In a rare instance a company can deliver captivating game play where phoned-in, cookie cutter mechanics had been the norm from previous publishers. I was not expecting much here but Way of the Hunter is an amazing experience. I have been playing on the Series X and the transition to PC has brought some much wanted fidelity to the experience. I should say I've never been a fan of hunting games. What makes it worthwhile here is the presentation. The Sniper: Elite X-Ray view when you finally track down your kill is great at showing you your ability. The story while not really needed brings purpose to an otherwise free roam experience. Now all we need is a "Way of the Angler" to scratch that fishing itch. That would be amazing.

It's rare now and days to see a traditional turn based JRPG get released and get so much negative attention. Now granted 4 hours in i'm not one to make a final judgement, but what I have played is entertaining and the tone of the narrative in the English language version has not detracted from my enjoyment. Literal translation gripes aside i feel the game was worth the money I paid and worth the time to play. Now that is just my Opinion and don't detract in any of those who feel otherwise. Jokingly I'd say that this cant be a proper callback to traditional JRPG's unless it has a bad localization. 80's and 90's RPGs were notorious.

Update 6/30/2019

So I have given it a year before I actually started playing again and what a different a years worth of updates make. Stability is much improved even though the first couple campaign missions make my video card want to take flight. It is just those first missions, then it settles down and I never have it happen again. It is still a slow game to get through but it is very well thought out and compelling. I can easily recommend this game now and any sci-fi fan will find something to love here.

Original Review 04/26/2018

Well I thought I wouldn't have to do this but I can't begin to tell you how frustrated I am about this game. I cannot recommend this game right now because the crashes are too common. If their was an autosave between turns it would have negated some of the frustration, but spending 30 minute in the 1st mission, finishing it, going through the dialog options after mission only to crash and have to redo the whole mission is a waste of time. I am sure that this game will get more stable in future patches. The gameplay, while slow to the point of exaustion is compelling but hey It's only the first mission because I can't get any further because it crashes. Good luck Battletech I'll try playing again in a couple of months after it gets some of its bugs squashed.

There is not much to say about the launch of this game that has not already been said. The platforming is very good. The boss fights are a nice challange and the EX mode does a good job of teaching you how to get better at your game. I own the PS4 and Pc version and most of my time has been on the console. Taken on its own without any thought of what game franchises came before it (Mega Man, Mega Man X, Azure Striker Gunvolt) It can be enjoyed for its platforming and character design.

But Might No. 9 wasnt developed in a vacuum. This game is not in the same league as Mega Man, X, and Gunvolt. First, the unreal engine is not doing it any favors, the game looks bad. Poor renders and a sometimes choppy framerate make for a sometime stressful experience. The story is too full of itself and the english voice overs are bad. The Bosses are fun to play they are not near as cool as any mega man boss...Well maybe cooler than Wood Man.

I think this game is worth the price and it can be fun. Just enjoy it for what it is and not what you want it to be. Because I wanted it to be Mega Man Universe, especially now that Super Mario Maker shows how well that concept could grow.

The Pinball Arcade is in my opinion one of the most important pieces of game software to ever be released. To take the physical tables of classic pinball and wrap a easy to use interface that makes getting to the games you love easy. Make sure to go to the option menu and read the instuctions on how to complete the Table / Wizard goals.

Well worth the price, and can't wait to see whats on the horizon.
