Whoever did the 3D modelling and architecture did a really good job. As a scholar of everything medieval, I can say all the buildings are incredibly realistic. Everything from small cottages to multilevel stone structures. As far as the flexibility in building your own house in the game, there is a lot of variety in the modules, and the furniture, that you can use.

Not sure about other comments saying it's very limited. If you're comparing it to House Flipper, then yeah it's going to be limited, because it's a very specific historical era that it's based on. But the game does very well on it's own, for those that like medieval stuff.

I also read a comment somewhere that the architecture style is "a cross between medieval and steampunk", because the commentator believed architecture wasn't that creative 1000 years ago. Not true at all. There are thousand year old buildings (still standing today) in all of Western Europe, that look exactly like what you can see in this game.

Just a personal note. It has always been my dream to own a medieval style structure similar to a lot of the buildings you see here, except with all the modern conveniences on the inside. So this game makes me daydream a lot, as well as giving me ideas for future blueprints, for when I want someone to build me my "forever home".

The music is amazingly addictive. I love that dark sci-fi ambient feel. If you can get more tracks from the same artist, that would be great.

Devs: Please make the soundtrack available for download!

Edit almost 500 hours later.... The game has some serious flaws that really anger me at this level, making me change my recommendation to NO.

1) Offline earnings is a joke. 2 hours max! For a PAID game, it should be unlimited. (Most idle games that have a paid option take away these limitations for the paid version.)

Or 24 hours at least. 2 hours gives you nothing. The only way to earn anything is to turn off all the graphic and sound options, and leave it running in the background all day and night. Trust me, I learned the hard way.

2) The "soft reset" level is at 1.000ap research points. But if you accidentally miss it, like when you have no way of checking on the game for a day or more, because of real-life responsibilities, they take that goal away and make it 1.000bj research points. Which takes several months to achieve. You have no choice but to reach that level, or hard reset the game.

I couldn't check on the game for 2 days because of work, and realised the reset goal was changed to 1.000bj. That was last year. I was stupid enough to think that if I let it go a little longer, I would reach it soon. It is now March 2023. Forget it. I'm not doing a hard reset and doing it all over again. This dev got my money, and now I'm done.

If there was a sideways thumb I'd use it here. It is an okay game. Could never get a wheel to work properly with it, but that doesn't matter now. KB is fine. This is pretty much a dark humor game almost, in that it makes fun of how dreary Eastern Europe was during the Cold War years. The AM radio does give you some immersion to make the time go by easier. But it does get boring after a while anyway. The grind for the achievements does not match how quickly you get tired of it. I would assume most achievement hunters would give up on a few in here, even if they are "completionists" like me.

The tutorial doesn't tell you anything that you wouldn't already know from any other resource management game. i.e Most of us can already tell this is a resource management game, and thus, we do not need a lesson in what "resource management" is all about. What we DO need to know is what is SPECIFIC to THIS game.

The tutorial expects you to memorize all of what it's trying to tell you first, before even letting you control anything. It also tries to explain things that are not even there (at the current moment I would assume), so you have no example to go on, which adds to the confusion.

How about telling us 1 or 2 things at a time and letting us try it out? Try telling us how to actually OPERATE the game, what all the different interface elements mean (it only told us about oil and power, but I think we can figure those out on our own), guide us along the way to a certain point (the first hour or so until we understand what's going on with this amazingly confusing interface)....

But no, it just tells you "you need these resources for those resources", and "oh yeah, you need power", and um, something about selling your surplus. That's it. I sat there staring at the overwhelming amount of data and settings, not even knowing where to start. It gave me a migraine headache.

Even though the game missions kinda suck sometimes, I can easily see keeping this game installed long after you've completed the story. At the very least, just for the HUGE MAP and exploration factor.

It's not really a bad grind to get a bunch of cars in your inventory. So once you fill up your garage (HQ) if you just feel like going for a cross country drive in any type of vehicle, and not playing any of the missions or challenges, you can!

The only part I don't like is the map is like 1:35 scale or something close to that. But it's still huge and takes forever to get a lot of exploration percentage done. 16 hours in and I've only got half of the Midwest area explored. This game is going to occupy a lot of my time.

