TL;DR: 6.5/10 Fun horror game with great graphics, interesting mechanics, but in my opinion is ultimately ruined by some cheap jump scares.

Welcome to Kowloon constantly has this very gritty atmosphere with graphics that will constantly keep you immersed, during my play through I synced my lights and temperature to the game and was very surprised to see that my setup mimicked the games lighting as well as what I'd expect the winds, areas, rooms, and general atmosphere to be. To say that the developers, graphically, have made a stunning game is an understatement. Add this into N4bA's flashlight mechanic that seems similar to another project they had done, Departed's, gun mechanics and it easily has one of the best flashlight sections in a game I've played by far. During my play through I did play the game on my stream and my number one complaint that it seems is inescapable and in my opinion did ruin a lot of the game was simply how cheap some of the scares were and how in some cases, you could see what I could only describe as a slight shift in the level from a model perspective when you were walking to where a jump scare may happen, in most of these cases I was able to say nearly exactly when a scare would happen or when a change in pace would happen. In my opinion and preference, jump scares, particularly ones either followed up or having camera cuts, loud noises, or flashing lights are some of the weaker, yet, effective scares when they aren't expected. To that point, the scariest thing in this game that did unease me was the general atmosphere but after about 15 minutes of it you do quickly get used to it and that fear does quickly dissipate and the game does feel more like a walking simulator.

This all said, I will add in that I am nearly impossible to scare and have been very numb to horror elements for several years and did come into this with fairly high expectations after seeing it rated fairly high on the steam ratings. So for those of you that do get frightful and that can overlook cheaper jump scare based horror, you may thoroughly enjoy this experience however, personally it was not for me. In the future if more of these types of games are done, I'd definitely like to see what more of the subtle scares that can be done would be, perhaps cans rolling from shelves, subtle foreshadowing to show that the player is hallucinating by incorporating elements from "reality" such as rebar and broken concrete slabs littering places they otherwise shouldn't be, visions when being hit by the gas flowing through the pipes that show more into the life of Kowloon or what your character is really walking through. Just tinier things that keep the player on edge and guessing to what is real, fake, and what may pose a threat to them as opposed to opening doors to an entity running at you with a high pitched noise or picking up a photo to have a loud noise and a camera cut happening.

A great time to be a gamer
The keyboard controls to this game just feel natural all but inverted mouse clicks but its easy to fix with a simple key change Long story short this is what game dev's should strive for

10/10 For Survival Genre
There are some bugs but no major ones and this game is as close as you may get to a realistic feeling Post-Alpalca-Lyps game because no matter what you are never same In Day Z

Imagine GTA but free

A great mod now on Steam. It horrified my friends on Multiplayer (which I was only able to use through Hamachi) and multiple youtubers have played this. I would play this again anytime. 9.5/10

Like CoD but with hats

Never knew a sandbox could be as fun as this or minecraft. With the constantly updating workshop and over 25 gamemodes you can never really be bored in garrys mod.
