Monolith had a wonderful reputation when it comes to sequels – for example: No Lives Forever I and II, Aliens Vs Predator I and II and to those who remembers Blood I and II. Unsurprisingly these are not the complete list of games produced by Monolith however I'm highlighting the fact that their sequels are normally better than the first. FEAR was a huge blockbuster that captivated many players to the world of the unknown; things that goes 'bump in the night' for which a famous icon of 'who's afraid of a little girl' was born. Given the proven past performance, it will be a daunting task to see if FEAR 2 supersedes FEAR in action, storyline and able to stand on its own two feet.

So the choice here is that whether you prefer all-out combat and uncanny AI (a.k.a. FEAR) or a decent story (a.k.a. FEAR 2) yet the irony is that to truly respect FEAR 2 is to play FEAR first (like seeing Star Wars before The Empire Strikes Back). As a standalone FEAR 2 certainly brought dashes of horror and tries to break the 'story' barrier of introducing a new squad but it's not at all a replacement. Play it for what its worth however bare in mind that FEAR 2 is part two of the story hence really couldn't stand on its own two feet if viewed independently.

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood is what you come to expect from an AAA product. Granted it would be a daunting task to do a reasonable follow up to the ever-so-popular Assassin's Creed 2 however considering it's very slow and somewhat confusing start, stay with it as from sequence four onwards catapults this game into a newer dimension – not as much as from Assassins Creed 1 to 2 however it's a total blast to play. For a newcomer for the series, if you can handle the spoilers, this game is a wonderful entry point as it has a lot to offer. Overall I felt Brotherhood is a better game than AC2 however without AC2, there's no Brotherhood.

Way back when, there was this demo disc called Station Magazine Demo – Disc One and on this, you get to see virtual Lara. Looking at it now she wiggles like a fish however back then, it was pretty damn cool as she explains about her new adventures being Tomb Raider 3 – Adventures of Lara Croft. Of course she describes that Tomb Raider 3 is the most exciting adventure yet as she has new outfits to wear, new locations to explore, advance AI, new features like sprint and so on however there was a key element right at the end of this clip stating she hopes we take good care of her. Well, whilst Tomb Raider 3 has all these new features, once thing is for certain, it's the hardest out of the three by a mile.

Whilst made all of those promises, and they are the words straight from Lara herself, the game play hasn't really changed much from the previous installments. Granted she does all those acrobatic maneuvers and showing no signs of vertigo, it still is the same game with different locations. Being the third installment, you think developers Core Design improves some of the game play like better camera angles or have the ability to use the mouse. Unfortunately this was not the case so veterans of the other two games shouldn't have any issues with the controls or putting up with the odd perk like the camera facing directly at Lara front on whilst jumping. Newcomers though will have great difficulty though.

This game is a basket case - end of story. And the only good thing about this game it's getting me closer to 1000 owned games.
