This game used to have a very rough learning curve for new & returning players, but I can say that it has been smoothed greatly over the last few years. The curve is still there, but there's fewer bumps. Everything Totalbiscuit (God rest his soul) said in his printed curator review still holds up today. This game is a tremendously well-crafted space ninja power fantasy that has aged well with time. Highly recommend at any entry point.

I personally switched to this game when Helldivers 2 stopped scratching that itch.

My biggest complaint? Just, please do yourself a favor and have the wiki open in a separate tab. This game still has a LOT to learn from its own community wiki about explaining mechanics accurately to the player.

This USED to be a game I'd recommend. Not anymore. First it was Sony with the region-locking, but now Arrowhead Studios have gone out of their way to show everyone they are incapable of managing their game balance as well as community expectation. I cannot in good faith recommend this until both issues are rectified. AH needs to figure once and for all if HD2 is a power fantasy, or a horde shooter.

A shining exemplar of an entry-level puzzle game. Not *every* puzzle is super-satisfying to solve, but the vast majority of them are. The always-online aspect is also a point against it, but the game runs smooth as butter and I haven't experienced any game-play disruptions. There are multiple progression paths and so many different optional objectives to take on--truly a completionist's paradise. And it also helps that the sound and music presentation are also fantastic. Solving puzzles strikes your ears with satisfying tones and the music is ambient, yet atmospheric.

I don't even play puzzle games. I think this is the first one I've picked up in over a decade. And I just can not put it down.

The logical step up from YGO: Duel Links. Once you're finally tired of your favorite deck never seeing support released and/or you're sick of Cyber Dragons being on the ban list and have lost all hope they will ever see the light of day, this is where you can play the FULL experience; for all the good and bad that it offers.

The game itself is solid, but your experience will always depend on what deck you're playing. Reviewing MD under the lens of 25 years of game evolution is rather silly.

TL;DR - You already know if you like this or not. The question is whether you prefer the full YGO experience, or don't mind the simplicity (and gaping holes of archetypes) that DL provides.

The ONLINE-ONLY aspect of this game isn't as bad as one might think. This game does not prevent you from playing any chapter of the main game. It does lock you out of achievements, leaderboards, alternative missions, etc, and that does suck. But I believe calling H3 ONLINE-ONLY is a misnomer.

If you bought H2, don't buy this unless it's on sale. If you're new, this is a great place to start, but be sure to complete the tutorial.

To determine whether or not you'll hit an enemy, just subtract your unit's Strength parameter by the Dodge parameter of the intended target. Then, divide your unit's Accuracy parameter by the square root of pi, remembering to factor in the quadratic formula using Pascal's principle. Take that value and the opponent's unit level and use the Pythagorean theorem to determine the hypotenuse of the zenith of the parabola. Use the transitive property whenever possible, but only after you have graphed out your Fear attribute as a factored polynomial in accordance with the Riemann Hypothesis. Solve for x, complete the square, show your work, and defend your thesis.

Then hit "End Your Turn" and begin again.

One of the greatest games I have ever had the privilege to play. The worst part of it though, is that you have to play it with other people.
