Already bought and beat the game on console, but loved it so much I decided to double dip. The dialogue while cheesy, wears itself as a badge of honor DMC style that always manages to make me crack a smile. The first person animations really fit in beautifully with the hectic and explosive gameplay. The story and characters while not winning any awards are more than compelling enough to keep you playing. The soundtrack is an actual eargasm, and the gameplay is as fluid as humanly possible. The graphics are nice too, and still more than stack up with modern AAA games given how fast you cut through everything... as long as you dont look too closely at anyone.

TL;DR my short amount of hours are cause of a double dip. One of my all time favorite games, its frenetic, chaotic and fun as hell. For what they're charging, if you like what you see so far, its a steal.

Rage 2 has a fantastic gameplay loop, but seemingly does everything in its power to limit the amount of fun you can have with a boring story and pointless sandbox. id software should have just stuck to their doom formula with this one for sure.

Gameplay wise the game is very fun and refreshing, one of the best formulas for a competitive shooter out there. Graphically the game looks quite nice as well.

However, the devs are very incompetent and VERY FREQUENTLY break the game and end up having to remove core content or every single game you have to experience an invincible enemy or something in that range. Additionally, the devs prefer to focus on banning people for being edgy in chat as oppose to actual trolls, hackers and exploiters.

The anti-cheat is very on and off, some seasons there will little to no hackers, some seasons it will be a serious problem making the game nearly unplayable.

The game is very unpolished and has lots of bugs and glitches, usually minor but sometimes major, due to the aforementioned devs. An example of one currently in the game is clientside ragdolls which can obscure lines of site for an individual but not everyone else.

Finally, the community is EXTREMELY toxic, people will use exploits every game without fail if it exists, you will run into teamkillers or people who rage, and just about everything in chat will be ♥♥♥♥ talk.

Microtransactions everywhere, from cosmetics to operators (which Drastically affect gameplay). While they can be grinded up to, its guarenteed to take you 100+ hours and by the time you're ready for ranked you'll either be playing with a leg down (less ops available) or shill out money. They do put in free content like maps, but usually along with microtransactions.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~TL;DR~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
All that said, the core gameplay is very enjoyable, and when ubi's head isnt up their ass its addictive as hell. Also play with friends so you dont have to deal with the community being on your team, that eliminates that problem. All round the game is a tosssup, but despite all the bad, I still end up enjoying it.
2020 edit:
Currently though for a player joining the game I can't reccomend it, Ubi has been lowering the amount of content and upping the monetization while keeping prices the same. In addition their anti-toxic moves makes this game very frustrating to learn. If you accidentally teamkill while learning the game your first offence will net you a 30 minute ban from ALL multplayer. In addition, you can't ♥♥♥♥ talk at all in game or you get banned, and this feature was implemented before the game was even in a playable state so we can see where Ubi's priorities lay.
Also you need to go through Ubisoft Club which is a trash launcher with frequent bugs, some of which prevent you from playing the game you paid for.
11 years later and It's still one of the best co-op shooters on the market. For 10$ or less if you've never experienced this game its a steal. If you can get 4+ friends on for a versus or scavenge game its one of the most fun party games around. All that with endless workshop content and it's no wonder this game is so loved. Just be aware online MP with randos is VERY sweaty, so don't expect to just hop on alone.
Really really great game. gameplay loop is very fun and the mechanics are extremely fluid and fun to play around with. The amount of content seems almost infinite as someone who just started, and while there is grind, its nothing throwing around a bit of cash to support the devs cant fix.
Did I mention it's free and receives some of the most dev support you'll ever see in a game?
Did I also mention the community is extremely helpful to new players?
Game certainly has a good foundation for what it sets to do.
However it's way too dead for any PvP or T-Hunt, no server under 200 ping had a single person near me (EUS), so all I had to try is the single player. However the Single player itself pleasantly surprised me. Maps are big and asymetrical, some with lots of verticality even, and the night maps in many places don't just get dark, but are PITCH BLACK. The AI, while only enemy, is pretty fun to play with. Right now they only have one set of voice lines that I've heard, so the same "CONTACT" every time you get spotted plays, but that leads into the good part. The AI won't just stand around waiting for you, sometimes they will, but behind a wall or in a dark corner, other times they'll actively hunt for you, and if you've already been spotted rather than shouting "CONTACT", they'll just put you down. The sound design and atmosphere the game already has in place is amazing, for both the guns and ambient map noise, which really sets the mood for jumpscares, cause when the AI hunts you, they'll often do it in complete silence, and walking down a pitch black corridor slowly approaching an open door and suddenly hearing a shout or three bullets entering your spine really made me jump... on multiple occasions.
Whether a good, but incomplete solo-play is enough for 20$ is up to you, but if you could get friends on board with this game and have a 2v2 or play coop, I would say 100% grab this game.
Copped this game on sale for 35 bucks, and while I wouldn't pay 60$, I've certainly had a lot of fun with the story and offline play, learning the characters and seeing all their flashy moves and abilities. I convinced my friend to get it and we're gonna give multiplayer a shot soon, but on a sale pricepoint i can 100% recommend this to any weebs.
I played solo for about 30 hours before beating the campaign, and yeah the story is terrible, but it serves as a good excuse to see famous jump characters beat the snot out of each other.
I'm not big into fighting games so it seems fine to me, but my friends who are into competitive fighters tell me the mechanics are whack, so if you want a competitive fighter IDK if its for you.
Graphics are amazing, game is in unreal engine and man do they not hold back on the particle effects for abilities and ultimates.
TL;Dr if you're a weeb or a casual looking for more of a spectacle fighter or a fun way to kill time, this is it, but buy on a sale. If you're looking for a competitive fighter get mortal kombat or something.
TL;DR Loved the first one, but this one runs like hot garbage
>My first game i maybe had 40 frames or so, but it was workable and the gameplay itself improves upon the first and it looked really good.
>I lower graphic settings to up frames and hop in a new game -> Gun models and playermodels stop loading in.
>What.
>Exit game to restart - it crashes and I have to restart my PC
>try loading up the game & I getting in a lobby again, everythings still invisible.
>try exiting out again.. Crash. Restart Pc.
Refunded, wish they put in the time to make the game polished before releasing it. If they finish making their game I'll buy it again and I can take down this review.
