Beyond Galaxyland is literally the game I would make if I had the time, money, and gumption. I make no hesitation to say that. A beautiful blend of some of the best game mechanics over Final Fantasy, Bioshock, and Pokémon, as well as sci fi story beats ranging from classical authors like Douglas Adams to Larry Niven.

The story is of teenage Doug being whisked away by DreamCore to their corporate intergalactic nature preserve Galaxyland after an apocalyptic entity known as "The End" destroys Earth, and makes Doug a prime endangered species for preservation.

Throughout the game, you befriend robots and aliens and some of the other preserved humans as you traipse around Galaxyland, discovering the true nature of DreamCore, "The End," and the mysterious terrorist known as Malefactor.

The game has extremely varied gameplay with diverse minigames galore so you'll never get bored. While art direction is a bit weak on the human pixel art, hand-drawn portraits and everything else in the pixel art is amazing quality, and major kudos to its cinematography and use of dutch angles. The soundtrack is so good I bought it off sale at full price. Game is a perfect 14ish hours with decent challenge and progression throughout the whole game.

It easily earns a 10/10 for me, and will be a studio I'll be eyeing for future games. P.S. -- controller extremely recommended!

As a huge fan of the franchise, I must say that this game is a condensed version than what we're used to. It is pretty much devoid of story save for some mild beats and threads to connect, but what it lacks for in that aspect it makes up for with the horror experience.

This game is designed to be finished within a few hours. I couldn't imagine it lasting over 5 hours. Resources are scarce and you must get out of your comfort zone to do anything. The most stress-inducing thing is the generator, which simply guzzles fuel and without it you're in extreme danger or sometimes not even allowed to progress.

It's a pretty well laid-out game with decent level design and mechanics. I do wish there was more story like their previous works, but I can't judge it for what it wasn't meant to be. It's a quick and thrilling ride. I just hope you can handle the scares -- I was too stressed to even leave the saferoom my first time!

Finally, a solid finale to this game! Basically you have to wait until you have at least six victories to build up a team of only those you've beaten. After that, assemble a team of three you've saved already, then I believe it guarantees you to find the others along the way as you search for a device on each of the 3 planets.

After you beat the Overseer as usual, you go on to the last bit of story elements, and take on the final two bosses! I played it on easy and barely beat it myself! If you beat it, the rewards as well as the newest Renegade are worth every second! Best part is that this is optional, so you don't even have to do this if you don't want to!

So glad they're still updating this game, and they're still not done! It's a shame this game isn't more of a household name, it's one of the best indie games I've seen in the past few years!

For about 112 hours I was a Fall Guy

November 30th 2021 they made mandatory to get an Epic Games account and have the Epic Games Store download with this game, which I refuse to do

Now for the next 112 hours I'll be a Crestfallen Guy

I bought this game because a floating talking skull told me it was a good game.

If Mr. Meatless can't convince you to try this, I hope my playing this until 1:30 AM on a work night does!

Edit: I'll be disappointed if this game doesn't make an award this year!

I played this for three hours last night with six other friends. I can say that Job Job alone paid for itself with how much laughter and fun we had with it!

Drawful Animate is okay but does take a long time to get going. I suppose technically the animation thing is optional, but it does literally double the time. Good if you have artistic friends like I did!

The Wheel is a solid trivia game. Not as fun as Murder Trivia but it is still interesting with the wheel spinning bit. The more you win in trivia, the more likely you'll get your slice of the wheel spun on. Ironically better with fewer people since that keeps the game going longer.

JOB JOB -- this thing is one of the most fun Jackbox games ever. You write essay prompts, then have to answer prompts made up of random cut out words for everyone else's previous prompts. You can even take words out of the instructions or anywhere else on the page! Literally cried laughing. Will be doing that one for a long time!

Poll Mine -- hot garbage, not gonna lie. It's designed to where everyone has a tier list and you guess which rankings the majority gave. These prompts can be very solid or very lame -- we had "best activities at summer camp" and literally none of us ever went. It also goes on way too long. Definitely the weakest one.

Weapons Drawn -- Unique and creative. Honestly better than Drawful because it gives you a mandatory letter of your name to hide into the drawing, and people have to guess who the killer was based on the image, looking for said letter. This letter can be in any case, cursive or script, and can even look poorly drawn so that it's hard to find! Get points for killing guests and having the guest you brought hard to kill!

All in all this pack isn't as good as, say, Jackbox Party Pack 6, but Job Job and Weapons Drawn alone make it in my personal top 3. Just be aware that this one takes up a lot more creativity and time than most other packs, so depending on what you prefer or how timetables with friends are, this may be a pass.

This is like touring a vineyard or a craft brewery.

For $13, you get not only several samples of their wares (some progenitors to games like Red Strings Club, some completely unique), but you also get wonderful commentary for each and every one of these by the artisans that made them, as well as the history of the studio and the people within over the past few years.

These commentaries are completely optional, and can be taken before or after or never at all in relation to the games, although I highly recommend you do. Regardless, if you're only interested in the games themselves, $1.30 per game with concept art AND soundtracks is a steal in and of itself. Each game is different and unique, and it has a lot of variety to be had. You are near guaranteed to like at least one of these games, if not all.

I bought this because I am a big fan of the studio's previous works Gods Will Be Watching and The Red Strings Club. If you like either, you will love this. If you haven't tried either, perhaps this will interest you in their further works.
