If you are having issues with Chivalry 2 giving a black screen on start, try the following:

1. open an internet browser window or any other windowed/non-fullscreen app or folder
2. start chivalry
3. keep clicking over and over anywhere inside the window of whichever app/browser/folder you've opened until Chivalry reaches the main menu

This is not guaranteed to work, and was only a fix for when I played it within windows 7 a year ago. That being said, it might be worth a try.
