With the changes made to the Terms of Service to require a game played on one platform to have to cowtow to another console platform that is known for its shoddy security, overly strict moderation, and lack of interest or use by a majority of PC players already upon the steam platform, I cannot in good conscience recommend HD2 at this time.

No hate to Arrowhead, the developer, all of it to Sony (Though Arrowhead you need to fire that community manager out of a cannon, that dude sucks).

Helldivers 2 is a great game, and an example of what the industry needs. A good game that does not require you to leap through loops to chase the most absurd of criteria just to get to the meat of the game.

It is a fun game to play together with friends. To succeed at a goal and work together for the sake of fun and cooperation.

It has one of the most customer friendly monetary systems implemented in any game to come out in the last decade if not longer. And is a solidly designed, funny, blast of a game.

But with these changes, the things that made this game so worthwhile to support with money and enthusiasm is out the window. We had something good, but the suits at Sony ruined it.

I'll be eager to support once more if they remove that stupid TOS change, or if Arrowhead ever breaks away from Sony partnership in future. But as it stands, I recommend against this game, and will be requesting a refund.

This is truly one of those games that makes you feel like you're a kid again. With a drop-dead gorgeous artstyle that drips with storybook charm and a soundtrack that keeps you rocking your head all the while as you go through some genuinely fantastic puzzle design, this game is one that I will find myself returning to in the future just to enjoy its beautiful little world and wonderful atmosphere.

Worth every penny. Worth every moment. I will be keeping an eye on this team in the future. This is an absolute hidden gem.

Decent experience. More of a walking sim than a game. Gets past that with the use of puzzle elements to explore. And is incredibly generous with items.

Not hard, not a difficult time, but not the scariest experience out there. Music and voice acting is great. Graphical design is awesome. Love that direction. More cozy than creepy at times.

But was more of a walking sim at the end. I'm interested to see where this dev team goes. Get it on sale when you got an hour or two to kill.

This is a good game that is just on the very cusp of being an all time great game- if not a classic.

It's rare to see games coming out that manage to evoke the feelings of older experimental and rare properties like Earthbound, but Pixpil have managed to touch on that vein and strike it very hard with the world of Eastward.

Gameplay was fun and offered a decent amount of challenge- Evoking the control schemes of Top-Down Zelda titles mixed with a bit of Secret Of Mana's combat as well. Involving the use of weapons and abilities to dispatch the variety of enemies and puzzles that are littered throughout. Weapons always felt good, even if some were more useful than others. I found myself defaulting to the Frying Pan and Bang-Bang Gun when I played- As those two covered most of what I needed when playing. I never felt particularly overwhelmed by the combat challenges. Bosses were fun and cleverly designed- And you are never long without options to fight whatever comes at you. With John's Arsenal and Sam's psionic abilities. While Sam did get reduced to being more of a stun option and puzzle solver- Her abilities did come into play when they were needed.

The story has strong beats. It starts off like RPGs of old, with the discovery of something of the wider world and the exile from the home village- Eastward starts off strong with a intoduction to the world that John and Sam live in. You see a myriad of beautiful spritework and music- Despite how dreary and down Potcrock Isle is meant to be. As the story picks up, the game's tone becomes apparent. A funny adventure that is willing to make some dire turns. And it's a strong start that continues until the half-way point.

The story begins to wane after this. Becoming a series of distractions that, while fun and do engage the player, aren't going to feel as connected or as important. Some parts left me rather frustrated, especially when the story does pick right back up, only to hit a very hard wall. And this repeats from the half-way point on. Sadly leaving the story with a number of loose ends and potential that was not quite reached.

Despite all of this- I could not help but to see the good of this game. It's flawed. It's repetative- Very obviously padding itself out by making the player re-visit places they've been again and again and reusing resources a lot. But it's a game with heart. It's got that spark that you have to stop and appreciate.

I want to see more from this world. The ending left me in a place similar to Mother 3's ending. But nowhere near as satisfied. And if I can't see more from the world of Eastward, then I'd love to see more from Pixpil. If this is just them getting their feet wet in the world of games- Then experiencing them at their full stride will be something remarkable.
