It WAS a good game until now. You are REQUIRED to create a PSN account in order to play this game and they claim its for "safety and security". Tell me how this makes sense, to mandate players to create an account with a company that is KNOWN FOR SELLING YOUR DATA IN THE NAME OF "SAFETY AND SECURITY". Long story short, if you care about your data being sold to third parties. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME. I guess now we know why the game is called Helldivers.....

Edit: Sony will NOT impede our way to democracy!

The game is ten years old and treyarch is still selling this game for $50 USD as of January 23, 2022.... Even Rockstar isn't THAT much of a wh0re when it comes to drilling holes into people's pocket.

Turtle Rock Studios? More like Turtle Rock Bottom with this game. The copper currency goes against the idea of CO-OP. It makes the players look out for themselves rather than a team. They can spend the copper on items/weapons they want which are affordable OR they could spend it on team upgrades when that costs about 4-5 times more than the items cost itself. Items like grenades, razor wires, and tool kits are more cost effective overall. The special "ridden" have "weak points" for you and and your team to fire at to take them down effectively. For example, the tall boys have their weak point on their arm. Sounds easy to hit right? Now take into account of 3-4 of them spawned at the same time and all 4 of them are charging at you while you got normal zombies rushing you as well. You will not be able to hit those weak spots unless you're dead accurate and when your character doesn't flinch as much when hit. Now imagine what I said and add the RNG chance of the corruption cards. For example, there is a card for you to reach to the end of the level as fast as possible. If not the game director will trigger a horde event after a set time has expired (generally 2-3 mins). This type of event will repeat itself til you reach the end of the level. So you can imagine 3-4 tallboys charging right at your team then the director triggers the horde event. The game makes you want to quit after 2 attempts on the level. Meanwhile after those 2 attempts on a specific level and you fail, you are forced to replay the entire act.

This what happens when the devs over hype the game. So many videos or trailers involving B4B always started with "From the creators of Left 4 Dead" or "spiritual successor to Left 4 Dead" which ended up with consumers comparing to the L4D games, only to be let down after buying the game. I'll admit TRS comes up with great ideas but they're awful in executing it. Evolve faced a very similar issue, prior to release it was over hyped. After a few weeks after release, consumers were let down by the tedious tasks they constantly perform to progress. B4B is the same thing, all acts contain the same tasks: destroy nests, collect the specimen boxes, rescue trapped survivors from a specific building, and etc. It doesn't help that B4B's game director is practically based on pure RNG which dictates your chances of success in a run. L4D made killing zombies simple and enjoyable while B4B just makes killing "the ridden" tedious and miserable. It's always the shoot the "weak spots" to take down the ridden quicker.

Early Access Review
The idea of the game is really good and the game will make you think twice before you decide to go down a certain hallway. I understand that the game is still in early access but the two things that frustrates me the most is the technicality of the ROE and the AI. There is about a 70-80% chance from my experience that when you yell down a suspect, they can raise their hands with gun in hand then they slowly lower their muzzle and point it at you. You can shoot the the guy for that but the game penalizes you sometimes when the guy is literally AIMING right at you and shows no signs of actually surrendering. Secondly is the godly AI's senses, they can somehow spot you in pure darkness while you're about 15 plus feet away. On top of that, most of the time they'll open fire on you and their first 1-3 shots will hit you no matter how far you are. So basically you can literally get sniped by a terrorist who is wielding a glock!

I understand that the game is in alpha but it has been in alpha for quite some time. This game does have potential but the developers are more interesting in adding more content then optimizing their game. Controls are still wonky and i still get massive amounts of framerate drop. I would suggest this game but wait for the final product. At the moment this game isn't worth the price it is.

If you're looking for a game that requires teamwork then this is probably a game for you. There is a specific topic that Overkill will not do anything about and that is hackers/cheaters. I'm willing to bet that you will come across a cheater/hacker within the first 20 hours of gaming in this game. Since there is no anti-cheat system, people can literally hack all they want and will not be punished. They could even give you all the achivements in the game just because you happen to be in a game with them. The only thing the game would do is just place a cheater tag on the player and the tag would just go away after 2-3 heists if they stop. Some players are even hacking for skins just to make themselves look nicer. Also, some players hack their way to infamy without even knowing whats like to actually grind for the next level of infamy. Another issue that I want to go over is the DLCs. Overkill I understand that you're trying to make money but $5 per DLC that only includes 2 new weapons, 4-5 masks, and some new materials is just a bit pricey in my opinion. Most of the times, the DLC weapons aren't even that great in general stats wise.

This game is almost like SWAT 4 but in top down view. You must plan and execute it well in order to rescue civs, reduce team casualties, arrest suspects with warrants, defusing bombs in time, collecting evidence, and etc. There is a wide variety of missions and the campaigns. The game also offers a wide variety of weapons and classes for you to select to make entry to your target building. You must plan tactically and must avoid civ and team casualties otherwise your rating will be affected. You can also re-name your SWAT members to whatever name you want and you can give them a callsign of your choice as well. Overall its a good game, if you enjoyed the SWAT series then you'll enjoy this as well.
