Genuinely one of the most solidly written games I've ever played

I definitely think it has potential, the portal effect is pretty fun looking, but it gives off mixed messages.

This game is very inspired by Celeste so I'll be using that as a comparison.

Celeste is a slower paced game, the physics are slower, but they share a focus on precision platforming.
The problem is that while this game is a whole lot faster, it relies heavily on the binoculars mechanic from Celeste, where you can view the entire room from the start.
This is required for almost every room, because without knowing whats ahead you will be going blind and most of the jumps are not reactable.
This shows in the running sequence of the demo, where you need to escape from an enemy chasing you down, but since its time sensitive there are no binoculars and you need to blind react heavily to jumps that plainly aren't fair on a first time play through of the room.
Some other jumps hurt too, like many rotating portal jumps requiring you to land on a small platform, where the rotation throws off your input.

On the game itself, it advertises the dual timeline thing but this serves purely for narrative (at least in the demo). Each level has you playing either in one side or the other. This is cool and all but when its so present in the marketing it feels like it should play a gameplay purpose, but really it just ends up that for each level they are either themed for one or the other, with a shader applied.
There aren't even level elements specific to one time period its all just a reskin.

I think the idea has potential but the demo really hasn't sold me on it.

Overall I find this "fine" but not really worth the price compared to all the free mods with better overall design elements.

This game does have a few nice chambers but most of them vary from fine to not great, and there is a ton of annoying downtime up until nearly the end, where you are stuck walking through some added hallway or waiting to finish flying through a tube.

The mechanic of enabling/disabling the gels never felt like it reached a point of being interesting, more just made the main item feel boring, not even able to fire gel between chambers.

I think the biggest factor hurting this game is by far the writing, it's not funny, and it is incredibly self referential to the main game, with its own story barely existing.

As mentioned there are many hallways or closed doors where you just have to wait for some ""witty"" dialogue to run its course before you can move on, and it really drags.

I think shooting gels is cool but the execution here is incredibly flawed, I would like to see something in future with this mechanic maybe in some co-op setting.

Overall maybe if it's on sale it'll be worth it but personally I'd rather not.

It's alright but incredibly short.

There are 3 missions in the game, and the first one is a painfully railroaded tutorial, where often I'd have my game frozen for tutorial text at what felt like random moments trying to navigate the timeline.

For what is essentially 2 real missions, and terrible steam achievements (they encourage spamming asking about every possible option, punishing you for figuring it out naturally), I don't think I can recommend it without a heavy discount.

Edit: Thinking more about the game honestly makes me think a bit worse about it.
I'll be mentioning specific instances below that will spoil the answers to the missions so if you still want to play it I'd recommend not reading further.

The system for learning about character histories or personalities didn't make sense to me, during certain statements a character's "third eye" will open and allows you to gain a piece of their personality as a piece of evidence, however this never felt like it made sense. Sometimes it kinda did like finding out the guy who endlessly talks up their own work has a bit of an ego, but in the second mission you get given the fact that one of the characters is a cannibal? It honestly felt like it came out of nowhere and kinda shoved towards the answer, finding out a character is envious? or wrathful? when there is a list of demons including ones called envious and wrathful? or one that has a description saying how it 'influences the person to eat more and more disgusting things'? This system just spoiled the answer to me so often.

Another issue with the puzzles in this game is that a lot of it depends on knowing the world. The second mission is 'fine' for this (a bit too easy once you understand certain things, but taking way too long to figure out how to prove it), but the first and last missions require knowing specific knowledge about the world that we just don't. This would be fine in some situations but the character we play as should know this stuff, like how the big guard men have incredibly powerful robotic arms?

Another minor issue I'd call more of a bug is that the silhouettes of characters can spoil the answers. In the third act I could tell who the attacker was from the darkened cutscene alone, and during the second mission I can see the culprit run away from the crime scene while the person talking says they didn't see anything.
The only instance where this made sense was when I saw someone in a cutscene during a lie, since it wouldn't of been accurate as part of their story, but seeing the culprit out of the corner of their eye and claimed to see nothing?

I think this game has a very nice art style and lots of potential but there is a lot of issues in here that really make it hard to justify it as anything more than a €10 early access preview. If there was more missions in the pipeline, and there weren't awful achievements I feel it would be possible for more missions to be made which can avoid these issues.

Very wonderful game that takes under 1gb and runs on anything, with plenty of mods.
I hope to see more games like this in future!

Very fun to see how the story plays out, a wonderful adaptation of the original mod.
