The voice acting alone is worth it.
I haven't had this much fun with friends in ages

The Writing and gameplay are reminiscent of Divinity Original Sin 2 (the studio's last title), which would warrant an enthusiastic recommendation on its own, but this time around both are somehow even better. The Graphics and Cinematics are both of AAA quality and a considerable leap over their prior titles. This game is a masterpiece and probably already GOTY. Do yourself a favor and experience it, I really can't stress how nonpareil and special a game with this much passion, quality and character is.

Early Access Review
This game is a love letter to battlefield fans made by like 3 people. Somehow still better than every battlefield game since 4, and even then as an early access title it's still more polished than 3 and 4's launch lmao.

The grind is suffering beyond measure, but the game is fun.

This game feels AI generated. The combat and shooting is generic and uninteresting. The driving feels bad. The voice-acting for most characters are delayed and unnatural on top of the already generic and mediocre writing. Performance isn't that great either, even on a 4090. To top it all off they want you to use a 3rd party launcher to play this after paying $60. Just play literally anything else.

TLDR; Game slaps, just like the first one.
Everspace 2 is a narrative-driven spaceship dogfighter game with RPG elements (weapons and enemies that scale over the course of the game + some perks and such. Lots of +10% kinetic damage and things like that. You know the drill... honestly it could've done without them but they're inoffensive at the very least)
At its core this game is held up by strong shooting, movement and exploration mechanics.
Building around that core gameplay is an incredible musical score, good graphics and what is almost unheard of in the 2023 gaming market: very optimized performance and no bugs.
For $10 cheaper than a modern AAA title, Everspace 2 fully delivers in in content, quality and polish.

Port is buggy. I haven't experienced any crashing and only a few minor performance hiccups, but I've ran into some strange bugs so far. To give an example of how up and front of some of them are: all of my UI bottom prompts have turned to unreadable gibberish... somehow...

Other than the bugs, which once again there are a fair few, the game runs okay and looks spectacular. And to address the elephant in the room, port issues aside, the game itself is phenomenal.

- Writing is atrocious
- Gameplay is mediocre
- Map and UI are bloated to a comical degree as with any modern ubisoft title
- Mandatory Ubisoft launcher
- Denuvo anti-tamper

All that aside it can be kinda fun with 1 or more friends.
Do not buy this game to play single-player, even on a deep sale
Graphics are ok for a modern title, but optimization leaves a lot to be desired. No DLSS or FSR support from what I saw in the settings and the game has noticeably stuttered at times even on my RTX 4090.
