F1 24, the latest release in the F1 franchise (15th installment)

Overall, the game looks pretty decent, career mode has been revamped, there has been an adjusted tyre model, and setups have had a few interesting changes making for more small adjustments. The track updates are good as well, Spa finally updated for example, and it feels nice.

The handling has been a big talking point within the community and it's had mixed opinions.
I have personally been frustrated by the amount of handling updates. I have had a hard time adjusting to it when it keeps changing. As of now however, they kept to one and I have gotten used to it, and I'm getting better gradually. However it's still quite sensitive and the style of driving this game doesn't really suit me.
They tried something different this year and it's just not worked out, things like this happen sometimes.

With league racing on this game, I wish more people would play, we've gone through other bad releases in the past without a problem.

Some general things as well:
The optimisation still isn't great, I'm on a powerful PC and yet the game can have stutters at random moments, and I haven't even maxed out the graphics. So it's pretty annoying.
The online servers are not the worst, league races have been fairly stable and I haven't experienced bugs.
The quality of racing of the game is similar to F1 23, mostly pack racing, which I don't enjoy much, but when there is someone to battle with (preferably one or two people), I try to make it fair and clean :)

--------------------------------------------------------

Overall, F1 24 is a slight letdown compared to how it was teased. With the handling changes that happened all the time it was quite annoying. However once you get used to it, it feels better over that time in my opinion, I generally don't mind it that much. It's quite overhated in the sense that the handling, and the game in general isn't the "dumpster fire" that people think it is.

In my opinion it's not the worst F1 game, 2014 and 2015 are contenders for that, 2014 was basically a 2013 copy with less features and worse handling, the other had no career mode and safety car as well as the same point as 2014, barely any features.

If you were to get this game in the future, I recommend waiting for a sale or a discount. It's way too much on Steam at full price for what it provides.

F1 24 had potential with all the other features on the game being decent, but the driving experience is a mixed feeling. I hope F1 25 is a major improvement.

Grid Legends, the 5th installment in the Grid franchise by Codemasters.

It's a really fun game for casual online racing with friends. With the arcadey feeling of most Grid games, the franchise in general is good for casual races.
Most cars handle nicely, and the graphics are really pretty.
Car selection is different from other games, and there are some cool new tracks, including my pure home track, Sydney Motorsport Park :) a track I have actually been to a few times now.
Changing the weather type is fun, you can try out rain, fog and even snow!

This review is only short because I haven't gotten into the main parts of the game yet like the story and the career mode, and have only played 8 hours at the time of this review.
In a personal sense, I wanted to play some different games as I was only actively playing the F1 games and nothing else, so I thought maybe I can return to Grid by getting this.
So far, I am very much enjoying the game, and I recommend it to people wanting to get it!

As a person who used to play the Grid games, mostly Grid Autosport, making a return to them with this game has been totally worth it.

Reviewing the latest F1 game release by EA and Codemasters, F1 23.

Positives

The handling is amazing, probably the best it's ever been on the current generation of F1 games (2015 onwards). As a controller player, the new technology it has to create smoother driving has really made me pleased, I can be competitive at tracks that I never was before (like Jeddah), because the delay has gone away completely in fast direction changes. Props to them for caring about controller players more this release, and trying to make it more equal to the wheel as well.

The game is more realistic: tyre wear and deg is actually felt during a race and you have to adapt to the conditions. High speed corners are very grippy and slow corners have low grip, as was described with the real life cars when the regulations were introduced. I'm not a hardcore sim racer but I think the people that are would be happy with this.

Strategy variations are back, with softs able to be used again without dying after just a few laps.

Slipstream and DRS are more effective which means more chances to have battles on track.

F1 World is much better than F1 Life from F1 22, everything is built in to this part of the game, and you can get upgrades and stuff for your custom F1 World car. The scenarios are fun, and the challenges are something to do at least when you've got nothing else. A good improvement on the feature.

All the engine sounds are really nice, and more realistic. A good step up again.

