Overall I would give the sim a rating of good 3/5
It could be a 5/5 but first what I like
The handling - once you get used to the gentle acceleration and handling of the kart you can get some really nice laps in.
Set up - Nothing seems completely OP small changes are what are required and get those tire pressures right. Having done some karting at first with the default setup I found the game doesn't handle anything like my experience of karting but then I thought about me karting in real life firstly I'm 6"3' so I have my seat right back. Secondly i'm heavy (which isn't an option in this sim) but I can lower the centre of gravity which actually makes the kart handle a lot more like it does in my real life experience.
Time trail - generally apart from one user all the other times seem achievable. It's a pitty the game doesn't let us look at the steam profile and report the one player who has obviously hacked the game. I generally can get in the top 50 UK TT's.
Graphics - the graphics are good they could do with a bit of optimisation for VR but overall they are good.
Tracks - I like the variety of the tracks. They are all quite different from each other so that helps with longevity.
Now onto what I don't like
Online - Its basically non existant. I just tried and all servers apparently are "running" none are joinable.
AI racing - you have three settings and all are vastly different. Medium is probably the best balance but easy is way too easy. Hard is going to be impossible. The AI needs to be much more than a easy / medium or hard option it needs to be a sliding scale % the user chooses from 0% (very easy) 60% (medium) to 100% (ultimate - which should be just faster than the top 2% of you best players to give them something to play for!)
Career - THERE IS NO CAREER! You can't even create a series / championship of races. Come on guys this is a minimum and should also be a feature for online. Thus recreating the "Grand Prix" experience of local karting centres around the world or trying to emulate a world championship of sorts.
MOTORSPORTS GAMES DEVELOPER - I am really considered by this as they have gone out and bought a load of games developers but they do not seem to have the money to function and I am assuming they will fold at some point which means this game will just stop being developed. There already hasn't been a road map since May!
It has potential but at the moment its only really good for Hotlapping. If you like that then go to the TT section and go up against some really good times from players and you will have fun. If you only like racing then you are probably going to be disappointed.

This is by far the best overall racing sim I have played!
It's not the best at tyre physics, AI, FFB, graphics, online play etc but it is really good at pretty much everything. The main advantage that it has over most racing sim's is how active the modding community is in updating this game. You can change pretty much everything to do with this game through mods (cars, tracks, the UI, graphics, weather, hell there is even gran turismo mods!). I suppose the major disadvantage being an older game is finding people to play online may prove difficult unless you look for an active community to join (which is probably a better experience when you play online anyway). However for perfecting your driving technique you can't get much better than playing through the career (which has no story) and all of the challenges that it has to offer (again no story). With all of that said when you consider how cheap you can buy this game with all of the official add on's (under £5 on sale about every 4 months) it makes owning this sim a no brainer!

It is set in the future and therefore you do fight robots and stuff but they have kept it fairly low tech. You no longer have to jump everywhere and although you can have some cool tech - I decieded not bother unlocking it or using it. This is the best COD I have played for several years. Ok I would have like the story to have been based on past or current events or maybe just into the future say 2020 and get rid of all the robots crap etc but the story itself was quite good and had to be set in the future to make it more realistic.

This game is rubbish! Honestly one of the least enjoyable games I have ever played! Played to the end and the story telling is shocking so bad I skipped the sceens in the end. The final mission is a a bad joke. Just to leave one spoiler after you kill the bad guy you get a THE END message - no run escape, or kill everyone quick, or a halo is coming for extraction last 5 minutes... Rubbish

Great game and very good handling model. Some glitches need to be sorted and if you are using AMD turn Raptor off before playing as this crashes the game :-( but overall (one of) the best driving sims I have ever played
