I've spent more hours listening to the OST than playing the game.

But the game is still fun (albeit feeling its age), and the story is phenomenal.

You can't make a game a spiritual successor to anything if it doesn't have any spirit.

They didn't push any new ground hard enough. Turtle Rock tried with the card system and it can change the gameplay a little, but doesn't do enough to justify the many steps backward this game takes in comparison to it's "spiritual" predecessors.

Compared to it's competition, B4B fails to deliver content-wise, gameplay-wise, and especially in atmosphere. I don't care about the characters or anything that is happening in the story, and no effort was put towards the story anyway since any character can be in any level and there isn't much of a scripted story (Which can be fine for a horde shooter IF it's fun). Nothing the game does in shooting, movement, or general gameplay feels particularly innovative. I finished the game in 15 hours, but feel no desire to replay it. Coop is ok, but the pvp is pretty stale and underwhelming compared to L4D versus.

When I say the gameplay feels bland, It's hard to draw specifics cause it really does just play like every other generic FPS ever made. There's nothing done particularly wrong, but I don't think [insert generic lifeless FPS game here] is what most people want to run out and drop $60 on.

Instead of Back 4 Blood, this game should have been Back in Development.

Worthless if you are a duke or lower.
However, for any run that you plan on being king or higher, this expansion is a game changer and really adds a huge amount of much needed flavor to the base game. Would recommend overall, considering this is a game you play for 100's of hours, and this is content which can add dozens if not 100s more on top of that.

Dying Light 1 was a masterpiece.
All the strengths and weaknesses of the first game are here: Amazing gameplay and atmosphere but forgettable story + characters

Biggest differences so far I've noticed is that in this one there is no niche PvP mode, but more to do in single-player

Therefore, so long as nothing game-breaking or unexpected happens which drastically reduces enjoy-ability out of nowhere, I can conclude from my brief time with it so far that Dying Light 2 is also a masterpiece

edit: after beating the game, I either went too easy on the writing or it just gets progressively worse over time. DL2's story is not forgettable; in fact the dialogue, story and characters are cringeworthily bad and I WISH I could forget how genuinely god-awful that aspect of the game was.

The real draw of this game is its atmosphere and storytelling. These are phenomenally well done, and you get to make several weighty decisions which drastically alter the fate of London throughout the story. These have a visible effect on London's residents. If you kill too many important people in a district, it will collapse entirely, filling up with monsters or enemies and losing many of its living residents. Alternatively, if you decide to get along with a community and its pillars, you can keep the citizens healthy as a doctor and the district will remain friendly and full of living residents which you can talk to and do quests for. You have incentives for both, since by eating people you get stronger in combat, but by sparing them you can learn more about them, their lives, and do quests; which I found to be interesting enough to warrant my time.

The combat seems to be the most contentious point about this game

Personally, I like it. It isn't particularly deep but it is engaging. Enemies swing at you, you dodge their swings, then when there's an opening you attack them. Rinse and Repeat. I found it to be comparable to a souls-like, what with the heavy use of dodge, stamina-gauge management and heavy punishment for mistakes. The camera and enemy lock-on can be a bit finicky at times, but the controls are tight otherwise. Definitely far from a deal-breaker in my eyes.

Finally I think its worth mentioning that for an indie title, this game looks and sounds phenomenal. The animation work for enemies and yourself really help give the combat some weight. NPC's and yourself look very good texture-wise, which helps sell the writing and narrative which tries to keep the story as grounded as a vampire story can be. The music is also worth praising, as you are followed by a gloomy latin choir and somber violins: Very fitting ambiance for a vampire. Finally, I have to comment on the city itself. London in Vampyr is a foggy poorly-lit infected dump, and man does it look amazing.

All in all at the price-point this game is at, its worth it. On sale is even better. If you're looking for an RPG world you can 'sink your teeth into' and get lost in for a few days: this is it.

I was so-so on this game up until now, but since B41 has dropped I can confidently say that for a multiplayer experience this game is amazing. Don't expect it to be all excitement all the time, only play this game with people whose company you enjoy since there is a lot of downtime. If you and your friends are willing to get immersed in the world and put some time aside for this gem, you will have some special moments that are hard to find elsewhere; of both the wholesome type during downtime, and of the horror type when that downtime is inevitably and abruptly ripped from your hands by zombies.

Never thought I'd be seeing halo overtaking COD and battlefield ever again, and I definitely never imagined they would be doing it on steam... But here we are. I guess dreams really can come true. So, Thank you 343, for not giving up after 4 & 5, but using what you learned to make one of the best halos to date.

This is one of the best free games on steam hands down. No microtransactions; no BS. Just grab some friends and have nonstop fun through dozens of hours worth of content. This game is a gift to the steam community, so I strongly recommend you give it a shot, after all, its free!
