If you've already played the main game then you really need to play this too! This goes a lot deeper into a bit of the side story and overarcing story. Play this before moving on to Finding Paradise!

What a great game! It is a bit above my typical price point, but I bought it in a bundle pack with Dredge while there was a sale going on.

The gameplay loop is simple and enjoyable. Go diving, collect fish, and bring them back to your restaurant to sell and make money. You will eventually unlock a "collection" to fill in...but be aware that different ways of catching fish will result in better quality fish! Stab them up with your Dive Knife, and it'll only be one star. Catch them with your harpoon and it is two stars. But manage to tranquilize them or catch them in a net-gun...that is three stars! The more stars it is, the more meat it is worth...and the more dishes you can make of it!

As you continue to hunt down fish in the different depths, you'll find a storyline revolving around a mythical sea-people and local earthquakes that are terrorizing the Blue Hole. There is no time pressure to do this quest...or any of the side quests either, really. You are free to enjoy it at your own pace. I attempted to only leave the water with the most possible fish...and ended up having to just pass time post-game in order to finish up the achievements because I tried too hard to squeeze the most out of each day.

I was worried that my breath-meter would be it a stressful experience...I typically don't like feeling pressured or rushed. But it drains VERY slowly, is upgradable, and also acts as your health. Plus not only are there plentiful "full recharges" available underwater, but also items you can grab that you can carry with you that will help recharge the meter if a shark gets one too many grabs out of you.

You will be able to find a lot of mini-games as well, from raising a digital pet to doing cook-offs. Eventually, you unlock a fish-farm where you can store fish eggs that will catch. Get two of the same species, and they will start breeding...potentially giving you a good source of fish from areas you are no longer interested in exploring.

There are some boss fights here, but fortunately if you lose in one of the boss fights it gives you the option to just restart. Die in normal diving, and the game just starts you back above water. You lose MOST of your items that you found while diving (all your crafted gear and upgrades stay), but the game does allow you to keep ONE thing of your choice just in case you REALLY were pumped about finally getting the last of something you were searching for.

There are two DLCs currently, and both are free. I got a kick out of the Dredge DLC having played that right before this...but the Godzilla DLC was cute too.

All in all, I got plenty of time out of this game. Even if I had paid full price for it, it would've been a great value. I would highly suggest anyone interested to give it a try! If you are cheap like me, don't forget to account for the free DLC as well!

I enjoyed this one! Managed to get all the achievements in the base game in about 20 hours or so. Loved the lore and the atmosphere.

You are a fisherman. You crashed your ship in this area, but they've set you up with a new one! Go out there and get some fish by playing (easy) mini-games. Sell them, buy better gear, rinse and repeat. Different fish need different gear to get...so you may have fun balancing out which poles you bring with you. One thing I learned was that sometimes it is better to NOT fully gear up your ship, since sometimes having extra inventory slots is handy. You CAN upgrade the ship so that it can hold more inventory or equipment.

You'll get some quests along the way, but the main quest has you visiting four different islands, each with their own challenges to proceed. Despite the game's atmosphere, it has a casual nature to it...you probably won't find yourself struggling. There is also an Encyclopedia of fish to fill in...including catching their variants. I probably spent about 20% or so of my time back tracking to do this...but didn't really mind.

I enjoyed the "sanity meter", although I didn't understand it well at first. Spend time in the dark, and creepy things start to happen, draining your sanity. As your sanity drains...OTHER things happen. Or are they? Are those eyes in the dark watching you? Are these rocks popping up out of nowhere! Some places hide lore that can only be seen when you are on the brink of insanity. Is that wreck in the rocks under the lighthouse....your wreck? Are you dead? Are you alive? What is with that disappearing island? These strange altars? These black rocks that start glowing when you lose sanity? It is fun to explore!

Anyways...I got it on sale when it was $16 or so, and got about 20 hours out of it. My aim is always to spend $1 an hour for entertainment...which I did here. And I actually enjoyed myself too!

I just don't get it. It isn't exactly bad, I guess. There are a lot of grammar issues mixed in...I'm guessing English isn't the creator's primary language. No big deal, but it is noticeable here and there. I played through once...there are different endings, but you have to start from the beginning each time. No big deal...I decided to try that. Locked myself out of progressing because I missed an object in a hallway and it wouldn't let me back into the hallway. There are only three chapters, so maybe roughly a total of 20 or so screens.

But that brings me to my next oddity...the game is 4.5 GBs. For a game that is so short and mostly static images with dialogue...why is this game so big? It just...seems off to me. I decided that although I didn't really regret playing this odd game, I wouldn't really recommend it to anyone.

This is another one of those "Yes, but..." or "No, unless..." type of recommendations.

You "armies" (each represented by a character on the map) and the enemy face off on the map. There are some terrain bonuses (standing in the grass gives you better dodge, for example). Sometimes, unexpected events may happen...reinforcements or weather may change your plan.

But...speaking of plans...that was sort of my issue here. The units don't have a ton of health. Since you move all your characters and then the AI moves their, it is very easy for one unit to take three hits and just instantly be wiped out on the enemy turn. The units don't really have much in terms of abilities or skills...so you're basically playing paper-rock-scissors against different unit types.

