I am a long time hardcore Musou fan, and I want to share you guys my review. Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires is a Hack N' Slash game released by Koei Tecmo on November 20, 2014. I will break it all down to discuss the game from its graphics to gameplay.

---{ Graphics }---
The game looks beautiful, Shaders and Troops amount eats the most of your GPU. Effects are cool, very flashy, because of the weapon effects, Rage mode and the ludicrous amount of Troops. Not recommended if you are Photosensitive. This game is a flashy Hack N' Slash. You have been warned!

---{ Gameplay }---

Empire Mode Features
There are A LOT of missing features that are missing on this game. Delegation and Troop stratagems during the meeting from DW5 Empires is gone. But we do have the cool Stratagems system that intensifies the game mid battle. You'll start to panic or plan your move when an enemy officer initiates a Fire Attack, Raining Arrows and such.

Difficulty
This franchise is meant to be played on the hardest difficulty. If you are a newbie, I recommend you to skip "Novice and Easy" Mode, go straight to Normal.

Replayability
The replayability is endless. You can role day and do anything you want. You can create your own Character, Army, Factions and Horses.

The Weapon Types and Compatibility System

The Dynasty Warriors franchise is known by casual fans for "Meh, I just spam Light and Charge Attack to make combos", well you are right, and you missed some of the point on the newer DW titles (DW7 onwards). We have the Weapon Compatibility System. Your characters have certain profession when it comes to specific weapons (ex. Liu Bei is best for Dash Type weapons, and Cao Cao is best for Shadow Sprinter) etc.

Dash Type - This Weapon Type is the easiest to master. You can use Combo Cancel using the Jump button, and use the jump mechanic to either juggle your opponent, escape an opponent or continuing to punish the enemy.

Whirlwind/ Wind Master Type - This Weapon Type is the strongest of the bunch and the weapon type that requires you to excel in defensive since you are vulnerable in certain scenarios. You just spam Light or Charge attack, and a whirlwind appears to deal damage. Recommended for experienced players if playing on Chaos because you'll have problems escaping enemy attacks if either they block your attacks or archers (these archers are annoying on Chaos) shoots you mid combo.

Shadow Sprinter Type - Shadow Sprinter users can cancel Charge Attacks by pressing the Light Attack button. Best suited for players chaining combos to punish and juggle opponents. Different weapons has different Shadow Sprint distance, so experiment to chain combos if you can.

Diver Type - Is the defensive type of weapons, simply press the Jump button to dive backwards and avoid further damage.

I will provide examples of combos you can perform on specific Weapon Type

Dash Type
Liu Bei - C5 > Jump Towards Enemy > Jump Heavy Attack > Air Musou
Jia Xu - C5 > EX > Jump Light Attack (must hit opponent and drags him near you > C3 > Jump Light Attack (grab again) > C2 > EX > Musou 1

Whirlwind Type
Any Characters - C1 > Any Charge Attacks > Musou before enemies fly away from you

[Shadow Sprinter Type [/b]
Cao Cao - C1 > Shadow Sprint > C5 > C1 > Shadow Sprint > C5 > Shadow Sprint > C1 > EX > Musou 1

Dive Type
Any Characters - (When taking damage) > Dive> C1 > Any Charge Attacks > Musou before enemies fly away from you

---{ Audio }---
The Dynasty Warriors franchise is also known for its Heavy metal chinese aesthetic soundtracks, and this title doesn't have new scores to show. Well except there are some, but they are DLC. The downside of this game is that the old tracks that are present in EVERY DW game is missing. You are stuck on listening to the repetitive DW8 Soundtracks sadly.

---{ Audience }---
Everyone can play DW8E, except if you are photosensitive. This game is VERY flashy, please be warned.

---{ PC Requirements }---
On this current age of gaming, you can play this game on integrated GPU (Inter HD Graphics). Turn OFF Shaders, Vsync to 1 and you'll be fine if you don't care about framerate. I'm playing this game on 30fps and I don't give a sht because this game is amazing.

---{ Difficulty }---
Meant to be played on Chaos mode. But yeah, if you're a newbie, skip the Easy mode and go for Normal difficulty.

---{ Grind }---
The only thing you want to grind on this game is the rewards on Quest. You can skip it entirely, but it is recommended if you're playing as a vagabond or general.

---{ Story }---
Just your standard DW's ROTK Story, but with Empires, you can role play if you want or play a specific scenario during the Three Kingdoms' specific timeline.

---{ Game Time }---
You can play this game ENDLESSLY. Its up to you when to quit.

---{ Price }---
Get it on Sale, its still overprices as of today.

---{ Bugs }---
Only 1, a troop never lands on the floor lol

--- VERDICT ---
This game is awesome. You can role play, and the amount of stuff you can do on Edit Mode is endless. Any true Warriors fan would not complain a single thing about how repetitive these Musou games are. The clone weapons for unique characters are now gone on this entry. With a bunch of missing features of the previous Empires game, I would give this game a whooping.
