Could have been a neat platformer with a nice mechanic if the boss fights were actually good. Instead of being far harder then the regular levels in a very frustrating manner.

More annoying then fun?

People compared to Subnautica and Outer wilds but those 2 do what this game attempts to combine WAY better. So I'd recommend playing those. Exploration in this was kinda lack lustre, you never feel like you really advance anything with your car unlike in Subnautica where you feel a sense of progression with going deeper.

Whoever designed the Grand Elevator level should never be allowed to design a map again.
Level design in the later chapters is really awful, sad because overall I did like the game but it actually made me quit (even though i found the spot to actually go to) by sheer frustration so cant recommend it to anyone.

Comes very close to being a great game but ends up being repetitive due to lack of variety in builds/items when compared to other games in the genre like the Binding of Isaac. Difficulty is also a bit too front loaded, the first boss in this game is probably the hardest it will get outside of some combinations of elites. The story could have been more interesting but doesnt end up going anywhere.

Didnt have any performance or stability issues so at least they have fixed that. But frankly I was done after the 4th run since it wasnt that difficult but just a slog.

I am sure that some people will enjoy this though but perhaps playing other roguelites gave me the wrong expectation regarding variety. I really felt like the rogue lite element in this game was a bit tacked on, outside of the story integration. Because if I ignore the roguelite element being bad I'd recommend this game.

I would recommend this game if you are a fan of Utawarerumono and if you dont mind a bog standard jrpg (or using cheat engine to bypass it). Story wise it is pretty good but it is just a eh JRPG. It also has an annoying text bug and has crashed alot for me.

Basically this would have been better if the story:gameplay balance was more shifted towards the story as the gameplay isnt amazing.

Master Magistrate happily surprised me when it finally came out of Early Access. I would describe it as Ace Attorney set in 1800s Japan with more focus on being a visual novel. This doesnt mean the gameplay element is bad but I did feel like the first 2 cases were a bit lackluster. However the other 2 cases are pretty good both in terms of the puzzle element as the plot element.

What I really like is the choice to use black and white for action CGs even if this was due to budget. Imo this really fit the style of the game. Outside of those, there are plenty of actual CGs that are good. Personally I liked the character design but that is very subjective. A great aspect is that every spoken dialogue line is voiced outside of the protag.

Some stuff in the plot could have been done better, mainly the backstories of some characters being put in a odd place. I can see why it was done that way in a sense to avoid spoiling the player but personally it would have been cooler to connect the dots. Of course I could have missed it. I do like how even the first 2 cases tie into the overall narrative of the story despite looking standalone at first glance.

Also there is a patch for naughty stuff, now normally I'd say only get this if you like that kind of stuff but imo the Okita and Yamanami routes are good to resolve the overall plot. They also have less H-scenes but this caused the story to flow better and for one of those 2 it was an interesting element. If you like eroges and/or were very interested in Koume, Rimu or Sakura then those receive pretty basic routes with pretty much half of it being H-scenes or scenes building up to one. It does expand a little bit on their characters and the development they received but nothing major.

Overall solid title and personally I'd say 25 euros is a pretty fair price for what you get. It toke me about 23ish hours to clear the main game and 32 to clear all the heroine routes.
