As a slightly late adopter of BG3 due to an unending backlog of games all I can say is wow! The game is a masterfully crafted role-playing game that seamlessly blends a captivating narrative with deep, strategic gameplay. As a fan of D&D, RPGs and the previous games in the series, diving into the world of BG3 felt like a nostalgic journey with a fresh and modern twist.

The standout features of the game is its attention to detail in world-building. The Realm come to life with stunning visuals, intricate character designs, and atmospheric soundscapes that create an immersive experience. The level of detail in the environments, from bustling cities to eerie dungeons, is nothing short of impressive. And not that I've delved into the extended capabilities of modding I've been reassured by friends this can be extended ten-fold should I want it to be.

Another strong point is the story they've gone through and your constant changing path through that narrative, weaving a complex and engaging story that keeps players hooked from start to finish. The game allows for meaningful choices (assuming you don't save/reset each one), each impacting the story you experience and the character relationships you develop along your journey, fostering a sense of agency that is integral to any great D&D style experience. The well-written dialogue and voice acting further enhance the storytelling, making each character feel unique and memorable, not to mention the wild ways you can 'have at' each of those characters as well!

Also the amount of stuff they have littered around that you can collect sets off my inner magpie at an alarming rate, where is the bag of holding to offset the amount of shinnies I need to gather. Or a side quest that propels me off to another area when I've yet to finish the current one. It's great to see that with it being as open world as it is there is still alot to do and see and collect (even if my camp storage chest would be bigger than an amazon distribution hub) to that my only complaint would be a better mechanic for sorting / auto sorting storage to combine up items that already exist in containers so I can spend less time chronically sorting and get out and adventure more (though that might also be more of a damning look at my OCD than a missed in-game opportunity).

Furthermore, the game is continually evolving through updates and patches, demonstrating the developers' commitment to refining and expanding the player experience through the studios' engagement with the community, actively seeking feedback and implementing changes, shows a dedication to creating a game that fans can truly enjoy. I just wish some of the other larger studios did this too! I can't wait for any additional content drops / expansions in the futur!

If you'd not already guessed from the brain waffle above, I would 100% recommend this game to anyone, even more so if you have a former love of D&D / RPGs or those wishing to get transported to a fantasy realm or even as a starter to D&D/TTRPGs to get a loose grip on the rules before heading out to find a gaming group!

UPDATE |
Played this again recently after all the work they've been doing to add bits here and there as well as a continued drive to fix things that are broken and all I can say is wow! The games as good as ever and should my partner get some time free I'd love to start a joint dark campaign to see where that leads!

Having gone back and played this game after the crock of crap that was 'Arkham Knight' it truly brings home how great this seris of games started off. Even with a much smaller navigatable area then the other games in the franchise, this is still my favorite between the characters you meet and the story elements that drive you along, and who wasnt frustrated trying to get that final riddler trophy which you can openly see and try all the fancy gadgets to get to find out all you needed to do was crouch.