The crossplay connection appears to be better on this game, I haven't noticed the issues at all that I had on F1 22 regarding desync and major lag. This is good as more leagues are switching to crossplay due to people on the EA platform, as it's quite pricey here.

Negatives

The AI are better than last game, but they are still quick on the straights, so it's not possible to defend from them a lot of the time.

The online servers are very unstable, disconnections have been happening more frequently in league races.

The general bugs have been unnecessary, the equal cars glitch happening twice, and having to use the terrible handling player cars. Luckily, this has been fixed up now, and hopefully won't have to do it ever again.

Conclusion

Overall, F1 23 is a great game and I'm really enjoying it. It's one of the best F1 games in my opinion, with the much improved handling and traction, as well as some added realism. Hopefully it stays this way for the future!
However, the servers need improving, as it brings down the enjoyment when a race is affected by other people dropping out.

My review of F1 22, the latest F1 game release, and the first F1 game by EA since 2003.

Positives

- The engine sounds have changed and they are all really nice, they did a good job on that.

- The soundtrack is really good again, could even be better than 2021's soundtrack. I'm talking about the main theme, not the music that EA put in there.

- Some tracks have been updated and also more have been laser-scanned, which is good to see, there were complaints about inaccurate tracks last year and those updates are pretty good now.

- The features of lining up on the grid and pitting manually are good to have, it makes the game more immersive and realistic.

Negatives

- The handling is questionable, traction is hard to manage, you can also lose the rear in a very high gear, it's just not great. I believe it was due to them misinterpreting the new regulations, that's what David Greco (the handling guy at the time), said at some point.

- The AI have been fun to race with when it's clean, but their biggest flaw is that they are absolute terrorists. They dive you a lot and go for moves in unrealistic situations.

- The supercars are pretty useless and were not needed tbh. For an F1 game I don't think they are needed.

- Unnecessary bugs like tyre temps resetting after the formation lap.

- Crossplay is massive for the F1 games, it's never been a feature until now, but I had a lot of issues with it involving desync and other things, it was during the beta though so it can be fixed, but it just made it unraceable for me. Hopefully it's improved over time.

Conclusion

Overall, I enjoyed F1 22, but the handling made it hard to manage, you needed a lot of practice to do well.
I find it slightly underrated in that it wasn't the absolute worst game ever, so I give it a positive review. But obviously it did have its issues.

Reviewing the new F1 game by Codemasters and EA, F1 2021.

Positives
The game in general is decent.

- The graphics are very much improved, it looks more realistic.

- The game modes and new features are nice.

- The engine sounds are the same as F1 2020, however, they have a turbo whistle, which in my opinion makes the engine sound more realistic.

- The optimisation of the game for DirectX 12 is better than I expected, it's very stable with frame rate and the game runs fairly well.

- The ability to save full race replays are a very good feature, and I wanted this for a long time on the F1 games. This will really help with things like incidents in league races.

- Also the soundtrack of the game, is the most beautiful F1 game music I have heard in a few years. I love the F1 2012 and 2013 vibes it has to it. Really love it, well done on that!

Negatives
I like this game, but there are things that need to be worked on:

- The handling of this game is not that great considering the rest of the game was enjoyable overall. It's understeery and just doesn't have a lot of grip. It's disappointing after the good handling that F1 2020 had.

- The cars are a bit quicker compared to real life, like in Bahrain and Azerbaijan. It's not a massive deal but it makes it a bit less realistic.

- Online was buggy on occasions, especially with the desync issues, which happened severely twice during the game's cycle. Hopefully in the next game this is improved because it wasn't fun seeing people suffer with it.

---

Overall, F1 2021 is a decent F1 game, with improved realism, and great new features. However it was massively overshadowed by the issues that online had, in particular the desync that stopped leagues from running their races. And for an overall solid game, the handling was not that great. It was a big letdown.

However I still liked and enjoyed the game and so it's a positive from me.

Thanks for reading.

