With all that happened since 2018/2019, do I still need to tell why that 2.0 is ♥♥♥♥♥ ?
Yeah.

Dead Island is a pretty cool game, but it doesn’t go overboard. The post-apocalyptic Los Angeles looks great. It's not really that huge even if its an openworld. But every street corner is packed with details, and the atmosphere really pulls you in, whether it’s the sunny beaches or the rundown city areas.

The combat system is where it shines. It’s smooth, dynamic, and pretty brutal. You’ve got loads of weapons to customize, and smashing zombies is seriously satisfying. Every hit feels impactful, and you really feel powerful when you’re taking down a horde.

What sets it apart is the game’s dark humor. It doesn’t take itself too seriously, which adds a fun, quirky vibe that works really well. So yeah, if you’re into action with a bit of horror and a fun twist, Dead Island make a great job !

The test was quick:
The world wasn’t immersive from my pov, nor was there any specific art direction that made the game easier to get into. It stops at 3D realism that aims for full detail, but in the end, it looks messy.
Just like the combat, which is visually close to hack & slash in terms of combos.
And the performance isn’t great.

We will not talk about all the bugs of course....

And yet, I haven’t even been confronted with the mandatory PvP to keep leveling up, the daily dungeon limits, or the pay-to-win hiding behind a big wall.

In short, not my thing, and I don’t recommend it.

Bro come on, 44€ for this ?
Give back the price it was before.

Seems great, but crashes a lot...

It was a very good game. But the game seems dead now with no patch at all.

Too slow, too boring. Too much grind.
The universe / map feel empty.
The necessiting time for just the upgrade of the axe is huge.

I prefer farming a game like World of Warcraft Classic at this point..

The game is so slow. SO SLOW.. EVEN AT THE END. AND THE SCRIPT.. 😭

Too many bugs and breaking rules from the game..
Can't go any further in the game because of events who overlap and a bug where I can't go to the roseblanche abbey.
Even the puzzle aren't that great.. Its mindbreaking in a negative way. And sometimes there is no logic to it. It's poorly designed.

The story was pretty great tho I'm not gonna lie.

But the game doesn't make it good overall.

The game has a truly interesting artistic direction. It's cute, it's beautiful. The combat system is worth mentioning. But that's where it stops.

The characters' stories are cliché, and the dialogues are not really interesting. We doesn't really get attached to the various protagonists.
