I had once really enjoyed this game, part of me still does. But I cannot recommend a game where the company that makes it intentionally creates gaps they plan to fill in with hundreds of dollars of DLC and not only that but DLC that were once part of previous versions / iterations of the games themselves! Not only that but the complete lack of any attempt by the Paradox team to fix or find any solution to the ongoing problem concerning the Paradox launcher. (the only damn "Paradox" is the Launcher working for you on the first try let alone when you involve mods.) To end this summary of my more recent time with the game, I had really enjoyed it, when it worked, but the last 60ish hours have been more struggle with making the launcher work with no real way to fix it found by the community and no help from Paradox itself.