The scenery, very good job replicating the real life parts of the country, and still looks beautiful even at low settings. I accidentally found myself in an Amish town with nothing but horse and buggies on the street and the people wearing their "plain" clothes. Detroit looked as depressing as it is IRL. And Chicago, my American home town, looked amazing. Although I could be biased, and critical. and mention that some of the famous landmarks and buildings were in the wrong place. But still, pretty darn good.

But back to exploration... There are NO LIMITS. You are not restricted to the roads at all. I took a stock Caddy Escalade through the mountains of Minnesota and enjoyed the heck out of it. The damage you can take is also very arcadey. But if you want some stress relief without the hassle of repairing you car every few minutes, it's a plus. Physics on the other hand, although still arcadey, are a lot closer to realistic than the damage. I would say if 1 is total arcade and 10 is realistic, damage would be a 2, but physics would be a modest 5. Sliding in the grass, dirt trackin', rock crawling, you can do it all.

Now I have to add, even though The Crew 2 has been out for a while now, they still haven't shut the servers off on this one. And there are still plenty of online players any time of day. (There were about 60-70 on average, and over 100 at one point, so far I've seen.)

EDIT: (Major annoyances learned after 90 hours of play.)

#1: The RAIN! Ok Ubisoft we get that you really like your rain effects, and you want us to enjoy it also. But a 65-75% chance of rain, all the time, anywhere on the map, is annoying and unrealistic. And why is it raining in the desert? I was stationed at Nellis AFB (next to Las Vegas) and rain is virtually non-existent, for most of the year. It just doesn't feel immersive to have it raining all the time on ANY part of the map.

#2: The interface effects. Another "ok we get it". You really like your animations. But they should not be so long that it takes up to 5 whole seconds between each menu action. Each action should be no longer than 0.2 seconds. So that once we have been playing for a while, we should be able to get around the interface with ease. But most of the time it's a case of "human is faster than game interface" and the game crashes if we are selecting things too quickly. There should be an option to disable the interface effects.

#3: The (OMG so repetitious) cutscenes. For mostly the same reasons as #2. We understand the cutscenes for the story should be mandatory. But the cutscenes for the routine places we go like the garage, tuner, dealer, etc. should either have an option to disable them, OR at the very least, be eliminated completely once we've completed the game. It's incredibly annoying to still have to keep hitting ESC. There is no need for this.

Wow has this game expanded! Took a break from it for a few years (right when the dinosaur area opened up). And now there's the solar system to play with! There is so much educational info in this game now, I would not be surprised if teachers (that are aware of this game) started to allow kids to play it in school. It's also great for older people who have forgotten a lot, or haven't learned the new discoveries that have occurred in the past few decades, or are just knowledge junkies and need a fix. This game rules!

The controls are horrible and dialog are poorly timed. Tutorial is "assuming" that you can find what it needs in the interface. It doesn't feel like a "game" at all. It feels more like an "interactive movie". After several hours, it's still a very linear game format. You are simply doing as the game instructs you to do, with very little freedom. Not exactly what I call enjoyable.

Actually it seemed like an amazing game, with breath taking graphics, sounds, and music. I tried getting through the tutorial/intro scenarios. But they took WAY too long, and "Aura" is incredibly slow and annoying. And the rest of the voice acting was too distracting and didn't stay on topic. The game is very linear. After several hours, I was STILL simply doing as I was told. Point is, the slow pace, distracting conversation, and linear format, led me to start daydreaming of something else (like other games) constantly. I don't have ADHD or anything similar, but was still losing focus or interest in this game. It was mainly Aura, with her slow talking pace, that made me get frustrated. I was starting to rapidly close windows I needed, simply because they were an annoyance, and I got fed up and shut the game down. As a general rule, if you cannot allow players to start controlling things themselves within the first hour, you are going to lose that player's interest, and they will move on to something else. I like games that take about 10-15 minutes max for the tutorial, and then I can just start playing and enjoying the game on my own, at my own pace. This one seems like it's meant for people under the influence of something, or 70-year-olds that have all day with nothing to do. Amazing that it has been around for 20 years at that pace.

Open-world game to blow off some steam and make you bust out laughing. Simple as that. But be warned: Playing without an open mind will lead to boredom quickly. There are literally over a hundred Steam achievements, plus more goals in the game, to give you ideas if you are clueless. That and several dozen goat incarnations to have fun with. It's almost like Postal 2 except with goats!

Played it for quite a while some time ago. Came back to it for some reason and the addiction has started all over again. I don't know whether to like it or hate it.
