I enjoyed the main game and would recommend it, however I have a massive number of complaints about this DLC, which is both extremely disappointing as well as overpriced, at either $15 as part of the deluxe edition or $20 as a stand alone. First l will start with the content that is frankly tacked on to the DLC to justify the price point and then after I will cover the meat of the DLC, which are new game plus and the endgame dungeon called The Big Swell.

The costume packs are decently cool if you like to dress up your character, however I never used them because I personally enjoyed the other costumes choices I had more, but If you like these particular costumes from previous games and gaudy gold swimsuits then maybe you'll enjoy these. The Dondoko island and Sujimon sets are basically cheat items that trivialize these side quests and anyone who actually cares about enjoying the quests will likely avoid the content from these sets until they finish it at which point they are not needed anyways. The combat item set are rare and expensive healing items that make the game's already relatively easy combat system less difficult and are unneeded. And lastly the CDs are not the kind of thing anyone should have to pay for especially since the songs already exist as karaoke.

Now, this is where my biggest complaints begin. New Game Plus should NOT be DLC, it should be part of the base game, and to make things worse they tied it to a bunch of achievements and made the only way to get it as part of this overpriced bundle. Both new game plus and the big swell are only available as part of this pack, while everything else is available individually. This is blatantly manipulative and abusive to SEGA's customers and they should be ashamed.

Now for what i consider the main price justification of this $20 DLC, The Big Swell. It's presented as what should be a challenging endgame dungeon that is likely the last thing a player will do after finishing the main quest and grinding the rest of the dungeons in the game. This kind of things is a staple in many other JRPGS as the kind of endgame content that keeps you playing for another 20 or even 100 hours in other games. Now I'll start with the single positive thing I have to say about The Big Swell and it's the party interaction scenes that happen between the sections of the dungeon. They are pretty funny and enjoyable, however there is one thing that is unacceptable in a $20 DLC and that's the fact that there is no voice acting for them at all. And from here's it's all downhill, not only is the dungeon relatively short, (took me about 5 hours total) but there is absolutely nothing in the dungeon that isn't in the main game. No new weapons, no new armor, no new accessories, and you won't believe this, there isn't even a single new enemy to fight. The dungeon is full of stronger versions of regular enemies and street bosses from the main game, and the 5 section bosses are all stronger recolors of main story bosses. The rewards for the dungeon, are trash, the best ones are an mp recovery accessory and 2 strong stat boosting accessories you can also get from the main game. In fact the reward from the final boss is a massive slap in the face, it's a single permanent strength boosting drink and an upgrade item to make 7 star weapons that is easily available from several mini games and another FREE dungeon. The dungeon also has a shop like the other FREE dungeons, and it offers the same items for the same prices as well as job manuals, which I guess are okay, however what I really wanted was weapon upgrade items which only seem to drop from enemies and can't be bought at a reasonable price anywhere. The only real purpose for this dungeon is an end game place to grind your levels and prepare for legendary mode in new game plus, or in new game plus to grind everything to 99 if that's the kind of thing you want to do. For me this dungeon was so disappointing I would have been let down by it even if it was free. After enjoying the main game it's really sad that the last impression I had of the game was this DLC and so I will recommend that you avoid it entirely unless you really want to play new game plus.
