This is one of my favorite games of all time. It plays like an amazing D&D campaign.

This game is of absolutely terrible quality both in voice acting, graphics, and playability. I bought this on the Summer Sale for $25, and it isn't even worth that price. It feels like a game from the early 2000s, but with worse voice acting. I don't recommend this game for anyone.

This "game" is just an environment. There was one scare that was kind of cool, but other than that it's just a creepy cabin-in-the-woods setting at night.

Worth playing if you have like 5+ friends. It's pretty boring otherwise. It looks like it's pretty in-depth though, but not worth playing for more than maybe an hour's entertainment.

Fantastic game full of challenging intrigue and warfare. It keeps bringing me back year after year. Beware: very unforgiving.

I'm a huge softy for games like this, but this one just didn't cut it... It was a somewhat touching story, but way too drawn out with irritating and repetitious levels. The story itself was predictable, which is fine, but it never capitalized. It was a gigantic disappointment. As for length, the developers themselves said they designed it for 90-minute playthroughs. While they said they tried to have replayability, I certainly don't see any opportunity for it. I hate to downvote games, but this was just not worth the price even on sale.

Early Access Review
As it is now, this game is not ready yet to be sold at its asking price. I'm really excited to see where it ends up, as it has a ton of potential and looks like it'll be beautiful (the sunbursting on the waves, for example, is fantastic!). But the lighting is rough, especially at night when still near a fire, and this makes it impossible to do much of anything at night. The gameplay mechanics in general are also very clunky, where you have you be holding certain things in your hand to do stuff but it doesn't always work. For instance, using firewood on a camp to relight it doesn't work, and there's nothing that says you have to rebuild a camp. Stuff doesn't disappear when it would seem like it should (and you can just walk right through it). The camera is also very messy. Buy it on sale and sit on it, and I'm sure this will turn into a gem!

For a Day 1 Release of an indie game that was always more of an engine project than a game to begin with, this game is fantastic! There are still some issues (even including a blue screen, but mostly just some wildlife pathfinding glitches). However, the universe is absolutely breathtaking, and the time just flies by. Even when the game crashed (just the one time), I actually enjoyed redoing the 5ish minutes I lost since my last save. Normally I'd be ragequitting and coming back after a few months to wait for it to get its act together. But, my point is, the game is -just that enjoyable that it doesn't matter-. It's also quite challenging! You really have to focus on survival in a universe where even fauna might want to kill you. But, you can befriend wildlife too! My only "issue" is it's so lonely! 9/10 after first impression.

Edit: After playing a few more hours, I had another blue screen and a crash to desktop. It's such a shame, because this game really is cool. I'm really excited for the upcoming patches that will hopefully fix all this, but until then, I can't recommend this game.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Edit after Atlas Rises: So far I've only managed to play a couple hours, but I'm immediately impressed by the much more vibrant and full worlds. It's been made even more beautiful, and it's excited me once more. I had to flip my recommendation, and I'll write up better thoughts as I play.

One of the most emtional games I've played in a long time, and with an amazing soundtrack that just adds to the emotions.
