatch, Titanfall, etc. as hard someone in Splitgate because in those games they would easily get punished for it. There is no punishment in Splitgate. You camp hard, rack up kills, and if you're spotted you just run away through another portal. Rinse and repeat.

Like I could literally play this game like Halo without portaling and that's a fine option. But put more emphasis on how portals can benefit a player if they know how to use them. But stray from promoting such things like camping. Yes, I know there are ways to counter portal camping but there are really bad angles that someone can place a portal at and just go to town with cheap kills. That's the issue. And some of these angles its hard to shoot through or throw a grenade at.

A great example was a time that I played oddball. Enemy team steals the ball and holes themselves in a room on a map. The room has 2 entrances and its a small space. Great for, you guessed it, melee kills. The whole enemy team hunkers down in that room with portals deployed at every angle ready to snipe anyone that approaches any of the 2 entrances. If someone makes it in, the oddball carrier just one-shots them with melee and goes back to their corner. How is that fun? The grenades can't even flush them out.

The maps are such a mixed bag. There are some maps that are fantastic for navigating around and fighting but there are some which are too big for 4v4s and too vertical with no clear walls to portal up. There are also maps that are so closed quarters that it promotes the idea of setting up a portal down a narrow hallway and just potshot camping across the map. There needs to be a definite revision and sit down on how to re-approach map design.

The weapons themselves are such a weird combination of "It feels good to kill with this" and "Am I actually shooting and damaging somebody?". What's the point of an SMG if it has such an obnoxious spread yet it doesn't kill somebody even up close fast enough? It needs more OOMPH. Experiment around with guns that can work well with portals or something rather than having a carbon copy of Halo weapons. It just feels like the approach to this game is more safe than being unique other than having just PORTALS. Which I get is the theme of the game, but it can get old real fast if people don't actually learn how to use them and get creative with them.

If you guys want a game to truly rival Halo and arena shooters you need to essentially take a hard look at the key elements that make those types of games great. Good and balanced maps, satisfying weapons that feel great to use, anti-camping, more movement, incentive to firefight, and fair trading.

At the current state I can't recommend this game but I see it's potential. It's a fantastic concept but again, a concept. The whole game just feels like an experiment. Of course, it's in Beta so maybe once it goes full release we'll see most of the things I addressed actually fixed and maybe then I can recommend it. I still enjoy the game but I'm not sure for how long I can keep playing with the same attitude I had when I first started. I can feel the fun sucked out of my friends' voices when we play a few games also. It's really disappointing.

inb4 "get good". I know you've had a few bad games yourself and you've probably have shared the same thoughts I had about the game. If not, great! But it's my opinion.
