i'm gonna start this off by saying that the gameplay is alright. while the game leaves you alone, it's pretty fun.
does that mean you should play it? currently i would say not at all. there's really 2 major problems with this game:
1) the game servers are horribly mismanaged. instead of explaining it, let me just run you through what my experience today was like:
i got online at around 16:30, but it took until around 18:15 to so much as get the game running because the servers were overloaded. after that i played something else until just after 21:00, waiting to get through the queue. half an hour later i got kicked from the server in the middle of a dungeon boss because the servers were taken down for maintenance, something i knew about roughly 30 seconds beforehand, only because the global chat was complaining about it. apparently other people were given a 70 second countdown as their only warning, unless they were tracking 3rd party websites for updates, but i guess because i was in a dungeon i wasn't allowed a warning before the "connection to server lost" popup.
basically, on the server front, wait for the player population to die down some before you try if you want your time respected.

2) the story is awful.
actually, that's a bit unfair. the story would be tolerable, if this was a single player game and you actually got to play one of the main characters, but this is an MMO, so you instead play a player character that was awkwardly shoehorned in after the fact. at least that's what it feels like.
the main story keeps having you fight a variety of bosses but almost none of them are actually finished off by you. instead, the fights end in cutscenes, in which your character gets shuffled out of the fight somehow to make space for one of the actual main characters to have their moment of glory. the same holds true for story arcs that don't end in bosses, a lot of the time. while this is going on, NPCs keep telling you how important you are, which at that point just feels like gaslighting. overall, it's just really difficult to get invested in this story that was clearly written by someone who doesn't know how to write stories for MMOs.

TL;DR: the gameplay is fun so long as the game leaves you alone, but it's not worth putting up with the server mismanagement. the story is at the top end of mediocre, if you don't mind playing a side character no one actually cares about.