American Truck Simulator is a great game, it has scenery like no other, it also feels like a different world compared to Euro Truck Sim. I highly recommend this game.
The only thing i don't really like is how understeery the trucks are, because they are seemingly old trucks. But overall a great game and it's about the same enjoyment as ETS.

I reviewed this since the 1.40 update for trucking games, which looks beautiful!

Euro Truck Simulator is quite popular between my friends so I decided to try it.
It's actually a lot of fun! It's also a nice game to calm down on after a race on F1 for me :)

- Good graphics
- Very realistic, for example: Driver actually gets tired and when they start to fall asleep the screen gets darker. You refuel like in real life, stop the car and hold down a key to put in the fuel.
- I enjoy the multiplayer as well, it's pretty much the game itself but with real people instead of AI. But it's fun :D
- All the apps you have to install regarding this game are very useful, for example, TruckersBook, it logs your deliveries, and also you can join the trucking company of your friends! It's honestly a different kind of game for me, but I enjoy it.

The only negative about the game is that the AI sometimes has low IQ and they do dangerous things on the road which is annoying.

If you are stressed and you want to relieve it, this game is recommended for you! :D
Great fun game!

The latest F1 game by Codemasters, F1 2020

This game is great!! One of the best after 2018, with the handling being very good again, the car feels planted through every corner and i have so much fun :D handling feels similar to 2018 actually, except braking is much easier on this game.

I LOVE the My Team career mode, it's the most immersive a career mode can get, creating your own team and managing it whilst driving it through a season! This career is way more fun than the regular driver career which i can find boring sometimes.

I also believe the engine sounds are the most realistic they have ever been. The Ferrari and Renault sound the closest to real life in my opinion.

The AI have improved again as well, feels like you're racing a real person when you're racing with them, makes me less bored of GP mode races.

The overtake button is a good addition, it makes ERS management so much easier, I hated managing it in the other games, I couldn't drive as fast as I could because the ERS was too low and I had to save it...

I feel the automated highlights have also improved from 2019, they actually show overtakes made during the races.

The podium pass is fun, it rewards you for doing certain things and it's something to do when you're bored of everything else :D

Now with those great features of the game, let's get onto some cons.

There are less options for helmets... kinda disappointing tbh, I can't use the design I used in 2018 and 2019 because it isn't an option :(

Bugs including:
- not losing a single part of your wing after hitting a wall hard (has happened to me and some others)
- Desynced timing and lag (especially in spectator view, there are timing glitches)
- The strict corner cutting is even more strict now. A warning for barely going off track. It's really annoying.
- Getting held in the pits or the AI slowing down when a car does an unsafe release, is extremely annoying and can lose you time.

Overall, F1 2020 is one of the best F1 games to be made, with great handling, great features, and a career that brings me back into enjoying what I used to play before starting league racing! :D

In my opinion F1 2018 is one the best F1 games. I never had so much fun on a game before since the new gens started to release.

The handling feels great and I really enjoy the feel of this game. Only negative of the handling is that ballast is overpowered and it is not possible to do higher ballast for controller users like myself, so I mostly lost out to drivers using high ballast.

Career is immersive as ever, however i don't think it can beat 2019 or 2020's career.

I enjoy online races, it is mostly stable on this game, apart from the occasional lag bubble, where you go close behind someone and they spin out when you didn't even touch them. I have been affected by this issue before. But other than that, racing online is really fun on this game, I still play this game for league racing as of 2020.

The engine sounds are more realistic than 2017 and even 2019, my favourite sound is the Ferrari.

France is a new track that came into this game. A lot of people dislike that track but I actually enjoy it, I like the flow of it, and it's fun to race on too :D

F1 2018 is a really fun game and it's by far my favourite new gen game, maybe even my favourite overall. I highly recommend this game to anyone wanting older F1 games.

This is the only sim game I've played that is driveable on the controller. Even after 4 hours I enjoyed the game. However because I'm into F1 more I don't play this game very often, I noticed after playing this game I have to get used to the F1 handling again which takes a few laps.

Otherwise, ACC is an enjoyable game, and very fun to play even on controller. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to try out a sim game.
