Early Access Review
One of the best Battlefield-type games I've played since BF2. Huge fan of the weapon handling, dragging & revive system, and work that went into finally releasing this game over seven years.

Would like to see a self-healing mechanic for the non-Medic classes akin to BFV's, as well as the option to take the Squad Leader role if the Squad Lead isn't providing orders, but otherwise this game is everything I've wanted from a Battlefield-style game.

The Gundams appear to have softer roles than games such as Overwatch, and this makes it more enjoyable to me. I don't know if it has as much competitive edge as Overwatch, but it's a pretty fun casual counterpart for those who enjoy Gundam.

This game is way better than it deserves to be. If you like Overcooked, and enjoy Touhou fanon, then this is definitely worth trying. The animations, music, and art are really good, and the game requires some real attention after the third day or so.

Very good mechanical challenge for testing your aim, enemy prioritization, movement, and spacial awareness. There are many small nuances and minimalistic choices with the game design that make it fight above it's weight class from what I've seen, shown in Mental Checkpoint's "How This Game Controls Your Heartbeat" Youtube video. I'd highly recommend this game for anyone who wants a game with a strong mechanical learning curve and low skill floor.

Good port. Experienced stuttering on only 2-3 songs with a Ryzen 3600, 1080 Ti, 16GB 3000MHz RAM, and SATA SSD with high settings, and no crashing or other launch issues. Great to see PC get another big rhythm game, and I'm looking forward to putting many more hours into it.

I'm very happy with this game so far. It's very aesthetically pleasing, the gunplay is fun, the AI are solid, and I experienced zero crashes within the first four hours of gameplay. I had reservations aboht dropping $40 for an early access game, but this is the true spiritual successor to SWAT 4 I've been waiting for.

I have zero complaints about this title, especially in a holiday season of disappointing FPS titles, it's great to know that developers like VOID Interactive are able to create passion-projects like this. I'm really looking forward to future updates as more maps and weapons are released.

Great side game from the rhythm genre, but has the worst UI of all time

Gunplay unredeeming when a movement bug holds your inputs for an additional 1-2 seconds after releasing the button. Cannot mute operator quips post game, can't change minimap size, can only achieve 60-80FPS on lowest settings in 32v32 matchmaking, map design features lots of "no-mans land" where it is impossible to traverse alive without a full squad's worth of smoke grenades, and the only reason you make it through the firing line is sheer numbers and luck.

The system that allowed you to build bases using sandbags and barbed wire in BFV is now completely gone, and would make the difference in being able to defend a conquest flag or breakthrough point on many maps. A friend who has terrible aiming skills could play medic, only heal, revive, and build cover, and still come out in the Top 5 on the team leaderboard by the end-game. Crouch-running has also been removed, although it doesn't really matter for 2042 because there isn't any cover you can take advantage of crouching behind. The feature that would allow your player to "peek" over the top of slightly too-tall cover when crouching and ADSing is gone as well.

Every class/specialist no longer has the single-use med pack that was present in BFV. Having this med-pack did not remove medics out of their job, because their role was to replenish the med-pack supply of Assault, Support, and Recon classes. This removed a lot of the frustration of begging for a medic when you've been hit once or twice, and now that frustration is back two-fold because you can't tell which specialist has medic crates unless it's Falck or Angel, and you also can't retrieve your own supplies from home base. The single-use med pack, and the ability to pull ammo and healing from supply crates on your own flag, were two of my favorite features that DICE added to Battlefield since BF2, and they have been completely removed for 2042.

There are a lot more vehicles present in 2042 compared to BFV, which would be fine if there was any way to hide from and avoid enemy vehicles that you don't have AT equipment for. Tactical Conquest in BFV would have 1-2 vehicles in play on the enemy team, and seeing a tank simply meant you stayed inside town areas and ran away from the tank. With the "no-mans" land of BF2042, you can't hide from enemy vehicles at all, and more importantly, you have helicopters to worry about now. This isn't even an issue of "too many vehicles", because games like Planetside 2 handle this fine, where you can use regenerating resource points (nanites) to spawn in your own vehicles, and infantry are able to use hills, natural cover, and class-specific movement abilities to avoid being caught-out.

Wouldn't even buy this game for $10 right now.

PC specs are 1080 Ti, Ryzen 5 3600, 16GB of RAM, and installed on SSD. BFV at least ran at 120-140FPS on lowest settings, not sure how it got so much worse between releases.

I really can't speak highly enough about this game. The art is fantastic, the updates introduce new content at no additional cost, the soundtrack is pretty good, and the handling model is great as well. There isn't anything that I feel that this game does not do well, and I feel it was a great step forward from Absolute Drift, which I loved as well. Definitely give this a shot if you like DiRT Rally, Absolute Drift, or rally in general.

Fantastic game with very good physical feel. The only game that I think I've enjoyed drifting more in is LFS... Minimalistic, cheap, lots of touge, and features an 86 Corolla. Will definitely keep this game installed for a while!