Combat happens in that "both parties get an attack" type way. So if you attack someone but don't kill them, they get a free counter-attack. This doesn't help with your characters falling in battle...even if you surround a strong opponent and wail away, he is still getting as many hits on you as you are on him, despite being outnumbered.

Some levels have different requirements, especially if you want to get the bonuses. Winning within a certain amount of rounds...or maybe you want to collect bonus items on the map. Because of this, the paper-rock-scissors thing, and the quick player deaths....you start to feel like the levels are puzzles more than battles. There seem to be only limited "correct" answers in order to achieve your objectives. I think this is what really through me off the game most.

There is a storyline of some sort here, but...I had trouble following. I'm not sure if there was a weird translation issue going on or if I'm just too unfamiliar with French terms and names. In between battles you can buy items to equip your characters with, but...I didn't get any use of this because by the time the game got frustrating nothing had been unlocked yet.

I wouldn't have minded the option of grinding a bit on randomized levels to get stronger and brute forcing my way through. There are side missions that, in theory, eventually pay off with better shops and other bonuses...but I didn't make it far enough to get there. I did all the side missions that unlocked but still found myself struggling more than I was enjoying it.

In the end, I felt that I was losing combat because I didn't guess the correct strategy the developer intended, rather than having developed my own. I'm not going to say this is a bad game, but it just isn't the type of SRPG I had been looking for. I wanted something along the lines of Final Fantasy Tactics and Fell Seal: Arbiter's Mark and this just fell short of what I was looking for.

I respect what the devs were doing here. In a large enough group, I bet this could be a lot of fun! Our group of four people ended up wandering around trying to find each other on the large maps...once we got it to stop crashing long enough for us to play.

The concept seems fun. Some people are SCPs (monsters), and others are trying to escape. There is a timer counting down until the whole place blows up. It definitely has an old school feel to it...like some forgotten Quake or Half-Life mod or something.

In the end though, we moved on. The game was a bit too broken for us....but I suspect if you were with a group of people large enough it could be a lot of fun. Sort of reminds me of old school LAN parties.

I played the base game with just the free "party" DLC. The game is definitely a mix of good and bad...the cars can sometimes end up all over the place and blocking up the drive aisles for more cars to come in...but they did add a "reset" button that'll make everything disappear so it can be fixed. There are some events mixed in there, but if you find them too annoying you can turn them off (a nice feature!).

The game is basically just a mix of mini games. Ringing customers up, fueling cars, fixing cars, so forth. Indivudual "departments" can be turned off...or you can hire staff to run them for you, turning it more into an idle game where all you have to do is keep the place stocked. The game is hard (maybe even impossible?) to fail, and has a lot of hidden surprises mixed around.

It can absolutely get tedious at times, so how much you enjoy this may depend on how quickly you get bored by doing the same thing over and over again. Personally...I don't mind some mind-numbing tedium while watching a show in the background, so I enjoyed it. But it won't be for everyone.

The game probably would last more efficient people 10-15 hours to get to the end...maybe another 5 to get Perfect? It looked like some of the achievements were from the DLC, so I didn't go for it.

Anyways...if any of that sounds interesting...I'd still wait for a sale...but it's a good zone out game!

An interesting RPG based on old "chose your own adventure" style gamebooks, such as the Lone Wolf series. There is definitely some strategy involved here...and you're going to need to chose which skills you want to level up carefully so you can continue the quest easily. I found myself constantly short on funds to build up my skills, which meant I had to figure out ways to "grind" in a game that really isn't designed for grinding. But...that could have also of been bad luck on my end as well. Or poor choices.

Either way, this is a great option (for Free none the less) if you remember playing those old single player gamebooks and want to relieve some of those memories.

Othercide is a strategy combat game with several interesting twists that almost add a puzzle element to it. You enter combat with three "Daughters" and can chose from initially three (and later four) "classes" (A Tank, a Ranged, and a melee DPS). The enemies are strong, but a bit slower than the Daughters. The key is to set up offensive and defensive strategies in order to succeed in the various mission types. For example, you can have your ranged sit back a bit and use their "interrupt" skill, allowing the to negate an enemy attack and do damage at the cost of some health. These "reaction" skills are a good addition to the game and add some strategy. You can also opt for a Daughter to essentially take a double turn, which allows her to do more on her turn but causes her next turn to come at a delay.

You can eventually sacrifice your Daughter in order to heal and slightly empower another Daughter, giving you an easier time at the next attempt at progression. In addition, you unlock bonuses that can be applied to their sills as well as other bonuses that can give you passive abilities. The more "points" you earn from runs, the more of these you can apply...making progression even easier (although never too easy).

The bosses can be a bit tough your first time, since you need to figure out what their main mechanic is. After that, they tend to be easier. Your memory may be better than mine, but it may not hurt to take notes so you can remember the best strategy for each boss.

These small additions make for an interest strategy game. The game looks amazing, but my laptop fan definitely stays running at full speed. In addition, there are some very minor bugs, such as sometimes your movement range not being highlighted for you. The atmosphere of the game is great...it can be a lot of fun to puzzle through the lore.

Overall, this is a great game. If you are a fan of tactic based games, with a hint of puzzle elements, then this game is a no brainer...especially if the atmosphere strikes your fancy. I didn't beat it (I'd imagine I'm about half way through), but someone else who is really into this genre probably could sink their teeth into it even further than I did.
