If you like strategy games, you will LOVE this game.
I came from over a hundred hours in Civilization V, and was able to get an understanding of the game very easily. I had the advantage of having quite a few friends who i could play with and who could help me, but nonetheless, it is still a very easy game to pick up. This by no means, however, means that it is an easy game. You can start with easier nations like the Ottomans, and Castille, and as you play more and more of the game start playing as harder nations, like the princes of the HRE.
It is a very rewarding game, and even for it nearly reaching 4 years, is still getting regular updates and expansion packs. While there are many, many expansions, the base game itself is EXTREMELY fun to play. The game also has a very active modding community, allowing for some very intresting games.
The game is very, very fun to play multiplayer with some friends, and is also very fun to play single player.
Final verdict: The game is a perfect example of a balance of easy to pick up, and VERY high replayability. If you love strategy, this is literally one of the most perfect games I can find.
